I got my letter in the mail, stating my appointment time, via phone, would be on Nov. 20th @ 11:02AM. They stated in the letter that if there was a delay in my appointment time, they would keep it to a minimum. I waited and waited, no call! I called them and got their recording, telling me that the wait time was 110 minutes, so could leave my phone number and name, which I did. 2 hours later, still no call back. I called again, and it said they saw I was already on the list for a call back, and that wait time was now 120 minutes. Then it hung up on me. By 5:00 pm, still NO CALL BACK!!!! I don't understand why this office is making everyone wait outside in the heat. I understand Covid and you can only have limited people inside but that's not working. An older gentleman pasted out because of the heat, he is a diabetic. Elderly individuals waiting in there car for 2 hours because they can't stand that long. They do not offer accommodations for elderly or disabled. You can not call for a appointment because you can not ever get someone. I wanted an hour for a phone representative, just for them to tell me that they only do phone appointments and I would have to walk in to go to the office. Went to the appointment with all my documents, and even made a spreadsheet to explain where they screwed up. The person I saw did not even look at my documents. Not as long as advertised, if we have to go again, we will get there at 8:30 a.m. The door to the left (east) is for anything to do with a SS Card or Updating Citizenship, the door to the right (west-Main Entrance) is for more complex issues concerning claims. I don't know if the regulation of this office is federal or local, but currently they are not allowing in person appointments at all unless it's an emergency situation. This is of course unacceptable, as life is still continuing on and people need social security services. I was told to mail in my actual Driver's License and Passport to the local office, which is of course ridiculous as I then cannot drive or do anything until (if) I get it back in the mail. I asked if I could drop it off, and was told they have no way to do that, as presumably everyone is at home. Plenty of places are doing things such as checking temperatures, making masks mandatory, etc. to combat the COVID situation--shutting down the office nearly entirely is not an acceptable response, obviously. read more

I went at about 930am and there was already a line outside one of the doors (the one towards the center). I waited out there about 15-20min just to be told by the officer that I was at the wrong door to get a new SS Card, so I moved over to the door to the left and walked right in a took a number. THEN I WAITED 2.5 HOURS TO TALK TO SOMEONE FOR 5MIN. There's a place to eat outside if you get hungry, but eat somewhere before or bring food if you're not one for hot dog stands (but this guy's $4 deal is pretty awesome - beef sausage dog with any toppings + chips and a drink!!!). Anyways, when you get to the window, they are pretty quick. There were only 2 windows open, then 3...then someone would go on break, then there would be 2. Just have to be patient and bring something to keep you busy, like a book or a fully charged phone to play games on or watch Netflix. PARKING: IS A PAIN. You CAN park on the curbs inside the parking lot, so don't waste your time going around in circles trying to find a space. If you want to be in and out, go there about 30-45min before it opens and start waiting, from what I hear it'll only take about about 5-10 min after that to get everything done (depending on what you need done). read more

Eventually the automated system just says theres a long wait try back later and hangs up. I tried the national #, but you have to get in contact with the local office to make an appointment which I can't do because noone will answer. I understand it's Covid and it's only phone service but seriously what is going on? I tried the National number they were very polite and helpful but unfortunately they can't do what I need done. While I don't think anyone would say, "4 stars, YAY, I'm a fan!" for a social security office, I was actually pleasantly surprised by my experience here. It didn't start off too well though. I arrived a little after 9 am, and the place was PACKED. And when I say packed, there wasn't even an open seat. I had to sit on the floor. And, I had to pick up Adam in an hour and was just praying that as I signed into the electronic ticket giving thingy, (with E2 as my number and E75 up on the screen) that I wouldn't be in here for hours. I just needed an new social security card (washed mine) for my upcoming nuptials, and was so afraid that I has waited too long to make it in. (Been just a tad busy.) I did wait about 30-35 minutes, but when I got up to the counter, the guy helping me was very nice. I had the paperwork already printed and filled out and in hand, and my birth certificate as well. He let me know I didn't need that, and when I asked about expediting the process (I was thinking it would take about 4-6 weeks to get the new card) he let me know it should only take about 2 weeks. Yay! I was at the counter for all of 4-5 minutes, when receipt in hand and out the door. I did bring my laptop to do some work as I waited, so that definitely helped pass the time quickly. But overall, I thought it was gonna be a pure cluster, but walked out pleasantly surprised. read more

I absolutely abhor this place to no end. I have been here a lot and the service just gets worse. If you're not there really early to avoid the line, expect to wait until almost closing. The last time I went I got there by 10AM. I was there waiting to be seen until almost 2PM! Luckily, some friends were there so I went with one of them to grab some food for us at the McDonald's up the road. If it wasn't for that I would have been starving by days end. Mind you they don't let you bring in any food or drink so you're basically stuck. There is this one lady who I've gotten twice in a row and she has been great! I can't remember her name but she was always quick, resourceful and helped push through my paperwork and give me the answers I was looking for. Unless you really need to come here,make sure you eat first. Take the day off of work because you can possibly be here all day. And most of all, bring headphones or something to keep you entertained. Oh, and the numbers don't always match on the tv and the counter on a different wall, so try to pay attention to who they call on the loudspeaker. read more

Waited for 1 hr back in November to apply for a new social security card. Simple process worth 5 minutes to complete but waiting can be over an hour. Bring a book or play with some apps bec you will be waiting. Can't use your phone though to talk, no food or drinks allowed. Never got my social security card 6 weeks later so I had to return today and request a resend. Social Security's process is soooo mundane and archaic that you can't just go online to request a resend, you literally have to go through the process all over again! What a waste of time!!!! Hours of operation are ridiculous! 9am-3pm and at all hours you will be waiting. I believe Wednesdays are 9am-12pm, that is bizarre! read more

The appointment gave a time between 11:09 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. now I know why-their butts are covered if you complain about the time. This was probably the easiest Social Security Office I've ever been in. The guard at the front reminds everyone to fill out their paperwork and to get a ticket. The employees behind the counter are very helpful and aren't annoyed or anything. Usually when visiting a social security office - the employees are rude or short.. But everyone here was friendly. My only complaint is that the office is pretty small. I wish they would expand to give everyone some breathing room. read more

I cannot believe the wait here. I got here when it opened and thus far it will be an hour wait. The people that work here didn't even open their windows til 930am, when it opened up at 9am. The lobby was overflowed early and security made people stand outside or in their cars. The parking is horrific. You have to park on the street somewhere or make your own parking space. Nice building clean and bright on the inside. My only complaint is the minimal seating. I came with two kids only because I had no other option and there were no seats available. They won't let you take empty seats from the counter even if no one's using them. So I was getting a little frustrated at first. having to hold a baby stand and fill out paperwork was not very easy. It looks like they only have four desks but they actually have more in the back they have other counters that people get called to. Some of the employees were really nice. The officer at the front was very happy and nice and helpful. Be prepared to wait about 45 minutes. You will see all sorts of people in this office. I was in and out for a name change (new card) in 30 mins. No problem finding it, easy to park. Its a government office so no weapons :) Just have what you need already filled out and you should be fine. I'm sure they have busier times and days but i went on Wed before they closed and it was a cinch. Mr. T was super nice and super fast.
