I needed an urgent appointment and Dr. Sockolov's staff and PA squeezed me in the same morning, saw me 30 minutes before the scheduled time when I arrived early, performed a thorough exam, competently diagnosed the problem and scheduled a referral to an excellent specialist the same day. All the PAs (never been graced with an MD) and medical assistants I have encountered here have been marvelous, however the office staff could use some lessons in people skills. The person who schedules is short with me every single time I call and honestly quite rude. I know this is a busy thriving practice, but she is the first point of contact and not a good look for customer service. Thankfully, appointments are, mostly, readily available and being seen within a day or so is possible. God forbid you go there and get referred out to specialty care though, because then you run into the referral specialist who does not answer the phone- EVER! And if you leave a voicemail, does not answer them with a return call. You MIGHT get a response through MyHillChart. Might! But if you do, be prepared to wait for that response and then have it be laced with cynicism. And if you call the office to speak to ANYONE to try to get some clarity not through typed words, good luck!! It isnt happening! Left a message with the advice nurse a week ago, still haven't received a call back. If you aren't happy with the doctor they have chosen for you (especially if sent to someone you specifically asked not to see), getting a referral rerouted becomes a battle not for the faint of heart. Since the phone seems to be broken for this employee there will miscommunication and strife trying to get answers and good chances your referral will have to be rerouted a few times to get to the person of your choice. It will be a lengthy process, even for an "Urgent" referral. All in all, while I am happy with the clinical staff and care they provide, the office staff more than overshadows every interaction making it difficult to do much of anything in a timely manner and without tearing your hair out. read more

Was a Patient at this clinic for years. I even brought both my husband and my daughter to this medical practice. Last month I had a upsetting encounter with my PCP (Waterbury). Moments after my visit, I received a secured msg asking me to rate my visit, one of those, between 1-5 how likely would you recommend this physician. Well I answered truthfully which was not a stellar review and not one week later, I receive another secured msg, this time from Dr. Ronald Sockolov, informing me that they were no longer going to be my provider. If you look through the other reviews, you'll see that a few others had a similar encounter and outcome. This medical office prefers to just drop patients that voice concerns or dare to have complaints about their experiences, rather then be professional and follow up on those complaints before terminating the relationship. Tried to find a new primary care physician, and tried out this location. Was told I had to see a PA before I could see the actual doctor. Did so, then had a health issue come up which required an appt for more than one thing to be checked up on. Was told that they will only schedule individual appointments for one issue at a time, so I gladly drove out of the way to auburn to another doctors office and now have a new doctor that actually seems to care about what his patients are going through. -thinking about finding a doctor who might care how your health is going? Tucked away in an old dingy office lies the lowest of the low of medical staff. What they lack in pleasantries, they definitely don't try to make up for in anything else. Awful service. Awful people. The moment you voice the slightest concern about the services received, they will send you a nasty letter dropping you from their care. Based on these other reviews, it seems like this experience isn't unique to me. I genuinely believe they think it's funny to treat their patients poorly. The only time a test necessary for my care has been denied coverage by my insurer was when I needed an MRI and the physician's assistant handled the "peer to peer" review. When I complained, I was told that "Dr. Ron" considers PAs to be his peers. No offer to have any of the MDs follow up. So, if you choose this facility as your primary care provider, be prepared to actively manage your own care or you may find your care "managed" by a physician's assistant without the experience or expertise to do so. Expect that communications will be through a patient portal, not by phone call. Expect that even the PAs will not communicate directly through the patient portal but will leave that chore to someone else in the office, maybe a nurse or office assistant. Expect that, when they say to allow 48 hours for a response to a message posted to the portal, they really mean 72 to 96 hours, if at all. Expect that follow up questions will not be answered. Expect that when they say their office hours go to 5:00, they really mean 4:45 and they will disconnect you if you call before 4:45 and are on hold waiting for someone to answer. Expect that if you complain, they will drop you as a patient. read more

Yes, shame on us for tolerating it, forced to change when we also were dropped after expressing concern over the lack of processing a much needed referral. I am not basing this review of the doctors but the receptionist presently there and who ever I spoke to before. I called to make a new patient appointment and both times the receptionist kept huffing and puffing as if I was seriously bothering her. She even interpreted me as I was trying to explain that I needed to schedule an appointment to tell me she didn't think my insurance (Blue Cross) was accepted there. I explained I was referred by my insurance to which she deep sighed and threw a calendar date at me. The next time I called to reschedule either the same person or another one had the same terrible attitude. I live half a mile from this location but would rather seek another office elsewhere than be mistreated for no reason at all. Made the transition from a general practice pediatrician Dr I grew up with so easy. After struggling with leaving the family Dr we used since I can remember, I just rolled the dice and picked someone close by who was compatible with insurance. Starting in 2019 with my first few checkups, nothing really stood out that was good or bad to review. HOT Summer 2021 hit a little later this year in Sacramento and this is my first summer without a pool on site so I was itching to swim. Arrived in Phenix and stayed in Scottsdale for 3 nights, took full advantage of the sun, and swimming to the max. So much so that when I boarded the plane the following Sunday morning first flight out of Phenix, I failed to realize the water was still stuck in my ear from swimming. Funny, it really did not bother me till the following day when I popped the ears, did the jump on one foot, put apple cider vinegar in it, put h202 in it, and that water would not come out. Looks like having water in the swimmer's ear then going up in a plane causes the water to really get Jamed in their behind the eardrum. I felt lame making an appointment at a Dr. for such a silly reason. Turned out to be a good idea because it can be an infection. I called at 8:00 sharp the following day and it really started bothering me. The water would not come out like you have an earplug in one ear. Chelsea got me in for an appointment immediately, her assistant asked if I could be there at 8:25 am, I said YES PLEASE. Arrived and she knew exactly what to do Had me back for a follow-up a few days later and was 75% better. By the end of the following week, it was 100%. Fast, friendly, respectful, highly intelligent, highly experienced, and also not afraid to call in another expert for a second opinion which she did on the follow-up. Chelsea will likely move up fast or transfer to some prestigious medical clinic back east sooner than later, so I can only hope she still keeps her same patients when I see her at the TOP! This practice used to be an amazing office. When I say it has gone downhill, I am not exaggerating, if I could give them negative stars I would. I have been with this practice for over 20 plus years and in the last year they have not been able to keep staff. This seems to be a miserable place to work as well as go for help. Even talking to some of the staff they have made statements about how this place has gone downhill and that they can't keep staff. The turnover in this place is just one example of their terrible service. If you need just someone to help out with sports related injuries then they are just ok, if you have any real issues this place is trash, go somewhere else! read more

Had a sudden cardiac issue and specialist wanted an echo done immediately. Said to go to primary, Sockolov & Sockolov, to schedule it. Front office staff wouldn't schedule an appt that day with primary because they were booked and didn't have the simple common sense to talk to a nurse, PA, or doc to confirm their uninformed decision. Saw the doc the next day and he was dumbfounded by the front office staff decision, but still didn't realize it is an easy fix. Will never go back to this practice again, and my wife who is a 25 year patient of theirs, decided to change practices herself. Going back to UCD Health where patient care seems to be a priority and not a jumbled mess of poorly communicating disjointed medicine. read more

Was a patient of Ron and Alvin Sockolov for 20 years. Pretty awful doctors over the past 20 years, stayed with this office out of convenience. Extremely rude staff -- always -- as though they hire them on purpose. I had to re-introduce myself to both Ron and Alvin every time I saw them (probably 15 times in the 20 year period). I had been a patient of Sockolov and Sockolov for over 30 years and after writing a letter critiquing one of their doctors (Dr. Jude Waterbury) on the way he handled an office visit with my daughter Dr. Ron wrote her a letter declining to be her primary care provider. He never contacted me to get more information on the visit than I could document in the letter, just blew her off. I followed up with a letter to Dr. Ron letting him know I thought his actions were disrespectful and I would be leaving his practice on my own, he need not send me a letter. I do want to point out that one of his doctors (Dr. Ingvild Lane) is excellent, which is most likely why she is booked so far in advance it doesn't make sense to have her as your primary. read more

I've been seeking a new physician for several weeks since relocating from Arizona. Today was my first day as a new patient at Sockolov's office in Sacramento, CA. I was assigned to Kasmian Campa (P.A, C) who treated me as if was his only patient today. I was extremely pleased with his professionalism, knowledge, and most importantly his communication skills. He offered useful information, he challenged and encouraged me at the same time. I have visited with several nurse practitioners and Kasmian is awesome. Everything was personalized and geared towards me and my well- being. He's very relatable and efficient with his delivery. This may sound weird but, I'm looking forward visiting with him again. I've been going here for years, and I usually see Dr. Joelson. He's a good doc, and he takes care of my needs; never had an issue with him. The front desk personnel can be a different story sometimes. Not that friendly at times, but I usually get taken care of. I just hate going to the doc, and getting greeted with anything less than a smile can kind of make it worse for me. The body language you get from them just makes you feel awkward at times. I won't be too hard of them because I don't know what it's like to work there. I'll give them a four; fix the customer services here, and I'll upgrade to a 5 ;-) read more

They will make you feel like an unwelcomed guests. The only reason I kept returning for years is to be seen by Leah Gumpert, NP. She left and no one from the office alerted her patients even after seeing her exclusively for years. Then they refused to tell me where she's practicing now. They make you come back for individual visits depending on what you have going on -OR- make you come back in and re-pay your copay when in fact THEY were the ones who screwed up. So sad. Every time. I see the negative reviews and wanted to post my positive one. My doctor there is Randall Winslow D.O.. He has always shown great concern and taken the time to figure out what the true problem is. I have not always been real happy with some of the other docyors there, but Dr. Winslow and a previous one who has since left, Steven Mo, have both been fantastic. As far as the office staff goes, my wife and I have been going there since they were across the street (almost 20 years) and we love the staff. Sorry that others had problems, it does happen. My wife and I have been seeing Dr. Ron for many years and I have never encountered any of the negative experiences that I have seen on this site. Rather, I have experienced a friendly office staff that have been responsive to my appointment needs. The fact that he and his partners are so popular means that there is a heavy load of work for everyone to sift through when checking in. But once I am in the office I have found that, just like in the outside world, people will react in a way that mirrors the way that you treat them. From the front desk to the Doctor's Assistant I have never had cause to feel slighted or neglected. Doctor Ron has a very pragmatic approach. He has worked extensively with athletes as well as dancers. People who have done their best to take care of themselves. He expects you to take responsibility for your body and your side of the healing process. If you take the time to ask him questions, he will engage you as much as is needed to make you feel that you know exactly what is going on. He has a great referral list and works well with all of his allied professionals. I can't think of a better Medical Practitioner. read more

Today, was the second time I have had the displeasure of taking my father here when they have confused him with another patient, and then, wanted to argue with me about my father's identity and birthdate. I went to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ron Sockolov and noticed the negative reviews they received. I've been a patient for over 20 years and although I rarely go to the doctor, I am able to get an appointment usually within a few days of calling. Dr. Ron has been great over the years. He listens to me and involves me in the discussion about my treatment. He is quick to make referrals if necessary and tells me what he is writing in my chart to make sure it's accurate. Recently they have been doing patient surveys to improve their service, but I've never had anything negative to say. I've only seen the other doctors a few times, but they were great too. The nurses and CNA's have been professional and respectful. I would recommend this office to anyone. read more

Stay away from this practice. The majority of physicians are incompetent and the one quality doctor is so busy it will take months to schedule an appointment. Their billing department is the worst and will come after you personally even if you have insurance. I was a patient for at least a decade and have watched the practice descend rapidly. I cannot express how disappointed I am with this practice!! I have been a long time patient for about 15 years, and absolutely nothing has changed! Why do I stay you ask? I'm lazy and just haven't spent the time to find a good doctor! That my problem. I don't even know who my doctor is...I've never seen him before! ....In 15 years! My mom has seen him a couple times and says he has THE worst bedside manner! I always see the NPs and they are very nice, unfortunately the good ones never stay! First,the ladies at the front are VERY rude. Not like a need a super bubbly girl behind the counter, but some personality would be nice! for many years I always got the older "you're always annoying her attitude" lady, then I heard she went on leave and they hired a temp. She was just as bad and always sighed whenever you would talk to her, so it always seemed you were bugging her. She seemed to have stopped doing it, but still is always annoyed whenever I'm at the front counter. Then the older lady came back, so now there are two women who sit there hating life! I have seen them act the same way with other patients, so its not just me, and they are always on the phone making personal calls when people aren't waiting at the counter. The last straw was when I waited for 45 minutes to be seen. Now, let me preface this by saying I had an appt, and made said appt with enough time...it wasn't a last minute thing! This is a very common occurrence too with them. A couple years ago I was forgotten while waiting for a throat swab! The first annoyance was when I showed up early for my 11:15 appt, and waited in the lobby for 25 minutes before I was brought back, the asst took my vitals and said the NP would be in shortly. I waited and waited and waited, finally at noon she showed up (20 min of me in the waiting room). Now, I'm a patient person, if someone would've told me they were running late, I would've been fine with that! Back to the last straw....the same thing happened to me again. I showed up 4:05, 10 minutes early and waited. Then a lady who had a 4:00 (20 min late mind you) appt checked in to see my same NP, then I knew I was screwed. They ended up taking her first, which in turn made my very simple appt (I needed paperwork just filed out for a job) take 45 min total. I've also made early morning appt thinking because later in the day the times might be running late...oh no is just as bad! I can't take it anymore, I have no faith on their diagnosis, they throw antibiotics at me everytime and it never works so I'm forced to come back and endure the front staff and waiting all over again. Half the time I just don't come back and go to a doc in the box and get the care I need. I have to go in again to get results of a test this week (I'm going on my lunch cause they said i dont need an appt) and will NOT tolerate waiting 45 minutes! I get time off work to go to these apps and its wasted just sitting there!! read more
