I found it to be a very supportive group. Not only did joining the chamber help drum up a lot of business, but their events were fun and informative, and I met a ton of interesting people. I always enjoyed the chamber meetings...they offered an opportunity to meet all sorts of interesting and important people in the community, from business owners to local politicians. The staff who run the chamber are a cheerful bunch and are hard workers and are eager to help new businesses succeed. I am very grateful for their support and guidance. The group was also a positive group: Lakewood is culturally and politically very diverse and over the course of my membership I saw a number of controversial and potentially divisive issues arise, including a school tax levy and an issue of eminent domain use that drew national attention. The chamber did exactly what I think any organization should do: they took thoughtful stances on these issues, but were careful to avoid giving the public the impression that their official stance reflected the views of all its members. I would recommend anyone running a business in or around Lakewood to consider joining the chamber of commerce. Compared to other business networking groups that are often dominated by people interested primarily in self-promotion, I found the Lakewood Chamber to be a place full of sincere, honest business owners and community members. Joining the chamber and going to their events can be one of the best ways to get tied into the lakewood community.

When I discovered this library years ago... I was impressed with the large volume of books/…read moremagazines and even the media room is huge ( such a variety of music , movies etc). It was quite busy with patrons. Often visited children area was great also.. the number of kids have decreased so empty now I had stopped going for a bit yesterday, the climate here has changed... not very friendly staff... in fact I can come in after a long night of work to stay awake studying for exam. I'm I aesthetically pleasing... probably not. However, I did not come for that. I notice many people of walks of life at their lowest, few teens from school and many seniors. When I do sit at table to study with my own laptop. I notice the first librarian coming around pending to look for magazine or book then another it actually became comical.not sure why?!?!. This library has been so unfriendly and judgmental that they have driven a lot patrons away. Sad. However, with recent news and activities. I can see this may heightened responses and antagonizing situations. One may get the snub from patron along with the weird sitting at table turning chair to claim her facing the clock Sir so many places to sit.. go there. I don't care.... Then to get up and come back to stand so close, ( I was waiting for the touch) just to agitate I presume... didn't give him the satisfaction. Then to come back claim " where is my..." ok this recent events really got people trueness and craziness and violent tendencies to come out.
