Walked in easily without a wait in the morning. The tour is more informative than interactive other than the room where you can scan the audio guide at each of the chocolate exhibits. I thought the chocolate sculptures would be grander honestly so I was mildly disappointed with the experience. At the end, you get to sample 8 different types of chocolates ranging from white, ruby, gold, and different cacao levels of milk to dark chocolate. The white and milks were rich and decadent but nothing to write home about. The gold chocolate is supposed to be a caramelized white chocolate, it was very sweet and indulgent. The ruby chocolate has a lot of pronounced fruity notes -- personally not a fan of fruit with my chocolate so this one was a pass for me, but the color was gorgeous! The dark chocolates were more on the acidic side. The gift shop has a lot of chocolate varieties to choose from -- bars (plain or with toppings), rubbber duck shapes, chocolate chips, a bar with the Antwerp skyline, and much more! I selected a few bars to bring home as souvenirs. They were relatively affordable, most bars max around 5 euros, though they are on the smaller side. But I have seen pricier bars at the supermarkets, so it's a fair price for freshly made chocolate! read more

We heard this place gets busy so we booked our trip months in advance and am glad we did. I love chocolates and I love museums so this worked out well for me. The experience itself was fun and informative and the best part...OMG the best part...you get to try the liquid chocolates at the end! They give you a spoon and you get to try around 15 different varieties. I wish I had known this before, I would have eaten something before it. A lot of liquid chocolate first thing in the morning is not a good idea but it was worth it and I would do it again. read more

This museum was an interactive fun experience! From the moment you start the partially virtually guided tour it's amazing. There are multiple rooms you get guided through with a little audio remote that have visuals and interactive displays on how chocolate is grown and processed. After that you get to view a massive area of chocolate art which is beyond impressive. There is an area where you can watch chefs make chocolate. Towards the end of the tour there is a chocolate tasting! They have about 8 machines with liquid chocolate in various flavors and you get to grab a spoon and taste all the chocolates. This was an amazing way to spend a few hours of our time in Belgium! The store they have is also insane. You can find just about any type of chocolate including chocolate shoes! I brought back so many yummy treats for my family and the pricing was very reasonable. If you're in Antwerp you have to come here! read more

We weren't sure if this would be worth it, but we loved it!! My only complaint is that it smelled like raw sewage from the start of the tour until we reached the floor that was actually making chocolate. It was so bad, I pulled my sweater over my nose... not great when you're trying to learn about chocolate! I appreciated how it was more of a tour than a museum, that took you room to room and told a story. There were so many cool, interactive elements to the tour. I felt like I learned so much here! But of course the best part about Chocolate Nation is the chocolate tastings at the end. You get a spoon, get in line, and move down a line of chocolate dispensers, tasting different varieties. This was SO much fun! I think we tasted 10-12 chocolates. Then we ended in the gift shop where there were plenty of different varieties of chocolate to buy! There's also an entire wall with the chocolate flavors you just tasted available for purchase. That was so nice that we were able to taste different varieties before purchasing! I also felt like the prices were very fair in the gift shop. read more

We had a fun time exploring this fun and unique museum. It starts off with some cool audio and visual effects as you wander through a few different rooms to learn how chocolate is made. Then you visit some different rooms where an audio guide will tell you more about different pioneers in the chocolate industry, different types of chocolate, and advancements that have been made. The audio guide didn't always seem to work. Unlike many places where you key in a number to hear the info, this one you scanned it almost like your remote control for your TV, but myself and most around me seemed to have trouble with some. Not a huge deal as there was TONS to listen to. The last room is full of about a dozen vats of different flavors of liquid chocolate. They let you into the room and give you a spoon and you get to sample the chocolate by holding your spoon underneath the spout and pulling down a lever. It was yummy! Some people seemed to mention all you can eat, but in our case it seemed like you were sort of herded through so that would be hard to do. Fortunately although it is delicious, it is also very rich so I'm not sure I would want all you can eat unless I was ready for an upset stomach. There also was a little bit of a hiccup when we arrived. We stored our coats and bags in the complimentary lockers but as we got in line to purchase our tickets, some sort of alarm went off and they had to get the people who were already in, out, and it delayed our entry by almost a full hour. Props to the staff who really tried to keep us entertained while we were waiting. They did bring us free water bottles, and samples of little chocolate balls that were good. I wish I got their names because a couple of staff members really did a nice job in an unexpected situation. All in all we enjoyed our trip to visit chocolate nation, and would encourage you to visit if in Antwerp! read more

This is a gem of a tourist attraction in Antwerp, right at the entrance of the city's Chinatown. We came in at close to the last entrance of the day on a Saturday night and we had the museum to ourselves. The exhibit is very well done. You go through the first few rooms guided and then it opens up and you can tap the audio guide on the sensor and listen to the different exhibits at your own pace. There are almost too many things to listen to in that room. The projection room is impressive. You sit at the tables and it's unclear what's going to happen until the show starts. Wow! They did a demonstration with a live chocolate maker and we also received samples. The final room with unlimited samples was also very cool and very delicious. Since we had all never hear of ruby chocolate before, most of us were inspired to purchase ruby chocolate from the extensive gift shop at the end of the tour. This is a very impressive attraction and I learned a lot about Belgian chocolate. read more

Cute little tour. Not too long. Would be great for kids & adults. Very accessible. They first give you audio players according to your language. Then groups are let through each section by doors that open & close automatically to control the flow of traffic (which is brilliant). Your audio player can scan items & then plays info accordingly. Then, the tour tops off with the chocolate tasting! All kinds of chocolate from all over: Milk, dark, golden, white, & pink. Amazing tour even without the free in person tastings....... They've limited the number of tickets offered so there is heightened safety. Masks required. Given an audio guide, we entered room after room of narrative that expanded how only the best chocolate makes it to Belgium & how the chocolate makers then turn it into scrumptious Belgian chocolate The stage setup, the automation, the lights & the entire setup was incredible. Totally selfie-worthy & there were lots of opportunities to do just that And let's not overlook the chocolate sculptures and chance to see the atelier kitchen (all behind glass) where they make fun shapes like shoes or soccer balls And as a parting gift, we were provided with a goodie bag of all the flavors we would have been able to try while there, had we not been in a pandemic situation - so we still got to enjoy all the flavors from the different cacao beans.......this was definitely as good as it gets read more

Go straight to the chocolate fountain sampling at the end - it was the best chocolate experience I had in my life - truly chocolate heaven. They give you a spoon to sample 10 liquid chocolates, but you can refill as many times as possible. You go from white chocolate, to ruby, to caramel, to milk, to darker and darker chocolates. While I usually enjoy eating dark chocolate, their milk and caramel chocolates were amazing. If you are looking for a tasty and informative experience, I highly recommend a visit to Chocolate Nation in Antwerp. We did a self-guided audio tour with the family. The tour was filled with interactive videos, beautiful hand-crafted chocolate displays, photo opportunities, live visual demonstrations of chocolatiers busily working away and my all time favorite the tasting experience in the end.
