There was plenty of room for everyone. The main indoor space holds several tables and is equipped with a kitchen and restrooms. We also used a smaller barn for serving guests and used the huge lawn for vendor and beverage tents. There was also plenty of room on the grounds for a variety of food trucks and display cars for a car show. A full band was set up in an area large enough for a nice bandstand. I spoke with a woman who volunteers regularly at the venue. She had nothing but nice things to say about the management. Every inch of the grounds was clean and well-maintained. I'd definitely recommend it for events and special occasions.

From its early beginnings when some were scratching their heads at the thought of this round object sitting in the median and then finally it's construction, it has become a conversation piece as it's sits along the busy thoroughfare. It's definitely growing on the residents who drive past it everyday. At night it is illuminated in colorful hues of purple/pink or blue and during the holidays, in green and red. It's even referenced in some Pure Michigan spoofs, as being called "The Golden Butthole". Although some have said it's an eyesore and would only consider it worthy of one star, others say it's kind of quirky, which would bump it up to two. The title of 'unofficial' landmark could possibly qualify it for three. Having our own conversation piece in the middle of one of the busiest thoroughfares, bumps it up to four. Last but not least, some would say it's originality and uniqueness is worthy of five stars. So, as expected opinions differ widely. While some remain neutral on how they feel, others either love it or hate it. In fact, it's sometimes the 'butt' of jokes and others 'pooh pooh' the design. However you look at it, it's here to stay and it's ours to embrace. I choose to look on the positive side, especially in today's uncertain world. Open only a year this grand library is a real boost and gem to the Shelby Township, MI area. The…read morelibrary is but a few blocks from its' old location where they had outgrown the older, smaller building. The library is situated in a beautiful park setting. They have everything you can think of from a bookstore, outside seating, copy area, computer room, fireplace with cozy seating to children's area. The personnel are knowledgeable and friendly. We purchased books from the Friends of the Library bookstore as well as browsed books that were lining the many rows of shelves of books. I especially enjoy reading the magazines and newspapers. If you are in the area, stop in, relax and read for a bit.
