First I had to stand outside for a half hour in line then they…read morefinally let me into the building only to stand there for another 2 1/2 hours and still not take care of me and be told that it's not guaranteed that I'll even be taken care of at all today The manager was a pretty rude woman going up to the people who walked in and telling them that what they need isn't important enough to stand there and wait , that they can go home and come back another day. Some people, like me , like to just get things done and out-of-the-way so they don't have to think about it anymore or worry about it They were only taking people with appointments after I got in at around 11:30 AM. Before that they were still taking all the walk-ins and the people with appointments. Every other one was an appointment or a walk-in. Then I get in there and they stopped taking them, and there was only five of us left. Only five walk-ins standing there and they would not call even one of us so we could at least go sit down and wait. It was just a joke. Absolutely ridiculous. So I finally gave up waiting, knowing that I might not be taken care of it all, left and made an appointment for another day. So now I have to NOT look forward to going back again. JUST WHAT I NEED !! Not only all that, but there weren't very many people working at the windows. They really need to get more employees. Things would go much smoother if they actually had enough employees to fill all the windows and take care of people in a timely fashion. All DMV's suck !! The employees are rude and they all need attitude adjustments.

I took my adult daughter in without an appointment after being turned away at another location. She…read morewas able to be seen after a lengthy wait but she was seen the same day nonetheless. I explained the situation my daughter was facing to the woman at the window after waiting in the "I do not have an appointment" line for 30 minutes. She was sympathetic and gave me a number and I was told to have a seat. We sat for the next hour and a half until her number was called. It seems unreasonable to be upset at having to wait when you don't have an appointment. Life happens. Sometimes people fail to plan properly. Sometimes surprises happen in life and you find yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place. Neither one is a reason to receive special treatment. So if you do receive it be grateful and just grin and bear the wait. The clerks at this location were kind and helpful. This will be the location I go to the next time I need to go to the DMV.

Unfortunately the information packet they mailed me never arrived, but I went in person and picked up the information. Someone also took a few minutes to answer all of my questions and help me figure out what was going to work best for us. Overall, I would caution that they are quite busy but that they are still very interested in helping.

I've had mixed and confusing dealings with the Department of Refuse…read more First let me say that I'm so grateful for the employees who work in the heat and the cold year round to keep our garbage totes emptied every week. But this isn't actually about them , it's about my garbage totes and the Refuse Control Department. I've had a couple of things happen to my totes. The lid broke some how during one of their pickups. It was hanging by one hinge and was very heavy and unwieldy to try to put back on. I called the Department to ask to have the tote replaced. I was informed that it didn't need replacement they could just put a new cover on. Great I was happy with that news and went on with life as normal expecting to hear from them. Or thinking that like the meter readers , they would come and get the lid and exchange it. When it didn't get repaired for another couple of weeks , I contacted them and asked for an update. I was told " well you have to leave it out for us to fix!" Having had no idea how they handled, these things I had taken the tote back into my yard. The lid was replaced and life went on as usual. This time the bar that the machine on the truck uses to pick up the can broke in half. The can had been broken for several..... weeks. At one point the can, in fact after being emptied, was laying on the ground half on the street. Having tried to pick one of those up after a wind storm, I was truly not overjoyed at the prospect of trying to wrestle this thing back up onto its feet again! Time to call the department again to see if they could please replace it. I explained what the problem was and answered all the questions and was told to leave it out and they would be by to pick it up and replace it. Ok well I didn't forget from last time that they expected me to LEAVE IT OUT!!! They didn't say how long it would take so I left it out indefinitely. After several days , and accumulating garbage in my house, I called back and explained the situation, and was told ..... "You're only supposed to leave it out for the day not the week!" Feeling like I simply can't win , I said I had left it out for the "day" and ( frankly too afraid to bring it back in in case I created a problem again)it had never gotten picked up. There was a pause on the other end of the phone and then I heard " I don't see anything about a broken tote to be picked up here." Back to square one. Today I waited to see the fate of my garbage tote. I heard the garbage truck come. I heard the recycle truck come. I finally looked out to check and see and I'm very happy to say that this time the broken tote was gone and a replacement was in its place!! To the gentleman who never left the instructions that my tote was broken I say " why" and ask how is a customer follow instructions if they aren't given any specific instructions. To the second gentleman who followed through at the Town of Amherst Department of Refuse, I say Thank You ! This lady really appreciates not trying to wrestle the tote off the ground when it falls over off the lift!
