I normally love this snowball stand . The ice is impeccable but just a note to the owner, went the night of 3/13 and you were likely training new employees. One girl had two new employees. As you can see in the picture my snowball had ice with no syrup. I had also asked for condensed milk and she gave me one pump of condensed milk. I did mention this to her and said "is that all that I get" she looked at me dumbfounded and handed me my snowball. I then got my car to mix my snowball and noticed the lack of syrup. I would have come to the window but it was closing and they had shit the window. This is early snowball season so just wanted to give you a heads up. I don't want to have to find another snowball stand because normally I love this place. Customer service is key to keeping a good business and teenage employees can ruin it for you if not careful. read more

Hands down one of the best Sno-ball stands in Metairie. The person I went with described the ice perfectly: velvety. I do not think I have ever had more perfectly shaved ice. No clumps, lumps, or chunks. It tastes like what shaved ice is supposed to taste like. I had the stuffed wedding cake Sno-ball with extra condensed milk. Their wedding cake flavoring is strong, which I love. They also give you EXTRA condensed milk when you ask. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I ask for extra condensed milk but there is nothing extra about it. I'm greedy with a beer belly. I need this. Their nachos are also great. The cheese is nice and thick. It's not watered down! I have been to stands where they have watered the cheese. My only hang up is the fact that there is no wheelchair ramp. It is 2018. People with certain disabilities should not have to sit in the sun because they can't use the steps. That's a bit disappointing because this stand gets a lot of regular business. Please consider making it l accessible for people who use wheelchairs and other users in need of one. I used to frequent this snowball stand alot, but this day is the last day. I felt down and all my snowball which 3:50 and nachos 5:50 when down also. Not looking for a whole lot but something since I just spent 9 dollars there. Little-known gem of a snoball stand on Jefferson Highway. There's a near-exhausting number of flavors available (including sugar-free options and a few real-fruit choices for people so inclined) and plenty of other snack options as well. I prefer Plum Street above all others but don't always feel like driving into the city just for a 2$ snoball. Sno Shak fits the bill! The line can get super long in the dog days of the summer but if you live here and are going for a snoball you already knew that was going to be the case. I stopped here because it was on the way back from my dad's house, it's not one of my usual places, but I figured why not? I generally stop here maybe a few times a year, usually after visits to my dad. I realized why that is the case. There are better snowballs in New Orleans. That's not to say this place is horrible. I've had better and I've had worse. That earns three stars from me. I got the jumbo size as I always do. They didn't quite put enough syrup in it, I saw a chunk of white ice where they missed a spot. I prefer a lot of syrup. The other thing that turned me off was their setup. They have bars on their windows and they keep them shut except for when taking your order and giving you your snowball. The window that they hand you your snowball is completely covered with newspaper articles so you can't watch your snowball made. Then there's a sign saying, "Please don't knock on the window." So it's like you can't check on your order if it's taking too long. Maybe they've been robbed there before or something but when I'm there I feel like I'm in a bank in a high crime area. read more

The ice doesn't compare to Hansen's or Plum Street and the flavors taste like the commercially made ones. This is about the only game in town along this stretch of Jefferson Highway so unless you're willing to travel about three miles further in either direction you won't find another snowball treat. I've only ended up here due to the fact that a Concentra drug testing lab is next door where yippee ki-yay I get to pee in cups for drug tests due to the line of work I'm in so after I pee I saunter over to this joint to get a snowball. The good thing about the remoteness of this place is I've never had to stand in a long line or seen a long line here but that could be due to my timing. read more

Cute place--well lit, some seating, easy parking, and ok prices. My biggest hang up is that it's not consistent. I've been about a dozen times over 10 years, because it close to me. The shaved ice is nice--but the flavors often taste off, or there's no cone shape snowball top (like it's half made), and the service is slow--whether you're the only one in line or 5 ahead. There's usually about 5 tiny boppers inside...goofing off. There was one time when I think the ice or something was contaminated--worse food poisoning if ever experience in my life after eating a bubble gum snow ball.
