They do have a mail drop off at this location.... it is inside the building.... The officers will direct you at the front-door.... Total organized and fast! I got there around 9am AND had an appointment which it seems most people didn't. I needed a certified copy and the clerk said my spot was still open to me even when I had to go back and get my copies from the court and once she didn't have someone that I could go right back up. Good business as a whole is not terrible however I applied for Social Security October 2024 is now December 30 of 2025 and I still do not have an answer. I had to get an attorney and I can't even walk. I'm using a walker, but I can't walk. I have to hold onto it or countertops. I have in-home sports services helping me with someone that comes and helps me in my home. Take care of my needs. The doctor did eight surgeries in the past two months. I've been hospitalized for over two months. It's just been a mess in for them still not to approve me? I don't know what else somebody needs to do. I can't lift my head up. Today on Friday the line was barely a few people at around noon. With a matter involving elderly Mom with medical conditions... I came 1st to handle the 'Waiting' so my loved ones didn't have to. Be smart/wise: Bring any potentially useful documents and especially all identifying details... IF IN DOUBT = BRING IT! (Make use of waiting) A prior review mentioned how they mailed their passport. seriously? If you might be told "Mail your passport" then bring it IN TO AN OFFICE versus mailing! Anteby of San Bernardino Social Security office at building # 605 told me that if ANY documentation is delivered either in Person or otherwise mailed it MUST have a Social Security Number CLEARLY referenced or otherwise they wait 59-60 days before the documentation is destroyed! If you can't handle matters yourself get a very trusted relationship in your life to be a "Representative Payee" so that person can speak in your behalf... in case showing up for yourself might be to much or too complicated for YOU. Consider details of this review and read others experiences. Just because a agent/employee of this office directs you to do something that MAY seem incongruous or incomplete, SPEAK UP! They lost my baby's original birth certificate, my passport & my baby's footprint card which was very special to me. I sent in the application for my baby's SSN with all of the above original documents after not being able to get an in-person appointment or get ahold of anyone on the phone. I was supposed to receive my documents back along with the baby's SSN within 14 business days. It has been 2 months, and I have not been updated or sent any mail. We haven't been able to file our taxes and had to file an extension because we don't have the baby's SSN. I am unable to make an in-person appointment for this task because they won't allow me to online and I can't get ahold of anyone via phone. I've stayed on hold 3x for over 2 hours just to be hung up on saying they were too busy and to call back later. I'm so frustrated and extremely heartbroken about losing my baby's home-birth certificate with his newborn footprints on it. Okay, so these people are still not alloqing walk-in services. Also, if you didn't know this, you get a sticky note with phone number from the security guy. After 38 minutes on hold, the person said they would send the application. To complete it and send it back in with a copy of CDL. Did this, as instructed. Two weeks later, received a letter from SSN stating only originals are accepted. Who wants to send their license in the mail! I called them back, was told only original documentation with Complete DOB accepted. I voiced concerns about sending this in the mail. She told me I can put it in their drop box. Omg this is the most ridiculous place I have been to in my life. There is literally no organization there's people all over the place. They have you stand in the longest of lines just to get a number, then when you have your number there is no indication of how long you have to wait. There is no way you can get an appointment for even the most basic of stuff. I feel bad for people who have to come regularly. This is my first time and last time at a social security office and it was literally the worst experience ever. They really need to find a way to get more organized and lessen the wait times. Not to mention how many people they let inside the building there's a big possibility you catch covid or something sketch having to be so close to so many people for hours. Crazy lines I mean super packed with a line from inside out! Then once you finally get in you have to wait in another line. You wait until you reach the front windows they give you a number. Then they make you wait again until your number is called. The 1st line to enter building was a short wait. Now the 2nd line waiting to get your number is a whole different story. I had to wait for over 1 hr 45 mins. Now after getting number it was like a 10 min wait and no more than 10 minutes to get my new S.S card. All the employees were friendly and helpful. But I wish they had a better system in place to get that line moving faster. read more

I had to send my passport as proof of citizenship to this office. I've been very nervous about having my passport out of my hand but had no choice. It was signed for two weeks ago and have been trying to get hold of someone in the office to make sure they're sending it back soon. Over and over and over and over...and many more overs I've called, followed the prompts, left on hold, then hung up on. The office will be closing soon so don't think I'll get the info I need today, although I've been trying for 1 1/2 hours. I contacted SSA via the internet to assist my nephew in completing an application for Disability benefits on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. He had a stroke on January 9, 2022 and is not conscious to do so. I received a call 01/21/22 at 3:19 pm from telephone number listed as 909 574-3890. This rude woman states she worked for SSA and wanted to speak with my nephew, Damon, which she had pronounced incorrectly and I corrected her. I attempted to explained to her he was hospitalized and unable to speak due to being not conscious. The caller was Mrs. Wells at 866 726-7865 x 10583. She is employed at the Fontana SSA office. As I attempted to explain to her the situation, she would cut my speaking off, she was rude and very aggressive to me. She told me I need to get him to sign a statement. I explained to her again her he was not conscious and covid restrictions at hospital and no visitors even if allowed, he was not conscious. I expressed to her that she was not providing customer service nor did she have any compassion for a family member to assist. I am a former SSA employee of 43 years and have held numerous positions with the agency and I know the protocol. She began raising her voice at me and this was not acceptable for me. I then expressed to her that I wanted no dealing with her. I hung up the telephone. I did research and found out whom her supervisor was. After being told there were 4 managers in this office of which is not true, i did get a name and telephone number of her supervisor, Maria Pimental at 866. 726-7865 x 10512 and I called and left her voicemail message to return my call same day at 3:30. I will give the superior until Monday January 24, 2022 by COB to return the call. If no response, I will seek a higher authority in the agency to handle this unprofessional employee. If she is frustrated with her job, she should seek another place of employment. I then thought she must have been working from home and I would hope she is not conducting that attitude and manner of business in an office with the public and other employees present. I am sickened to my stomach that she may be treating the elderly in this manner. In my years in the agency I have been nothing other that compassionate and a caring employee. Anyone experiencing any type of treatment from this person or the agency should document either via Yelp or other form as these people don't need this type of employment in this profession. No one knows what to say..either u charge what fair share is..or fair market value..or the cut benefits..but if charge them that ..they cut benefits anyway cuz they say they cant pay..so u chargebkess so they CAN pay and they cut benefits cuz u charged less.. I accompanied my elderly, disabled mother to the Social Security office in San Bernardino. The number and line system in place is an absolute nightmare(be prepared to wait at least 3hrs) It was inclement weather, rainy and cold! They have you wait outside and only allow ONE person in at a time. You stand in two different lines before your given a number. Then wait and wait and wait... My biggest complaint is the hired help, security guards, they act as if they are FBI agents and need to practically do a strip search prior to your entry. The salty, unprofessional, foul mouthed, invasive security guard yells "NEXT!!!" and asks you to place your personal property in the bucket, ok fine, no problem. But then ask you to remove, jacket and/or sweater, watch and glasses??!!! I CAN ASSURE YOU that my elderly mother who is pushing a walker is not "hiding" any explosives or firearms UNDER HER GLASSES!!! If she was... I'm sure the metal detector and wand would detect that! (insert eye roll here) He was cursing and was disrespectful. It's appalling to witness the arrogant "corporal" behave in such a manner. Overall, bad experience! I only give them two stars because of my personal situation. I needed to drop off one form. It was from state disability. That's all I needed. Well they don't have a drop off one form window so I had to take a number and wait to be called. It took just over three hours. If they would put in some sort of mail slot or something it would sure be nice. I didn't have to talk to anybody or anything.. This place reminds me of the DMV, but in some ways maybe it's worse. First, I waited in a line in the blazing sun outside before I could even get in the door. Then, I went through security to get in a line to get a ticket at the kiosk. Next, I got to sit amongst a mass of people in a warm room waiting for my number to be called. After over an hour, my number gets called and I'm thinking woo hoo yeahhh it's my turn. Well, NO! At the window, I was told he is just checking me in and he wasn't very helpful. I asked is there a better day to come? He said NO. So, I asked is there a better time to come? He said NO. I think that was just his response to everything. I left, so I can't give you an idea of how long it will take to be seen. Apparently you can make an appt. The man sitting next to me said he tried to make an appt, but the 1st one was about 6 weeks away. If you go, have more than 2 hours to spare and bring something to do. And be prepared to stand in the sun - sunscreen, sunglasses or whatever you need. Also, if you have an SUV, parking stalls are very small. read more

This place is ridiculous. They don't call your numbers in order with whoever gets in line first. So someone could have arrived 2 hours after you and you'll still be waiting. That system sucks.. how is that far to someone who gets there first and the person who arrived super late get called over and be done with. By 2 hours in I asked the rent a cops if they called my number because the letter category and then the numbers went passed mine. Totally brushed me off like I was being crazy or some shit like that, he said, "no it doesn't call the numbers in order" So I said, "I realize that but the E group the numbers passed mine". whatever I took his word for it. Another hour passes by and I'm thinking this isn't right? What irritates me is that for the Spanish speaking people receptionist call their numbers over and over and wait about five to ten mins for them to get up to the window. Lying security guard, You stand out side in the heat for over hour. Then the Guard inform us its a busy today so once you get inside you have other 2 hour wait!! I found out this wait time is typical and the guard use this informtion to get people to leave. I was one of them!!! Four guard got into fight with a older person and push her out of the building. I brought my mother here at around 11:10 am yesterday. We had to wait in a line outside. The security calls people one by one and makes people take off their sweaters, put their bags/wallets, keys and any other metal items on the table. The person then has to pass by a metal detector. I am glad they do this because of the area it is located in (unlike Fontana, who doesn't do this). We were inside by like 11:40 am. We then were given a number and waited until like 12:20 pm. to be called. The employee then called our number and helped my mother change her last name. Be advised that if you are changing your last name (because you got married) you will need to take a valid ID and/or valid passport and your original marriage certificate. We were out of the office by like 12:40 pm. The only reason I give it a 4 is because of a security guard who was acting like a d*** and was not one bit nice. We said thank you to him for opening the door for us and he said nothing and closed the door. Other than that, there were two other securities who were nice. read more

I'm sure a lot of people had different experiences at this place since this isn't exactly a fun place to be under any circumstances, but my rating is based on my experience today. Considering I had to be here, I can't get mad and let that effect the rating. I was notified by mail to meet with a representative between the hours of 10a--2p. I barely made it in time, so I was worried someone was going to give me attitude for coming at the last possible time slot. The room was absolutely packed with people. First I was greeted by security and he was very helpful checking my paperwork to make sure I was in the right place. My Mother was with me and brought food in with her in her bag and he was nice enough to not make her go back out into the heat and put it in the car, effectively making the food perish and making her walk all the way back. He just asked her not to eat it while she was in the building, which I thought was pretty nice of him. Next thing I printed a ticket from the computer and found basically the only place left to sit. Since my case was either a different type from everyone else's or they were expecting me (I don't know which), I only waited about 10 minutes or less. I had all of the paperwork already filled out, so the woman at the window just took it and basically thanked me and sent me on way. She actually answered one quick question I had too. No long drawn out process, no attitudes, and I like how they identified that mine was quick and simple so they jumped me to the front of the line to just drop it and go. I would have been really upset if I waited 2 or 3 hours for my turn just for a 30 second interaction. I was surprisingly pleased! 4 Stars! read more
