I've gone there for 5+ years and never a bad experience. I'm not sure why I didn't write a rave review for Salon de la Vie before but I know why I am now. Another client told me about an outrageous customer who insulted the staff with totally disrespectful language in front of other customers then posted to Yelp. Hair can be emotional but so is making your livelihood by building an amazing business through positive word of mouth. This one 2nd hand review speaks to service that is the opposite of all that I have seen from Angie or the team. IF Angie were ever slightly rude, it must have taken a ton of abuse to provoke it. I'm not sure why someone would go somewhere they thought was overpriced to get a haircut they did not like 3x, before losing one's cool on the fourth. I was so nervous because I've had such bad experiences at other salons (even a big name salon). She was so welcoming and really listened to what I wanted. I did show her some inspo fotos. I felt very comfortable after our consultation. She was very meticulous with her work. She took her time and demonstrated precision and patience (she is a perfectionist). Fast-forward to the end, I was so happy. My hair looked so much healthier and she literally did exactly what I wanted. I have been back since then, and will continue to go back as long as she will keep me as a client. I took my mother-in law to Aisha when she came to visit (she was having issues at other salons as well) and was absolutely amazed. When Cheron called me at 9:10 I immediately apologized and even offered twice to reschedule if that was easier. Instead she just asked for my ETA in an irritated tone and said she'd see me soon. From the minute I got there the whole appointment felt tense. I asked for a simple trim, some face framing pieces, and something low maintenance since I don't spend a lot of time styling my hair. It didn't feel like a difficult request but I felt like my preferences were an inconvenience. Even the shampoo was so rough it was uncomfortable instead of relaxing. The haircut itself turned out nice but what really shocked me was the finish. I paid $150 and expected at least a basic styling. Instead, my hair was blow dried with her fingers... no round brush, no comb, no straightener, no curls. Nothing. I genuinely couldn't believe that was the finished result. I'm happy I ended up with a decent haircut but the overall experience felt uncomfortable from start to finish and nowhere near the level of service I expected.

A basic women's wash and cut is $25, and the salon often runs Groupons so that first-time customers can get their cut for free. That's an incredible deal! The salon itself has four chairs and a small waiting area. The floor is hardwood and I've never seen the stylists' work stations looking less than immaculate.
