The girls at the front desk were very helpful when we checked in, as they gave us a quick run down on where everything was on the property. When we got to our room we found it nicely furnished and most of all, very clean! The kitchenette was a nice addition to the room and came in handy storing our drinks in the fridge and a spot to make sandwiches for our days out. The bathroom was spacious and included the usual soap, shampoo, etc, along with plenty of towels. Continental breakfast can be found in the front lobby area every morning, and the pool was refreshing after a long day of walking and sight seeing. Bicycles are also available to guests for a quick ride to the nearby beach or the downtown area! Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay here again! He offered us complimentary water and took the time to explain all the amenities. For the price, this stay is absolutely worth it! It comes with free Wi-Fi, an in-room coffee and tea bar, complimentary continental breakfast each morning, and even free bike rentals. Our room was super clean and a really good size. We had two queen beds, and they were incredibly soft and comfortable. The room had all the essentials you could need, including an iron and ironing board, hair dryer, ice bucket, extra blankets, and a small refrigerator. The bathroom was also stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and even lotion. One of my favorite little touches was the makeup towel! I often leave a face towel pretty messy after removing my makeup, so I really appreciated that detail. Parking is free, and you can park right next to your room, which is extremely convenient. As far as location, the wharf, restaurants, and shops are all within walking distance. It's the perfect spot to stay--no traffic, no noise, and very quaint and relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

Upon arriving at 12:30, we were informed that since the hotel only had one patio suite, unfortunately the guests currently occupying the room were authorized 2:00 check out. Then the room had to be cleaned so we would get a phone call once the room was ready around 3:00. We returned at 3:00 and then were then told "unfortunately the room is still not ready" so we sat in the lobby for nearly another hour until 4:00, the room was ready. I will make this very simple and list the pros and cons, but overall the room was shabby and dated. Pros: 1) The bed was very comfortable. 2) The mini refrigerator worked well to keep our service dogs food cold. Cons: 1) The wall air conditioners (2 of them) were extremely loud. Along with all the other loud rumbling noise coming into this room from outside, including the laundry facility, the neighbours air conditioner good luck, trying to watch TV or sleep. Not happening! 2) The shower pressure was no more than a drizzle, which was not optimal when we just spent three hours walking around in the heat waiting for the room to be ready. 3) The bathroom sink was clogged, filling up and draining so slow. Nothing worse than trying to brush your teeth in a hotel sink that filled up with disgusting water. 4) The furniture was old, but seemed fairly clean. The carpet the walls everything else in the room was dirty. 5) Yes the patio was large, but it was absolutely filthy. The outdoor furniture was stained dirty, and the carpet was disgusting. I wouldn't let my service dog get near that furniture. We ended up eating our dinner on a small table with two chairs in until the two dryer vents above. It started shooting out hot air and dust. This was extremely disappointing that we paid an extra $125.00 for this "patio room". In summary for $785.00 quoted on marriott.com, I have never felt so ripped off in my 35 years as an elite Bonvoy member. This was highway robbery! Parking is $30 per day but the supervisor graciously waived this fee due to the clogged sink. The only reason that I gave this review two stars is the front desk Staff were very nice. Obviously, we will not be returning to this property in Santa Barbara. I should have known being a Courtyard!

The parking was limited but we got lucky that they have two large parking spots for EV which we were able to use. Note this venue also shares St Ramy(?) pool, jacuzzi, and restaurant. I thought they would include continental breakfast but they don't. All we get are three chips for 3 different alcoholic/non alcoholic drinks. I just grabbed the coffee latte, Arnold Palmer and lemonade to go. The inside courtyard is very spacious and clean and uses the beige white decor around. There is an instant espresso maker for hot water and coffee which many people took advantage. I got a few hot waters to go. As for our room, we were on the second floor away from the view of the pool and Main Street which gave us some peace and quiet. The room was super spacious as well as the bathroom was pretty convenient to use. I did ask the host for extra blankets which I got but it was definitely smelly when I used them. I don't think they got washed when I got to them. So definitely request another next time. Overall great venue and wish I could use more of the amenities but was only there for a day. Pricey so I should look at points next time.

We absolutely loved our stay back then, so we were excited to come back. The positives first: the ladies at check-in were pleasant and helpful, and we were given a first-floor room with a nice patio overlooking the pool. The lobby, grounds, and pool area are still beautiful, and we enjoyed the live music both nights. We loved the beach/surf vibe. Unfortunately, that's where much of the charm ended. The rooms are in serious need of updating and maintenance. The baseboards were deteriorating, the curtains were dirty and stained, one of the drawers was crooked and difficult to open, and we encountered the same slithering bug twice..once in the shower and again when getting out of the shower. There was also a spider nestled in a web in the corner of the bathroom. The sliding glass door to the bathroom was extremely difficult to open/close, getting roughly stuck on the track, and it wouldn't shut completely. We called the front desk, and a young gentleman came out and very pleasantly tried to fix it. He did his best and improved it slightly, but this is clearly an issue with the entire door and track and not something that could really be fixed with a quick adjustment. The bathroom setup was also baffling. Why put blurred glass as the door between the bedroom and bathroom? When someone turns on the bathroom light, it shines directly into the bedroom and can easily wake someone up. The door itself was also grinding when opening and closing because of the rough track. Then came our experience at the bar/restaurant, which was particularly disappointing. We decided to stay in one evening and enjoy dinner and drinks, so we sat at the bar. We were the only people sitting there, with three bartenders behind the bar, yet not one acknowledged us. The head bartender was making drinks for guests sitting on the patio, walked away to hand them to the server, and then began talking about one of those customers. We overheard her say something along the lines of, "Just spit in her drink." Whether it was intended as a joke or not, that is an incredibly inappropriate thing to say in front of guests...and certainly not something you want to hear from someone handling your food and drinks. After approximately 15 minutes of sitting there without being acknowledged, we finally got someone to take our order. To be fair, both of our drinks were excellent, but the bartender's attitude was cold, unfriendly, and completely lacking in hospitality. It made us feel as though we were an inconvenience rather than guests. Shortly afterward, another couple sat down beside us, and a gentleman who appeared to be the GM approached them and casually said in an unwelcoming voice, "I'll be with you in a second.", like they just didn't want to be botheredz Unfortunately, the bar and restaurant area itself also looked tired and in need of some serious TLC. For a property with such beautiful grounds and so much potential, the condition of the interior spaces was disappointing. We really wanted to love The Leta as much as we loved The Goodland in 2019, but the experience simply didn't live up to our memories. The property still has a beautiful setting, great outdoor spaces, and a fun atmosphere, but the rooms, maintenance, and level of service need significant attention. With some investment and a stronger focus on hospitality, this could once again be a really special place to stay.... but definitely not worth the $972 we paid for two nights.

Although checkin was not until 3:00pm, two rooms out of three were available at 1:30pm to checkin. The room was clean as well as the bathroom. The white towels in the room looked very dingy though. Honestly those dingy towels including face towels need to be tossed and replaced with new ones. Although this hotel is walking distance to the beach I really prefer staying at a hotel with a pool. Note this hotel has NO pool. This hotel does have FREE parking. Which was a plus as one of our friends drove to Santa Barbara. The customer service we received during our stay was excellent. The breakfast snacks laid out in the morning was a nice touch. Especially if you want something light before you start your day. You'll find that the hotels in Santa Barbara are pricey including La Playa Inn. I don't regret staying here though because of the excellent customer service we received from staff.

Having been away from Santa Barbara for many years, we were excited to have a restful and celebratory evening and trusted the internet's recommendation of this place. The service was nice enough when we arrived, but the lack of amenities and the quality of the bed and pillows were a real letdown. I wish I had called the other hotels nearby to ask about their rates before committing, but we were on a road trip and didn't have the patience. Our room was modern and clean, but it faced and was right above aneighboring parking lot, and that combined with the street noise, was not especially conducive to rest. The AC unit also made a remarkable amount of noise. It did not bother me too much, but for light sleepers it could be a challenge. The best parts were the exterior, which feels very Santa Barbara, the free parking, and the complimentary pastries at breakfast. That said, there are several inns and hotels around the same rate, or sometimes only $50-$80 more after fees and parking, that offer on-property bars, restaurants, pools, and amenities I had assumed were fairly standard at a $300-a-night inn or hotel, including things as simple as Q-tips and comfortable pillows, and bathroom doors which actually insulate your private moments from the rest of the room. We should have done more research beforehand and noticed that this place did not have a pool or any facilities beyond a vending machine. However, it appeared in online results alongside full-service hotels rather than motels, so I expected a little more. My primary complaint is the bed and pillows. The pillows were barely more than bags filled with an extremely lightweight, shapeless foam material, and the mattress sank so deeply that the bed felt more like a nice pull-out couch than a proper hotel bed. The pillows reminded me of what I bought at Target for $11 before moving into my college dorm room. Fine in a motel for $150/ night, disappointing for twice that. The free parking seems to be a major draw, and it is certainly convenient, but I would still encourage people to explore other options if they have an extra $50-$80 to spend and care about the quality of the room where they spend the night. With one exception, the nearest restaurants and bars are about a 10-15-minute walk away. State Street is at least a 12-minute, 0.6-mile walk, while many other inns and hotels in the area have bars and food on the property or immediately nearby. The beach is technically one block away, although this property is toward the far end of it rather than near the main activity. We ended up ubering from state street back to the hotel. I think that if you are traveling with children, do not need many hotel amenities, or are really just looking for somewhere clean and convenient to sleep, this is a perfectly fine spot. I also should have done more research beforehand, and I cannot blame the property for amenities it never claimed to offer. Still, I do think its surprisingly glowing online reputation creates expectations that the actual experience does not truly meet. In my opinion i would describe this place as a nice, well-kept two-star inn /motel, and if that is what you are looking for, it could be a lovely choice. Many other guests were happy and that is certainly worth something.

First time in Santa Barbara!!!…read more This weekend was my wife's 40th birthday and to celebrate, we wanted to get out of town for the weekend and visit somewhere neither of us had ever been. In enters the idea of Santa Barbara. First thing we noticed when looking into hotels was everything was very expensive. I think this was exacerbated by graduation weekend and being a holiday weekend. We settled on Inn by the Harbor after looking at other options and it seemed small and quaint but like a beautiful property and it affords its guests with free parking. Traffic coming up from San Diego was atrocious from the moment we reached LA, but after five and a half hours we made it! It felt good to get out and stretch and we made our way to the lobby. The front of the resort is small but beautiful and has a very Spanish appearance. It was very green and beautiful as well as being centrally located being close to the harbor and the funk zone. We were greeted by Sam who got us checked in quickly, gave us a rundown of the town and even offered us complimentary beverages after he saw that it was my wife's birthday. Sam was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We made our way to the room on the inner portion of the complex and the greenery was very welcoming as we approached the door to our room. The room was small, but furnished nicely, had plenty of storage space, a TV, microwave, AC and a small area near the bathroom where my wife could get ready. There were windows on the front and rear of the room which allowed plenty of natural light which was also nice. The maids were also very friendly when we'd say hello as we were coming and going. We were very comfortable during our stay and it appears they take good care of the complex and the rooms. Although we didn't partake, I also appreciate the fact that they have complimentary breakfast as well as a wine and cheese happy hour in the afternoon. Checkout time was 11am which was plenty and it was nice not having to call for a late checkout. As previously mentioned, this was our first trip up to Santa Barbara but if we find ourselves up here again, I would have no question on where to stay. It's a nice inn and was only a 10-15 minute walk to wherever we wanted to go.

I enjoyed the pool all to myself this past week. I will say the heater certainly wasn't on the whole time and it was a bit chilly at first but I felt it kick on after a while! My only other issue is that the rooms are rather small. We paid for an upgraded room and I feel like it was still pretty tiny. And there's only a wine fridge that doesn't really keep anything cold at all. Other than that though I really do enjoy the Milo. The rentable bikes are a great touch, as are the smores at the front desk. Though I never got to try them this trip because they are only from 6-8. The rooms are decorated very nicely. Kudos to the designer for working within the small space that they got. Touches like mounting the TV and having furniture that does not take up a lot of room goes noticed. People saying that it feels like a MOTEL have not spent much time in beach towns, I fear! It's not the freaking Ritz but the Milo is very charming and has a lot of really nice outdoor spaces. And also to the people complaining about parking that is on YOU for valeting in a neighborhood with ample free street parking in one of the most walkable cities in California!!

The reservation was made well in advance because it was Labor Day weekend. Our check-in time was supposed to be after 4pm on Saturday, September 5th. We arrived at the hotel at 5:20pm and the receptionist tells us that the building in which our room is located doesn't have any water and she can't let us check in and has no idea when it will be fixed or if we'll even be able to check in at all. I asked why no one called us to let us know and the receptionist LIED and told me the water problem just happened recently. In fact, another receptionist confessed that the water problem started not recently at all but at 11am: 6 hours earlier! The staff offered no assistance once so ever. My husband and I started frantically looking for a hotel room for that night...on Labor Day weekend. There was not a single room anywhere in Santa Barbara, Montecito, Summerland, Solvang, Los Olivos, Goleta, Santa Ynez, or even Bulletin! We searched on-line, we called multiple hotels that looked like they may have availability, but not one had a room on such short notice on a holiday weekend. Not even a motel room. Meanwhile I overheard the hotel employees talking amongst themselves saying "should we be calling other guests to let them know?" I again questioned the staff about their complete lack of assistance or care about the situation and that they were leaving guests stranded without anywhere to sleep. Maybe if we had been notified right away and started looking for a room at noon instead of 5:30pm we would have found something. Or better yet, maybe the staff should have called around to local hotels at 11am to help find new accommodations for all the guests the hotel was leaving stranded! All the hotel employee could say is "we'll refund you free of charge." That is a direct quote. Free of charge?! You haven't provided us anything for which to charge us! Nothing was offered to help smooth over the situation: not a free stay at a later date, not a meal, not even a bottle of wine. All the staff was able to "offer" was a shrug and an insincere "sorry" as if she was apologizing for canceling a dinner reservation and not completely leaving us stranded without anywhere to sleep for the night. We made weekend childcare arrangements. We made reservations for wine tastings and for meals. All of that was completely lost and the entire birthday weekend ruined because The Milo's staff lacked any compassion or professionalism in a situation that could have been easily avoided. I have stayed at The Milo 4 times and have always recommended it to friends but I will never stay there again.

Biggest perk for us was that the hotel was incredibly dog friendly. They allow pets for no extra fee and even gave us complimentary dog beds and bowls and treats! The entire staff (Maddie, Alex, and Natalie at the front desk) were beyond friendly and accommodating - loved them so much we were happy to interact with them when we saw them on the town. The valet and cleaning staff were also super helpful and very nice. The hotel and rooms itself are tastefully decorated with some beautiful historical touches and the whole place was very clean. There's even a fitness room which we missed on this stay but will most likely be making use of in the future. We booked this hotel through a different website which offered a great deal and we are pleased to report it was well worth it! This will definitely be the home of our future stays in this beautiful town.

I stayed here for my birthday and accidentally left a small bag behind in the room upon checkout…read more Inside an inner zippered pocket was a $1,300 gold necklace I had purchased in Peru. As soon as I got home, I realized I had left the bag and called the hotel immediately. They agreed to return it once I provided a prepaid FedEx shipping label. When the package arrived, the bag was there, but the necklace had been removed from the zippered pocket. It was completely secure inside, so there is zero chance it simply slipped out. When I called to speak with management, the manager became immediately defensive and dismissed my concern, stating he fully trusted his staff. Even so, basic loss prevention and handling protocols clearly failed. I subsequently emailed corporate claims regarding the incident, but my message was completely ignored. Looking at TripAdvisor and Yelp, other guests report similar experiences with missing items, only to be met with the same dismissive attitude from the general manager. Proceed with caution if you stay here.

The walls are paper-thin so we were treated (exposed?) to the sounds of the couple next door having sex. We could tell that gal's day was off to a really great start! The controls for the heat and the A/C are really unusual, so they have to provide instructions on how to use them. They did so by handing me a folded sheet of white paper, but they did not say what it was. Only that it had some information about the hotel. The place is really run down with many broken features. They had two blow driers in the bathroom, one of which was broken. A broken soap dispenser in the shower, and the deadbolt of the door was also broken. They didn't even provide a plastic cup to get a drink of water. What an incredibly low-end cost cutting measure! Loaner bicycles are available, but five out of six had flat tires. Their online presence is very deceiving. I would not recommend the place.
