Right next door to ice cream place which apparently is a HUGE DEAL!

5 stars Social Stays - Luxury Hostel | Santa Barbara, CA https://book.thesocialstay.com Safe, cozy, and CLEAN--exactly what I needed after a 16-hour shift! I'm a traveling respiratory therapist, and this place was a total lifesaver. The setup includes open cubicles and shared bathrooms, but it's right in the middle of everything, which made it super convenient. They're strict about quiet hours and lights out at 10 p.m.--which was perfect for someone like me who just needed real rest. Guests were respectful, and my favorite part? They were constantly cleaning, which gave me so much peace of mind. Bring headphones if you're a light sleeper, but overall, Social Stays is a budget-friendly gem for a good night's rest in Santa Barbara.

Hotels were either sold out, super far or ridiculously priced at over $400/night. I saw the hostel & he said he loved the idea...meeting new people, having a place to sleep, being downtown and you can't beat the rate. I did get him the private bedroom because he snores. Eeek, don't tell him I shared that on the internet! He checked in rather late at 9pm and was welcomed in by Hailey. She shared the rules, gave him a quick tour of the hostel and he left his backpack in his room and went out to find some dinner. He shared that it was such a relaxed environment: people working on their laptops, chatting by the fire pit, cooking up a meal, and sharing a beer. When he came back most people had gone to bed. He used the restroom which he said were spotless, went to bed and slept all night. He commented that the hostel was super clean, trendy, and really had a great atmosphere. Everything is so close by and while the crowd was younger than him, he said it's definitely a place he'd come back to and said he thinks I'd love it too!

The room is really nice, looks like they have done some remodeling not long ago. The beds are very comfortable, the bathroom is very nice with a large countertop. It's about 5 blocks to the Amtrak station, which works for some people. The prices for our room and dates were really good. About $150 plus taxes. They have good internet here. As soon as I walked in, she had the rudest look on her face and just did not want to deal with me clearly. i came in just to see if my late check out was still okay & she DISRESPECTFULLY responded to me saying that was not happening. As we were going back & fourth because i was confused why her employee would say yes then she chose to say no, she was constantly yelling at me, talking over me, laughing at me, & rolling her eyes at me. when i asked who was in charge of her so i could file a complaint against her, she laughed & said i can send an email. which i will be, & i have also filed a complaint with the BBB. As a "manager" she not only handled the situation incorrectly, but she also disrespected me. the RIGHT thing to do was to just apologize to me and say they don't do that & apologize for the misinformation. Instead, not a single sorry on her behalf nor did she want to make up for the confusion. As a manager working in customer service, and hospitality, you would think she would have a warm welcoming personality and be able to handle situations like this. instead she decided to treat me badly, disrespect me, and laugh at me. i could care less about the late check out. i figured i would ask if it was possible. i am upset with how she not only treated me & my family, but how she responded to a situation as simple as this. it did not have to get to the point it did nor did she have to disrespect me when i came in nicely and treated her with respect. because i treat people the way i want to be treated. clearly she does not do that.

She was prompt, nice, sweet, kind and quick. She checked us in and gave us 2 room cards and told us where our room is located. It has 2 adjacent buildings, 21 rooms, and each room had its own parking space. Our room was #210. We walked in and liked everything about it. Amenities included: 2 queen size beds, nice size TV, small closet space, mini fridge, microwave, lots of drawers, shower, iron, hair dryer, the desk, coffee maker along with sugar, creamer etc... Room was very clean, beds were very comfortable, and so were the pillows. Sheets were crisp, clean along with the towels in the bathroom. It had a cute window and a chair right next to it. From outside. Overall was a quiet Inn. The reason for giving 4 stars is because of different things. 1, the bathroom door was making a squeaky sound when opening it, 2. There was no complimentary breakfast, didn't accept my AAA card, and 3. For 2 nights it was $292.25 including tax. For that price, we could have booked a room in a more upscale hotel. However, it was convenient and close to major restaurants, and shops. Also close to the freeway. I will stay there again if I happen to be in Santa Barbara.
