I asked about opportunities the following day and she dismissed the question as one of insensitivity by responding " my volunteers are all over the age of 50 and not knocking down my door to volunteer after an event!" As one of the few attractions in Ukiah, it would benefit the organization to have more welcoming and informative personnel- when I came home later that day and looked up their website, I realized the "event" was their annual gala - which is all she had to tell me and I would have completely understood the "all hands on deck" commitment something like this requires. Bad form and bad protocol...this woman is not suited for a position of hospitality.

This was the third school house in ALL of California, and is now a museum housing artifacts from the gold production lands nearby (further down Morgan Valley Road - closed in 1993) as well as period pieces that you probably won't see anywhere else. From the website: The Schoolhouse Museum, built in 1877 and restored and opened as a museum in 1993, hosts an interesting collection of local pioneer artifacts. The museum also a collection of Native American artifacts and a rock and mineral display. A restored schoolroom and Victorian Parlor add to the charm and authenticity. Cultural events and art shows take place in the Weaver Auditorium on the second floor. This truly is a CHARMING & EXPERIENTIAL place to enjoy. Every time I go in I ask to ring the school bell in the tower - and I feel like 7 years old again :)

Peanuts are her favorite, it's about 50 to an hour drive with traffic. Very easy to get to once we were there. It's in a beautiful little neighborhood. Plenty of parking. The museum itself has a lot of interesting things to read about and the history of Charles and how he started some interesting things I had never knew. The gift shop is very small not much to purchase. But we did discover if you cross the way there's an ice rink and they sell snacks there and then next to that there's a store that has tons of peanut merchandise.

The entire Schulz campus, including the gift shop and the ice rink is an experience. You will want to give yourself a few hours to fully experience this place. Up stairs, there is an area where you can sit and color and also trace your favorite peanut characters. They provide all the supplies to make your own paper Snoopy Dog House. It is very cute. The museum as several great picture opportunities throughout the museum. Even the bathrooms are themed with Peanuts characters on the tiles. In addition to enjoying the museum, I also highly recommend doing the "Peanuts on Parade". There are Peanut status all throughout the Santa Rosa area. Over 100 of them!!! We challenged ourself to find and take a picture with all of them. We got about 120 before we ran out of time. It's free, other than your time and gas to drive around, but it was an extended part of the Peanuts experience that we absolutely enjoyed.

They also have a research center and local children contribute to the museum. Dog friendly, and I appreciated that they offer water right when you walk in.
