They did nothing to notify or evacuate residents of a fire in 2017 which killed many people. 3. Mendocino County Departments target people who's lives have been ruined by the fires because we are weak. They attempt to ruin our lives enough that they can confiscate and auction off our land.* 4. Mendocino County has not assisted the families of those who died in the fires. 5. Mendocino County has not reduced the extreme risk of reburn in the burnt zones OR the areas not yet affected by wild fire. 6. They allowed the conditions to exist which caused these fires in the first place. *: They apply full taxation rates to burnt properties and businesses. They don't reassess burnt land as lower value because they illegally say burnt land doesn't change in value. They offer no assistance for recovery. They sent violation notices to burnt properties after the fire requiring us to pay for extensive clean up or be fined. They seek every violation possible on burnt lands, they even illegally invent new violations which don't exist. They illegally request property owners to destroy their own property. They call in every other agency they can in California to further oppress burnt property owners as fully as possible. Why? Probably so they can auction off land. There are still pleanty of green areas and many camping areas not affected by the fire. I go there at least 2 times a month all summer long and have never found a better place to go. I have included some directions below to help you fine the place. It is a vast place. You make the choice when you come to the fork in the road as to which way to go. Left takes you to the dam and the RV camping area. Right takes you all the way across the ridge and to the other side of the lake where there are many camping areas and also a boat ramp. Which is usefull if there is water there. I have included the Ukiah Field Office phone number so you can call to ask if the lake has any water in it. This lake is for fishing only, speedboats will not work here. Enjoy. Take plenty of drinking water along. Located about 27 miles west of Williams or 14 miles east of Clearlake Oaks on Highway 20. Turn north on Walker Ridge Road, a graded gravel road, into the recreation area. Take plenty of drinking water along.

By WE, I mean the royally spoiled chunk of humanity with the spare time to write and read Yelp reviews...no matter how useful they are :-) I accept all that. And yet, occasionally, I stumble upon charitable acts of individual kindness and decency, which give me pause; leaving me to think: There is hope for us all. Why did I choose to add the Ukiah California Highway Patrol to Yelp, and write a glowing review, you ask? First, let me tell you what the reason was not: It was not a heroic "pulled a baby from a burning car stuck on the train tracks, JUST as the California Zephyr came whooshing by, consuming the burning wreckage with but milliseconds to spare".. Nor did the officers, having earned my assiduity, "leap upon a bomb vest wielding, bank robbing, extremist brony, thereby saving my child from bodily harm... or from life-long visits to a shrink, to evacuate the crazed bronyist from his or her psyche"... Nope... nothing so extreme. Rather, this is about my Mom; lets not disclose her age lest I be expunged from my inheritance (or lose first dibs on the toasted marshmallow yams at Christmas time, whichever comes first). So, here is: Mom is driving down a little two-lane highway, up in the Nor Cal hinterlands of Lake County, when she had a tire blow out... A few cars back, as the fates would have it, was the first of our nameless Chippers (CHP Lawmen). He saw Mom's van blow the right front, and proceeded to hit the lights, thus clearing the log jam of traffic stacking up on Mom's rear bumper (damned California drivers!)... This helped her get safely to the side of the road. Now, I don't know if you've ever been sitting on the blacktop in Lake County, on a mid-July afternoon, but let me tell you: IT IS HOT. Mom's spare was jacked, and so she needed a tow. The tow truck was 90 minutes away (two and a half hours as it turned out), and the bacon crisping heat was just a shade under Hades Mean Summer Average. What transpired was nothing short or amazingly normal human decency: The Lawman parked his car there, on the side of Highway 29, and waited..with Mom, for 45 minutes, in air conditioned patrol car heaven. He simply refused to leave her on the side of the road, with her old yet functional van. Then his compadre showed up and the baton was passed, freeing the first Lawman to head for the barn. This next Lawman waited with Mom for an hour and 45 minutes more! Finally the tow driver made his appearance and soon, Mom was rollin' down the highway! Those Lawmen were not obligated to say with her, and had there been an emergency, they would have left her alone... but no emergency came, and instead the kept an [don't say old] woman company, in the heat of the day, so she could be a little more comfortable, a little more safe. Given Mom was in the middle of pumping out a kidney stone the size of a small moon, she was indeed in a *lot* of discomfort... Those fellas really made her week. I say to those Lawmen: Thank you. Thank you for being gentlemen, dignified and thoughtful, to a complete stranger. You have renewed my faith in those who have sworn to uphold the law and to police the lands. While it seems the term is cliched to death, i have to say that I am hearted to know there are still men who carry the mantle "To Serve and To Protect".

I've decided to write this review after finding out the CHP has the ability (on a personal whim it…read morewould seem) to deem a normally correctible citation such as in my instance an expired registration tag as NOT correctible. Now I'm utterly shocked to find that because of an unknown reason and seemingly only by this officer's whim I am not able to "fix" and must incur a fine of $376. When I say whim - it is because I can think of no objective or legitimate reason for this penalty; I was able to provide valid CDL and Valid registration but had missed my registration in my relocation. I recently relocated to Mendocino county, in years past I was once pulled over for precisely the same thing in which I thanked the officer for making me aware and happily and immediately fixed it, paid my "fix-it" fee and was done with it. I relocated here in hopes of getting back on my feet financially as being a recently single mother has been devastating - I'm disappointed to find that the CHP here do not take their statement of; "The mission of the California Highway Patrol is to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security" to heart at all, but instead seek to penalize. I work very hard to support my daughter and myself and normally support and respect our officers and the work they do but not in this case since this just seems petty and akin to roadside robbery.

Went there to pay for re registration, I moved a while ago and tend to have issues online, when I…read morechanged my address and confirmed it had been changed online they still sent my mail to the wrong house. Ended up not being able to re register bc I "didn't have insurance" even though I was switching insurance. Anyway I went in person to pay for my late fee and re registration, pulled a number and waited. Once I get called up this old lady with a short hair cut and grey hair gives me sass that she needs to see proof of insurance for me to even be able to pay for my late fee and re registration. The guy that helped me before I got a number to wait didn't tell me that she was going to need that, he said to pay online for the reinstatement fee which I did. She didn't care, she needed my physical paper to prove I have insurance. I told her I didn't have it bc I didn't drive there, it's in my car. She didn't care and was rude. Overall either staff is unhelpful or rude, lack giving you all the info needed to get stuff done and you're an inconvenience to them being there. Hate that I have no choice but to go there bc I have only ever seen ONE employee be helpful and actually polite.
