We were told this would be a good place to gather our group (of approximately 15). We arrived and there were groups on the main floor, so we went to the second floor and found plenty options for seating. There are various TV screens on the main floor and one screen on the top floor. They have a traditional botequim menu and full meal options. The dishes are well served, and could easily feed two to three people. We ordered the croquets, French fries, frango a passarinho and stroganoff de frango. Food was good, nothing out of the ordinary. Good portions and served our hungry bellies well. If you order the chicken Bauru, be prepared cause its HUGE! Regarding the drinks, here is where we were not as impressed. They have a whole page in their menu listing International Beers (and a sign of all the foreign beers offered), but as my friends were going to order - they were informed that NONE of those beers were in stock. Bear in mind, this was a Saturday evening. Their other drink selections are also a bit limited, juices were only orange, pineapple or maracujá (same flavors for caipirinhas). The other point that didn't leave a good impression was service. There was just one waiter on the top floor, and there were two other groups on the top floor, besides us. And so from time to time, the waiter would disappear or not be looking at our table for our orders. I think we asked for ketchup three times, and had to remind them of some drinks that were taking a while. And, requesting the check was also a decent wait.... As this seems to be a place that many people seem to enjoy, as a traditional location, I would like to think that our experience was a one-time deal. Maybe the next time, we will have a better experience. But, based on this one, I'd go try elsewhere...

Alfa bar is located in front of the famous and very hype Comuna. Since Comuna gets so crowded, people end up in Alfa. Tables on the street, nice waiters, interesting people around and always a good time. Not much more to say. Actually, if this bar were located anywhere else, it would not have a single review, I assure you that! But location and good price always count. Great recommendation if you wanna check the hipster side of the city and enjoy a cheaper beer.

The bright yellow awning makes and easy to spot meeting point and though the service can be slow, the point is to relax and observe the ways of Rio. There's plenty of liquor to chose from. Some cheap beers, an espresso and a few refrigerantes are also options but don't focus too much on the quality of the food. The view of teatro municipal is perfect and it sits right next to the câmara municipal. Plus metro Cinelândia is right there as well as a majority of city buses at one convenient stop which makes getting there easy.

Bottom line: Underwhelming tourist trap?…read more I ate here after asking some employees of the nearby theater where they would eat for lunch. In my group we ordered file de carne, file de peixe and the file de frango. All dishes came with fries. The menu options were the usual suspects and were too salty, as most food in Brazil typically is. The beef, fish and chicken were generic and overcooked, in my opinion. The dish was overpowered by the salt and simplified the protein to a salt delivery system. One item to note was that it was nice to see they did carry a dark beer on the menu. I don't think I would recommend this to others. Due to its location and inviting outdoor seating, I think that I have to call this a tourist trap. It seemed like such a great place from the outside but we were all disappointed by the food.
