In front of the Estates Theatre, a strange figure sits on a plinth.
The statue at the Estates Theatre was named Il Commendatore by its creator Anna Chromy and created the mysterious statue of the commander in the form of a wrinkled cloak without a figure or face to commemorate the premiere of Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Estates Theatre on October 29, 1787.
Our guide mentioned that many drunken ones make a fool of themselves by putting their heads inside the statue's hooded area....then trying to pull themselves out....with no ease......an experience that has had many police people come to the rescue more than once.
There are similar statues in other parts of the world. But this one in Prague is part of many of the guided tours. read more
