I think its great that there is a boutique like Social in West Hampstead, its the only shop in that area that carries good streetwear labels and its always got something interesting to offer. The prices arent always given, but if you really think about it, its worth it, you can go to primark and buy ill fitting jeans for £10, or you can invest in a pair for £70 and keep them for years, the same goes for a dress or a great coat. They have brands like Cheap Monday, Full Circle, Firetrap, Ben Sherman and everything is carefully picked to offer an good range.. The Sales assistants dont come up and bother you but are happy to help you find what you need if you want, they know how to style people and are easy to talk to. This store is up it's own @@##. Pretentious! Everything in this store is so hip, so in, and so expensive. Seriously, this store sells all the hip sportswear, has a vintage rack, charges a fortune for everything and sells that sort of in Jewelry on a chain with a pseudo tattoo punk design pendant thing. I find this store gross because it is like "Here I am. I am hip." This store should lock itself in it's room play Belle and Sebastien Records and not come out until it stops charging so much money trying to be tragically hip. You take it, I don't like this shop. You guessed correctly. One thing that is nice though, I must admit the hat selection on foam heads with vintage sunglasses. It works actually. read more

After a somewhat disastrous day of shopping throughout London I was starting to believe what I before had thought impossible: that there was no independent shopping in all of London, that it had been pushed out by the chain stores found in any mall in the US. In fact, I had completely given up on finding any fun clothes and was just walking down the street in my sister's neighborhood hoping for a bite to eat. Then, I passed a promising window display and walked into Social Industries. My sartorial quest, if not ended completely, had at least found one acceptable destination. Social Industries is a small store, to be sure, but the merchandise seems to be chosen thoughtfully. the selection was young and fun without being immature. Equally important, the prices seemed more than fair. I found a couple of great Ben Sherman pieces, and even considering a less than forgiving exchange rate, they were considerably less expensive than they would have been back in the states. There were also a good number of brands I had never heard of, which is certainly a good thing. Social Industries is (so far at least) the only clothing store i've found in London that remotely interested me. Throw in some fun accessories and home items, and it's definitely a store at which I could blow a large portion of a paycheck. Thank goodness I live some 3000 miles away. read more
