I went to Dr Sobel for a few years. Before he introduced his new skincare line we got into a long conversation about the products. I've been buying beauty products for nearly 50 years and I really know my stuff. He was pretty interested in what I had to say. Questioned me for a half hour. He told me he would give me something to try in advance of the line hitting Sephora. What he meant was I could BUY a product for $100 or so. Meanwhile I'd spend I don't know how many thousands of dollars at his office and he had a HUGE table full of stuff he was giving away for free to "influencers" and complaining about it. This place is pretty busy with high society of UWS and UES. I came here because I have always been an avid fan of Dr. Sobel. I am not sure if I can agree or disagree with the reviewer Janie T. But I did have to wait a good an hour and half just to meet with Dr. Sobel. I pretty much already knew my problem so I didn't really need Dr. Sobel's medical advice-all I needed was his signature to jolt down my Rx. The technician Judith-she's nice but she wanted me to get the treatment but Dr. Sobel told her I didn't need the skin resurfacing, so he didn't recommend it to me. Overall, I had a very good experience and I still continue to go there. I just cannot wait for Dr. Sobel all the time, so I go to Laura when I am in a rush! Not to mention, the staff embroidered lab coats....A minor detail but it does add a particular finesse. Once in the clinical space, before and after photos are taken and uploaded on a touch screen. Quite progressive technology for a Dr's office! This is extremely helpful, as you and the Dr. can discuss results and a further plan of action. I came into Dr. Sobel's office for Botox for teeth-grinding, or TMJ. no dentist has ever given me better relief than Dr. Sobel did with Botox. As a first-timer for botox, I called ahead with a ton of questions. Olga was so helpful, and let me know that Dr. Sobel never goes overboard with injections, he likes a natural look. Side note: TMJ injections reduce the strength of your Masseter muscle on the jawline, also slimming the jawline, which is why this is partly a cosmetic and not completely medical procedure of Botox. I have crazy jaw pain, I cracked my back molar during the night just hammering down on my teeth. Its insane and out of control. Going in, I felt great with his assistant Kelsey, she put numbing cream on and Dr. Sobel came in to do the injections. I got a few bruises right away, but they said they hate that, so they lasered them off my face immediately, for free. Love love love this service. Dr. Sobel and his staff are consistently wonderful from visit to visit. Everyone greets you by name, makes you feel welcome and comfortable, and offers you services and options that best suit your individual needs. The office is also beautiful, modern, and exceptionally clean! I see Dr. Sobel every few months to maintain my Restylane and Dysport injections as well as my skin care. The results from the injections are exactly what I aim for - natural! I always look and feel refreshed and more youthful without appearing to have had anything done. I recently began using Dr. Sobel's private label skin care, Sobel Skin Rx, and thus far have been very pleased (it has been about 4 weeks)! Every other day I wash with the 27% Glycolic Acid Facial Cleanser and every day I apply the 35% Vitamin C Face Serum and Bio Hyaluronic Moisturizing Cream. My skin is already becoming "cleaner" and "dewier" without causing any breakouts, over drying, or getting too greasy. Dr. Sobel is very obnoxious, fast talking and makes you wait forever to see him. His staff behind the desk are all unfriendly and so rude. They obviously all forgot that word travels fast and reputation goes along way when it comes to people and service. The irony is that he was voted one of the top doctors for 2012 -- that's a joke. I walked out of there so fast and will never return. I will also tell my friends to stay away from his Park Avenue address. It's a facade. That five star rating does not come easily from me. Let's begin with the 20-something waitress who carded me, in earnest, last night in Las Vegas, when I could be her mother. She was the most recent of quite a few dropped jaws since I saw Dr. Sobel. In fairness, I take care of myself, but it was time for a little zhuzh, as they say. This world is cruel to a tired looking female person. It has been a couple of weeks since I've seen Dr. Sobel and I look refreshed and rested after working/traveling non-stop without much rest at all. His touch is natural and he deserves all the kudos that he garners. We all just want to be "us" at our best. He makes that happen. The staff got some interesting comments here, and I would like to address that. The office is in New York City. The office is run by strong, New York City women. I found them to be direct, honest, and not once did they try to "up-sell". The staff is knowledgeable as well as kind. It feels like an elegant doctor's office - not a spa. First and foremost i must start by saying that this office is not all what it seems. Yes, they have a fancy office with fancy high end clientele however my experience here was not what i expected...i came in for lip fillers and was so mortified with my results, that I've had to visit two other injectors to fix my lips. Howard is snobby and very quick to brush you off if you have any concerns that don't seem to concern him. My lips were lumpy and not what i wanted of expected at all, He didn't even tell me the contra-indications or what i should stay away from post op my procedure. (This really affected my results negatively) so i don't recommend this place to anyone who wants to do their lips especially for the first time!! Not only did they take care of my bill and send me a very nice and sincere hand-written apology note, but they also enclosed a 1-month unlimited subway card with the note. It definitely made up for the hassle I experienced. I have posted positive reviews of Dr. Sobel in the past but felt I HAD to share my most recent experience!! I just had the MOST amazing procedure called My Ellevate. While relatively new it has recently been perfected. I hated looking at the annoying neck bands and loss of neck elasticity I watched every day on ZOOM. If you feel the same way this is what you want!! It's done totally under local anesthesia in Dr. Sobel's accredited operating room and only takes about an hour. No cutting of the skin at all. No painful incisions or sutures to remove and very minimal bruising or soreness. You see the results almost immediately!! I also had face tite at the same time. This is a radio frequency laser that goes under the skin of your neck and jawline to increase collagen production and tighten the skin. At the end of 2013, I began frequenting Dr. Sobel's due to Lucy, an aesthetician, who is beyond AMAZING at facials and advice in caring for my sporadically acne-prone/overly-dry to oily combination skin. I was recommended here by a good friend, and was pleasantly surprised by the treatment I received (AT THAT TIME, which has since changed ::see below::). After approximately 3 visits with Lucy back then, my face was radiant for a temporary, but substantially long time. At that time, Dr. Sobel was still taking health insurance for medical-dermatological/"acne" clients (but since has switched to pay-only "non-medical" dermatology/plastic surgery). Due to my bad acne at the time, and the fact that Lucy helped so much & recommended the doctor (at this time my acne was so bad I truly needed medical assistance-- thankfully, it had since past; and was likely due to hormones), I saw Dr. Sobel for a visit. Well, basically, after the nurse saw me for 10 minutes, he came in looked at my face for a second, recommended "injections" for my "cystic pimples" and left me with the nurse. When I asked if insurance would cover the injections, they told me it would. Well, it didn't; approximately 6 months later I received a $500 bill from Dr. Sobel (which I filed a claim thru my insurance because of what I was told at the time of visit, and eventually paid given I know very well how medical bills can catch up to you due to our severely broken health system). That said throughout 2015-end of 2016, I still maintained my bi-monthly facials with Lucy, who seemed to help the most. I realized quickly, I didn't need antibiotics as Dr. Sobel was so quick to prescribe, but only a good skin regiment. Unfortunately, however, I used to take half days off to see Lucy during the week, and she was always hard-pressed for time due to the over-booking at the front desk (I assumed Saturday's would be worse; unbeknownst to me that is not the case ::see below::). Given the fact that I work full-time taking a half day to reveal to the upper east side meant I wanted my full 1 hour facial by the best aesthetician around: LUCY. Eventually, Lucy told me to come in on Saturdays since this was a "down day." Which was odd to me as a career-woman, a lawyer, swamped Mon-Fri... but, great! A laid back Saturday sound amazing to get a nice facial and treat myself to good skin by Lucy! Fast forward to today. I had not seen Lucy in a while because my skin has become substantially better for almost a year. I made my appointment yesterday (Friday March 30th). When I called, my name was still in the system. The receptionist who answered (unfortunately, I did not think I would need her name at the time) advised that Lucy had two appointments left for Saturday "11am or 12pm." I requested 12pm, and she told me I was all set. I arrived today at the office to a blonde woman, obviously annoyed she was working. I was not greeted, nor was I asked anything. I told her I was here for Lucy's 12pm appointment, and I gave her my name. That was at 11:55. By 12:15, I saw Lucy walk in-and-out. She even greeted me; albeit it has been over a year since I had seen her so she definitely had not recognized me. By 12:45 I was still waiting, and got up to ask the front-desk if Lucy was with another patient. I didn't want to be rude, as I understand service sometimes takes longer than expected and would appreciate that same time for me as well. The young-blonde was half asleep when I approached the desk, looked up at me and said "yea, sorry." Two minutes later I saw Lucy exit explaining she needed a few minutes before her next appt (it was lunch time and this is understandable). At that point, Lucy saw me there waiting and went up to the front desk and asked the girl I had just spoke to if I was being taken care of. The girl told her "yea she's with Zara at 1pm." At this point I got up, expecting a question. After 1 hour of wasted time, I find out I "wasn't in the system." Needless to say, I declined to make another appointment. Not only has the service changed, but so has the entire office... from the second I walked in I couldn't believe the deception-- from the half-put together reception area - which had paint and screws and I worked on construction everywhere - a complete mess given the expense of that place! The only condolence I had for the nearly 1 hour I wasted sitting there completely ignored, to the NEAR $40 in USELESS cab rides to-and-from -- is that I had a nice quiet 40 minutes to enjoy a book I hadn't had time to read. That said, I am saddened by the fact that I truly looked forward to spending the money for Lucy to treat my face again. I am getting married in August, and truly needed the miracle-work of Lucy to assist in remedying my skin once again. Unfortunately, after the experience I had today, Lucy has lost a client, and my referrals due to the poor service at the front desk. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! read more

I can't say enough incredible things about Dr. Sobel and his team. Surgery can be nerve wracking, but not with them. From the moment I stepped foot into their beautiful office, I was welcomed so warmly and treated like family. Every step of the way, from the consultation to surgery to recovery, I felt so safe and comfortable. It's rare to find a practice where every single individual makes you feel so good and treats you with such respect. And even during covid, while everyone is masked up, every staff member remembered me by name! Dr. Sobel is an expert at his work. Dr. Sobel and his Skin Spa are the best in the city. I regularly see Lucy for facial treatments and my five star review is directly connected to my experiences with her. I consider her more of a friend now than an esthetician. I look just as forward to my conversation with Lucy as I do the actual treatments. She is knowledgeable and tailors her treatment to your individual needs-- which she realizes can change. What is best in the fall is not best in the spring. I really appreciate that she takes a holistic approach to her services (recommending diet advice) and I also love how up to date she is on new treatments/procedures/products. I saw some comments below about the front desk. The front desk is professional, efficient, and friendly. This is New York though and Dr. Sobel's office & spa are serious about what they do. That may translate into being direct, but I appreciate that as a customer more than I would a bunch of fluff to compensate for lackluster services. I am originally from the midwest and this isn't a place that is passing out donuts and laying out pillows for you if you choose to show up to your appointment 15min late. I've recommended a couple of friends to Lucy and always suggest booking a basic facial to begin. She'll examine your skin's needs and direct you from there. I am a new client to this skin care line. I used 1x last evening and the results show already. My face has a smooth matte look to it. I love this line and have tried and used many different skin care lines. I admit that some of them made my skin feel good and feel soft but this skin care line is different. It has a scent that makes you feel like you are in a spa combined fruit scent and all of the other ingredients makes for a beautiful scent. The skin packaging is simple yet bold and classy. I can't say enough about it., I just ordered and added the remaining products as I ordered the essentials first and I can't wait to try the hand cream and SPF product. I hope that Dr. Sobel plans to extend his line with a body care, or body lotion or maybe even a shampoo. I urge anyone who has not tried this line and is looking for a change or just to experience the benefits to definitely place an order you will not be sorry. Felt really rushed the 3 times I went in. Went for a silikon 1000 treatment for my lips and didn't get the result I wanted. Had a bad reaction to the silikon and told me that I had to pay to get a steroid injection to reduce the bump on my lip from HIS product!!? Unbelievable... Save your money!! Dr. Sobel has been my dermatologist now for just under a year and I'm very happy with the experiences I've had thus far. He seems to pay very close attention to detail, somewhat of a perfectionist, like myself. Although his office was busy and I waited a few minutes to see him, I was more than pleased wih his manner and the results. I especially like the fact that he didn't try to push anything on me that I didn't ask for just to make a buck. I did dysport on my eyes, forehead, and furrow lines and 1/2 syringe of perlane at my laugh lines. He also removed an atypical dysplastic mole that was suspicious and its healing perfectly. He was happy to see me again on short motice when I had a ridiculous concern about one of the treatments. I go to Antonia for facials. She's amazing. Please steer clear of Lucy. I had her a few times when I couldnt get Antonia and she isn't nearly as good. Extractions were super painful and I had some scabs from the facial and they're just not as thorough. Big difference between the two people, in my opinion. and oh, Dr Sobel is the worst. I really dont know how he gets those accolades by NY magazine every year. All he does is suggest weird procedures and invasive surgery each time I walk in there. read more

I am done with Dr. Sobel. The lipo he did on my abdomen had to be re-done because it was so lumpy. Blame me for going back - but I thought he can't screw up botox. I now have a paralyzed lip and a crooked smile. I have been known for my smile. I also am a public speaker and my speech is impaired. Thankfully, I think this stuff wears off. The fraxel lazer he keeps telling me is a must with my freckles - I have told him a number of times that he did that already.
