Terrible experience. The kiosk was down so there was no way to accurately check in. Waited for over an hour. When i got to the counter the lady was extremely rude making a comment as to why i went to that location when all it took her was 5 minutes to do what i needed. There were only 2 workers working. Extremely dissatisfied read more

There is corruption going on at the Pontiac, Michigan office. They claim there are no records. Everything is 0.00 (wiped out). I know better. First, they claim I had no appointment, but I just got a text from them yesterday for appointment today. Then they said they couldn't handle my complaint. They complain about how they are still behind because of Covid. UNBELIEVABLE, INCOMPETENT. There are scams going from Covid after 6 years. Records removed, dollar amounts being changed etc. read more

Scheduled a phone appointment 2 weeks ago through the main 800 social security phone number. The appointment was confirmed with a letter in the mail. Today the phone appointment was supposed to be with the Pontiac office at 2pm. Ms. W. called at 2:10 and said she was running behind and would call back in 15 minutes. She never called back. When I tried to call the Pontiac office, the phone rang in to the St. Clair Shores office and they said they couldn't help me. When I called again at 4:45pm, the recording said they are closed. So frustrating! read more

We have no choice they are Government!! They give the worse Customer Service and they know we are at their mercy. I have had hang ups w/no call backs after 2 hours on hold. I have walked out of their crying most times when they tell me different info depending on Rep. last time I was there the CSR showed me their is no room in their system to make notes so they no there is no accountability. I have now gotten my Congresswoman involved since there is no Manager that you can talk to. read more

Sadly, the staff has been set-up for failure, the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration is incompetent and year after year nothing changes. I can understand the employees' frustration but it is not the publics fault so treating them rudely and not doing your job is unacceptable. The Social Security Administration and its employees have been a loud to do nothing and care little for too long. Any other "company" that felt 250 days to handle paperwork or phone wait times over 2 1/2 hours are acceptable would be out of business. The government needs to get a back bone and if an employee does not do their job, they need to be replaced. It is sad that it is well known if you work for the government you do not have to work hard and are not accountable for anything. read more

Would be NICE if they alert people that you NEED AN APPOINTMEN NOW!! At least have an online appointment app to set one up so we don't have to wait on the phone for an hour to be hung up on! Shit show! There were 3 cars in the parking lot and people just kept going in and out because they didn't have an appointment. I actually went inside the building with only 3 cars in the parking lot and there wasn't ONE person in the buidling not ONE! Do better SS for God sake! read more

I would submit a rating of 0 stars if I could. The woman I spoke with TWICE at the Pontiac office was simply rude, condescending and unprofessional. I called this morning--and waited on hold for at least 20 minutes--to get information for my 80-year-old mother. The fact that I was calling about someone else's benefits seemed to deeply irritate her. She rudely barked at me that the SSA doesn't recognize powers of attorney, which I understand. So I got my mother on the line for verification and to ask for what we needed. When she typed in the wrong SSN and called someone else's name, I corrected her. That aggravated her even more. The SS representative literally sighed out loud and told me to hurry up because she only had seven minutes to talk with us. WHAT?! Then "somehow" our call got disconnected without our issue being resolved. So I had to call back and sit on hold for another 20 minutes (the wait times are surprisingly the least of my complaints about this experience). Unfortunately, I got the SAME rude woman (her voice is very distinctive), had to repeat the above process and got the same out-of-the box rude interaction. I had to keep repeating myself, which irritated both of us. I said, "Ma'am, I just gave you that information." Her response was, "Stop with the 'ma'am!' I've got 19 other people over here." WHAT?! I asked her if there was another way I could get the information in the future and there was silence. The woman hung up on us AGAIN! I can't even be sure our request was processed and I don't have the patience to go through that a third time in one morning. I'm just wondering right now how someone like that has a "public service" job. read more

As I approached Social Security age one thing I dreaded was having to deal with the Social Security Administration. I imagined long lines, crowded centers, or lengthy holding times on the phone. This is the closest location for me so I decided to try it. What I found was not what I expected; clean waiting area, not overly crowded, pull a number and sit, wait for number to show, then go to the noted window, have a seat and discuss your issues with a specialist. Signing up for benefits was an easy process and everyone I've dealt with seemed very knowledgeable and experienced even suggesting things I never thought of. At least this location gives me a positive impression of a large government bureaucracy. read more

Horrible customer service. I spoke with someone on the phone today to try and figure out how to change my last name after getting recently married. I was yelled at when asking clarifying questions about how the mail in services work and then hung up on. It was horrifying behavior. I do know that phone call says that in order to receive accurate and courteous service, the phone call would be recorded. I hope the recording is listened to and there is a system used to make sure that the service I received this morning doesn't happen again. read more

I had to go here today after misplacing my SS card and was dreading it the whole drive there. I walked in an hour and ten minutes before they were to close and seen what felt like a million people ahead of me. I put my information into the kiosk and why I was there, I received a number and went and sat down waiting to be called. They seemed to be calling people at a pretty steady rate which was reassuring that I would be called before they closed. After about 50 min (I thought it would be much longer) I was called to a window. They lady that waited on me was very friendly and had me in and out within a few min! It honestly went a lot smoother than I expected! read more
