Each rental came in its own bag with its own identifying numbers, so my family wouldn't get our gear mixed up.

But not everything goes according to plan on St. John, and there were NO TACOS! That's alright, we just went with the flow, and no complaints. Instead, I had a Cruz Bay Burger, and my wife had the Mahi Mahi Sandwich. We picked up a painkiller and a lime in d'coconut to wash them down. You'll see people complain about prices at the Crossroads, but not us. The food was hot, tasty, and the drinks were smooth, yet strong (which is why we only had one each). It's worth a couple bucks more to have your food at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Maho Beach is one of the best places to see sea turtles, and we managed to see one, despite the cloudier-than-usual water, due to wave action. The other complaint you hear a lot is from folks who remember Maho from "back then," a quieter time, with no Crossroads. I get that, especially for folks who live on the island. But for the tourists, it's sure nice to be able to have a complete experience at Maho--amazing beach, food, recreational rentals, shirts, mugs, etc. We picked up a couple fun reusable pint cups with our drinks, and now use them back home. It's a happy memory, for sure.

The boat shuttle is a small little boat that fits up to 6 people and it took all of 5-10 minutes to get from the ferry dock to Honeymoon. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They set up your chairs wherever you want on the beach. They pull out the kayaks for you and give you the snorkel gear. I was a little disappointed because if you are just doing the equipment rental you're not allowed to kayak passed the confines of honeymoon beach, which is kind of small. I have a feeling that is for your own safety though so you don't get overzealous and find yourself lost out on the water without a tour guide! We didn't end up using the SUPs but they were available if we wanted. We snorkeled and unfortunately there wasn't a lot of fish. But we did see a couple sea turtles which was what I was hoping for!! I will say, the food and drinks they sell in the hut are super expensive and downright not worth it. So bring a mini cooler with snacks and water if you can! It was a leisurely day and we liked being able to snorkel and kayak of our own free will!

The biggest issue was the lack of organization from the start. We spent close to an hour waiting between multiple lines--first in the sun to exchange tickets, then again to hand off a second ticket. It felt unnecessarily complicated and poorly managed. Because of the delays, the boat traveled very fast to make up time. The water was choppy, and several guests became seasick on the way to the snorkeling site. There were also multiple issues with communication and expectations. We were not informed in advance that full-face snorkel masks were not allowed, which would have impacted our decision to book. The equipment provided did not feel clean, and we were told there were not enough flippers or beverages for everyone. The excursion description advertised rum punch, soft drinks, and snacks, but no snacks were provided. The rum punch was also very poor quality, and most guests declined more. While the snorkeling location at Buck Island was beautiful and the water was calm, the actual experience in the water was lacking. The guide quickly swam off and was not visible to the group, leaving guests without direction. Our time snorkeling felt short--around an hour. The return trip was slower and more comfortable, which we appreciated. However, overall this was the least enjoyable snorkeling excursion we have experienced. We would not choose this company again and would recommend others consider alternative options.

After about a ten minute walk from the ship, we embarked on our sail to Buck Island National Wildlife Refuge. Once we arrived at Turtle Cove, the crew gave us thorough snorkeling instructions (including: don't touch the turtles), and distributed quality equipment. They were super helpful to anyone in need. My snorkeling PIC and I swam halfway between the boat and a big group of people, and found a beautiful sea turtle having lunch underneath us. We floated with her for about an hour. Unfortunately, tourists from the other boat were trying to touch her. Ew. [$10k fine, by the way] Once we were back on board the bar opened for endless cocktails. We drank tasty rum punch all the way back to port. Overall, an AMAZING three hour excursion, I would definitely book again.
