GOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLLL!…read more GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL! Ok, so maybe our team doesn't hear that as often as some of the others but WHO CARES because we're having fun wearing knee socks and cleats. SouthBay Sports allows all of us wanna be athletes and those "has been" athletes live out our World Cup dreams each week, minus the head-butting. I play on two co-ed teams and in addition to getting some much needed cardio, I also get to relieve some much need aggression on those boys who try to get in my way. They spent the summer turfing the field on Aviation & Manhattan Beach blvd so there is no risk of falling in the mud holes of previous seasons. SouthBay Sports also offers softball and co-ed football during certain seasons so keep an eye out on their schedule.

I've played in this league for over 6 years. They used to have quality teams, a decent turf field,…read moreand well priced team fees. It's been years since any maintenance has been done on the field. The quality of teams has lowered significantly (players with low skill and bad attitudes are everywhere). The referees either don't care or slow the game down with excessive calls and power trips. On top of all this the cost to play has been increasing. None of that extra cost seems to go towards improving the player experience. The only redeeming aspect is Mike, the guy who works the front office, he's respectful and does his best to help to keep everything smooth. Work towards improving the player experience and maybe you won't have trouble keeping quality players on the field.

The practice open public skate hours are posted and it's good place to ice skate and they also have private parties for kids birthday celebrations you can book. The instructors are friendly as well as work well with kids and groups of children. I think they also offer private lessons too. There is an in-house pro-shop selling ice skating gear including hockey equipment. Yes! The NHL's Los Angeles Kings appeared on 02/22/26 Sunday midday around 10am-12 noon for practice and the public viewing was free too! That's always a bonus pleasant surprise.

We typically arrive early, grab a snack from the café, and have generally enjoyed our experience. Today, however, we had to stop by the front office for assistance. Unfortunately, the staff member who helped me, whose name I did not catch, but who has very distinctive half-blonde, half-black hair, came across as rude and condescending. My child had forgotten his lanyard, so we asked for a temporary tag, something we've done before without issue. Beyond this interaction, there was a noticeable sense of entitlement in the overall environment. When I visited the ProStride store, I was the only customer present, yet there was no greeting or acknowledgment. When I asked for assistance, it felt reluctant and forced, as though helping was an inconvenience. As someone who works as a Director of Member Services, I was disappointed by these experiences. Front-facing staff set the tone for an organization, and today's interactions did not reflect the welcoming, family-friendly environment one would expect, especially in a space that serves children and families.

Our first swim meet we were told we couldn't sit will some of the parents in there tent because it was a private tent. It was extremely clickish. Lots of bossy parents that really were not interested in helping you understand how things worked. One mom pulled us in an that probably why we stayed so long. My son loved swimming before we started the team and how hated it. When we were deciding to leave no one cared. A new coach talked to my son about staying and so we came back to practice and the head coach freaked out because we hadn't paid dues yet. We were never late on dues. It would have been nice for her to say "hey I'm glad you decided to stay." But no. I do not recommend this team.

(What? I can't be the only one!) I miss the days of high school team sports when working out was as much social time as it was getting in shape. Well, that's the sweet thing about masters clubs like this one. You work out in a big group, you have a coach who gives you sets to do, and you get to chat with whoever's in your lane. The only bad side is that these people are hard core swimmers. I thought I was good. These guys are rockets in the water. Also, the whole session can be a bit instense for beginners. For instance, today we warmed up with 500 yards, then went straight into 2,000 yards free style. But there is a fun side to the group. They have get togethers and there is a definite little community here. Just be ready to swim your ass off.

This professional beach volleyball tournament was established in 1960. It is commonly referred to…read moreas the "Granddaddy of them all". The champions' names are cemented into the fabled Walk of Fame. There is a 32 team Main Draw and a prize purse of $300,000. General Admission is free but you can purchase Club AVP and Premium Club AVP which includes breakfast, lunch, and one drink as well as a shaded area. They seem to oversell these areas - at the peak hours of 12-3pm there is standing room only. There is an unshaded bleacher area in the Club areas as well. Free admission is for the outer courts and one section of the grandstand near the main Stadium court. However, during the event, there is a very long line to re-enter the grandstand so essentially you have to stay there once you snag a seat. There are also $$$$ cabanas, courtside boxes and the deck. There are sponsor booths giving away samples of sunscreen, water, and electrolyte drinks. There are also a couple of booths selling AVP clothing items and swim wear. Beware, it can get hot so wear sunscreen and a hat, or plan on forking out $250-300 for a Club pass. Another benefit of the club passes (besides shade) is that you can easily leave and re-enter the club area without standing in a line. Bathrooms are porta potties near the entrance of the venue. You will witness the best beach volleyball in the world. These talented athletes are thrilling to watch and very easy on the eyes! :) I attend every year, as I am an avid beach volleyball player. If you are only going to attend one AVP event, this is the one not to miss!

Youth Soccer Should Build Dreams, Not Break Them…read more We are witnessing a devastating failure of oversight at Sand & Surf Soccer Club. One coach in particular has crossed the line from discipline into cruelty -- speaking to young, hardworking, impressionable players in ways that drain their stamina, crush their confidence, and drive them away from the sport they love. This is not just about one bad season. It is about a culture where bullying goes unchecked, promises of improvement are broken, and leadership fails to protect the very children they claim to develop. When a single coach is allowed to act this way, the damage spreads across the entire club. Every young player deserves encouragement, respect, and the chance to grow. Instead, we see dreams being killed by words and actions that have no place in youth sports. We call on: Club members to demand accountability and refuse to normalize toxic coaching International soccer leadership to recognize this oversight gap and enforce standards of conduct Coaches everywhere to remember: your words can either build futures or destroy them Silence is complicity. It's time to stand up for the players whose voices are being drowned out. Their dreams matter. Their futures matter. And we will not allow negligence to continue unchecked.

Great communication and excellent soccer training for our son. Very organized and detailed.read more
