I've been getting their catalogs but hadn't been in the store. It was nice to see the clothes in person and feel the material. The clothes are pretty soft and arranged mostly by color. There were some nice color combinations. A lot of deep Spring colors. Everything looks and feels comfortable. I was the only person in the store and was asked if I needed help but not bothered while I browsed. I liked the clothes and will go back again. They also have accessories. read more

My 82 year old mother absolutely adores this place. The staff bends over backwards to make patrons feel comfortable. They make wonderful suggestions and arrange comfortable places to try things on. They also gave my mom honest genuine feedback on when things work and do not. When I asked my mother what she wanted for her birthday she said something from the shop. I'm so glad that we have this local business in the Tucson area for her and other seniors! read more

Soft Surroundings - Very nice senior friendly clothing store - Women's Clothing Near Me - St. Louis, Missouri

The worst customer service I have experienced I placed an order on May 6 with four items and I only got one I never got a confirmation email neither a tracking number when the order was shipped I tried ro call today May 13 to find out what was going on and they had me on the line for an hour and at the end they said they couldn help me so the transferred me somewhere else it took another 45 minutes before someone pick up the phone and I found out that the items were sent separately and that I will get them until next week that they were already shipped but that if I wanted a tracking number I have to wait from 24 to 48 hours which is ridiculous because if the items were sent they should already have a tracking number. This is the last time I buy from this company read more

I've ordered several items from the catalog which I love but not happy that the catalog isn't more clear that the sale only applies to certain colors. read more

I have a gift card and did not use it. tried to make a purchase today using the card online. Absolute nightmare. customer service rep said I have a $5.00 balance on the card and it is for $250.00. Again, I have not attempted to use the card until today. Both customer service representatives I spoke to could barely speak or understand English. They told me the name of the purchaser of the card and it is incorrect. I have the receipt. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they hung up after being on hold for fifteen minutes. I don't know how to rectify the situation. I have been a very good customer of this company for several years and am in disbelief that they have such a horrible customer service department. Proceed with caution when ordering online from this company. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? The gift card was gifted to me from my daughter for my 86th birthday. I am beyond disappointed and feel sick that they operate their business this way. read more

Finally found something to use the balance of my gift card for. Beautiful coral too. It's looks great. Thanks to Cynthia for her special service. Had a gift card because of an exchange. Finally found a top on sale. It's difficult finding things in my size. Especially when smalls run big! Nice staff. read more

They have husband chairs -- a place for the husband (or male Significant Other) to cool his heels while the shopping and browsing are being conducted. How can I not like this store? Entered the store one Saturday, trailing behind my spouse, and was immediately greeted by staff and directed to a husband chair. Okay. Now I'm happy. My wife loves the catalog, buys from the catalog, and sometimes comes to the store itself. The clothes are beautiful and stylish. The staff is helpful -- they will help you find whatever it is you're looking for and make suggestions. If you wish to be left alone, you may consider shopping elsewhere. You are, in part, paying for the luxury of an assisted shopping experience. Recommended. read more

I have shopped at soft surroundings numerous times and tried on many tops. I have ordered tops online which I had to return. Looking in my closet I only have one top from soft surroundings and that is the printed Timely top. I am writing this because recently after looking over the catalog I went to my local soft surroundings store with some tops in mind to try on. When I entered the store I was greeted by one of the ladies and asked if I needed help. I told her no that I was just looking. She proceeded to find me tops that she thought I would like. I turned her choices down twice. Then another lady asked me if I wanted to start a dressing room and I said no since I was still looking. Then another lady came to "help" and hovered nearby and told me that I would have to wait for a dressing room. (Later my husband who was with me thought that was a tactic to get me to shop for more items) I picked out several tops. Since I was wearing two tops I found a mirror and took the outer top off so I could start trying on tops. After all, I was there to shop for the tops I had seen in the catalog and buy them if they fit and I liked them in person. The lady told me I shopped fast. I was never left alone to shop the whole time I was in the store. Finally, I picked out two tops and went to check out but was told I had to be put in their system. I said No I don't want my information in your system. I was told well we can just put in your name and address. I said no but by that time the whole experience helped me to decide to NOT buy anything. I have canceled the catalog they had been sending me and have decided not to shop there since the whole experience was very stressful. UPDATE: The weather is getting cold so I went back to Soft Surroundings on 12/8/2017 to find the top that I was unsuccessful in buying in October. I was greeted upon entering the store and helped with sizes on a top I noticed on a table. The lady took the two tops I had her pick out for me. The lady said she wanted to start a room for me. I asked for help in finding the top I had come back for since it was not on the same rack it had been in October. The lady took me to the computer to look up the top and as she looked a woman walked up with a some clothing. I excused myself to allow the lady to take care of the woman since it looked like she was buying some clothing. I found the top I had tried on in October and proceeded by myself to the dressing rooms. Inside the dressing rooms, a lady asked if I wanted a room and I said that one had been started for me. We both looked and did not find the two tops. I went back out and found a customer coming towards me with my two tops that I wanted to try on. I had come back to the store with much trepidation and heard myself saying in a tone of frustration "well I guess a customer found my tops". I proceeded back to the dressing room to try on all the tops but the lady realized I was upset and asked for my feedback. I told her my whole story and how I was nervous to even come back. I found out then that the "customer" was a store clerk that was not on duty. I wondered why she came up while the on-duty clerk was helping me. All the clerks apologized and I ended up buying 2 of the tops that I had come back for. While paying for the tops I was informed that now they do not ask for your information to be put on their computer. Anyway, sadly it was another not so great experience but the staff did try to rectify the situation and gave me 10% off on the tops. read more

First off, I DON'T like to shop but I need a dress for an upcoming wedding. I had seen a few maxi dresses in the Soft Surroundings catalog that I thought I might like but wanted to try them on for size so I stopped at the store here in Tucson. The staff was so helpful, they helped me find the dresses I had picked out in the catalog (a couple were not in stock at the store), suggested other dresses I might like, and gave me feedback when I asked for it. Unfortunately they didn't have the dress in stock that I thought I might really like so they ordered it (Embroidered Maxi in black). I decided on an x-small, which was the right choice. I was able to pick it up at the store within five days, try it on, and the fit is perfect, it is comfortable and so pretty! Thank you for your help! read more

Wanted to post a good review for this store as there were some not so great reviews in the past. Bought 2 pair of super stretch shorts that I absolutely love! Wanted to thank my sales associate as she was fantastic. Unfortunately I don't remember her name , but she was fantastic read more

I love their stuff. I am an older woman of 5'2". I don't want to look dowdy. They helped me find clothes that fit, that looked good. They took time finding me what I needed, and were honest that some things did not look as good as others. read more

Some good and not so good info to report. The clothes are for a mature tall woman. Nothing for those limited in stature like myself. A mix of Cold Water Creek (which I never liked) and a make up store. I was shopping here mostly because I was looking for a lipstick color which was discontinued by Kohl's. It is the only lipstick I really like. I have been searching high and low to find a close match. You ladies understand this dilemma. I also can only look in my own little mirror to see if the shade suits me. I drove this poor young lady Amanda who really must have the patience of a saint to a point where she probably could use a stiff drink after dealing with me. It was like a comedy scene. With OSHA regulations you can't and don't want to just put on lipstick. So we were playing a juggling act with tissues, alcohol, more tissues. You get it. I ended up buying a fairly decent color but it still isn't quite what I want. The store is a strange mixture of bedding, clothes, and skin products. Maybe it works. They should think about some petite clothing as well. read more

Be Prepared! When you enter this store, you'll be knocked over by the smells. They're pumping perfume through the ventilation system. In addition there's a display of room scents right at the entrance with them all open and competing with each other. The result is that the whole store has a cloying smell. La Encatada is a high fashion center. This store is low fashion. Two other stores like this have failed here. There's no reason to expect this one to succeed. read more
