Chocolate review only (excludes their drinks and cafe menu):
After trying leonidas, dumon, the chocolate line, and pierre marcolini, this was my least favorite chocolatier because the filling flavors were least developed. I purchased a small bag for about 7 euros, and i didnt even want to finish them. Not worth the calories. Out of about 9 chocolates, the best ones were the albert koning (caramel filling in a milk chocolate cup, with a top layer or hazelnut praline) and the pineapple dark chocolate. The marzipan/elixir d'anvers hands was not to my taste because alcohol flavoring was too strong for me, while marzipan too sweet. Cherry liquor was very sweet with thin runny liquid inside. The ramses (dark chocolate with chocolate ganache and pistachio) had too much of a liquor taste in the ganache and no pistachio flavor. Ultimately, i had a few good chocolates, but too many bad ones. 2 stars for the chocolates. Also sampled their almond hand cookie--not as buttery as I expected or almond flavored.. Or anything really. Bland cookie, and not worth 3 euros for a pack of about 10 hand cookies.
On a lighter note, their patio had a full view of one of Antwerp's most beautiful churches. Delightful and charming aesthetic inside and out of the store/cafe. I will add another star for a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. read more
