What I ordered: I believe on the menu it was just called the Vienna burger, but it was a tofu schnitzel burger that came w fries and a soda. I also got the lime sauce that was an additional 80¢ and was so yummy and refreshing! The burger was amazing! This place really knows how to do vegan food! They also had a cool selection of sodas. I just got the cherry coke. The price was around 11€ which isn't bad for the taste and quality of the food. This place does everything right! I wish I lived in Vienna so I could come here more often!

But thankfully their vegan nuggets are gluten-free so I got their Nugget Salad (which is their soy protein "chicken" nuggets on a garden salad and a garlic sauce). (I would have preferred to have something that was vegan and gluten-free that was NOT fried, but I suppose I should be happy I had something to eat.) And it was tasty! The nuggets weren't dry at all and had a nice texture. There was a nice creamy sauce on the nuggets, and a different light (balsamic olive oil?) dressing for the salad that was also a great combo. I also got a lemonade for my beverage, but it was a carbonated soda, so not really my kind of thing. I should have gotten something else to drink. Would have been nice to have had at least a couple of other gluten-free options to choose from but the Nugget Salad was satisfying. No wifi unfortunately.

There I was, fridge empty again... sick of everything... but ya gotta eat! I Google "What's for…read morelunch" and come up with sub shop... suddenly I am craving subway. You see, the interesting thing about chains, esp one that has more stores than McD's (2010, 1,000 more, yes I am serious), is that they are consistent. You will, or rather should get the same experience in all Subway locations. So, here is my experience here vs. back home in the States. I think the breads are the same, aside from that fact that they seemed a bit more limp I didn't notice much difference. Flavor is on point, and the more rye breads look and taste like it. Meats at this location (particularly Chicken Teriyaki) seemed to be of slightly higher quality. Also, since they don't use little paper trays to add meat, but spoons, you get a little more! As for cheese, you can definitely get more types of cheese at an American location. Here they have two types, one is a shredded cheddar, and the other... well when I asked the clerk what kind of cheese it is, he answered "cheese". There are for sure fewer vegetable offerings here, I can say banana peppers and spinach were missing, but can't put my finger on what else. I will say that an advantage of this is that when it comes to vegetables, for me anyway, it is easier to say "everything", rather than have to list all the things I want. I do like that they have the same selection of dressings as U.S. locations, as from my 4 months in Austria, I get the impression that dressings are not as much a thing in this country as they are in the States. I deducted a star for more limited cheese and vegetable offerings. While it is nice that the meats seem to be of slightly higher quality, it does not over-rule the negatives.

However as there is no other option for Subway in Vienna it will have to do. But the food and so on is very much like in all other subways i have been in. I wish they will renovate it one day SOON. As someone else pointed out, there are no toilets and no trash bins. We had taken our tray inside to look for one, and a staff member immediately took the rubbish so that was nice. I ordered the Pretzel Burger (seasonal, for Oktoberfest) and felt my arteries harden while I ate it. I guess that's my fault for eating a McD's, so I should've expected it. It came with bacon, a meat patty, a fried cheese patty, tomatoes, lettuce, and ranch dressing instead of mayo. They didn't even show the calories on the box because it might deter anyone from eating it.

In terms of other McDonalds, this place really excels in service quality. We ordered a kids meal and they walked through exactly which toys were available and all I the possible options rather than just giving us the next option or assuming we knew everything we wanted. Service is truly 5 star. They also walk around to pick up dirty trays of food and generally keep the place very clean. I could hardly believe I was at a McDonalds. The food is comparable to any other McDonalds. WIFI is free and with a strong signal too. One annoying thing would be that there is no restroom and so you must use the public one for the train station outside at a pricey 0.50 Euro per use! Perhaps they could validate for paying customers.

The waitress was very unfriendly, she really didn't want to go to work. The food took a long time before it came and worst of all, it didn't taste good. I was so disappointed as this was my first Viennese meal! When it was time to pay, my husband tipped really handsomely, like he always does, and the waitress' eyes lit up and she sprang into life. I understand that waiters and waitresses work for tips with some restaurants but come on, you're at work so act the part. Overall, the experience wasn't great. I wish I went to McDonald's nearby instead.

The venue inside was nothing special, rather indictive of the chain character of the restaurant. The waiters were ok and till here everything was fine. Later on, I felt the need to visit the rest room and on taking downstairs a terrible odour caught me as I was walking down the staircase. When I returned our food was there. Nothing special here either. I confirm about a charge of 0.9 € per sachette of mayonnese or ketchup. The worst part though came in the end. I was right in front of my boss when the waiter came in for the bill but actually I wasn't paying attention as I was searching for something on my mobile phone. Yet I sensed that there was a mini dialogue about a tip to which my boss concured despite one last conversation we had the other night about the leech tipping situation that the US is currently facing, Right after exiting the restaurant I asked my boss if the waiter had asked for a tip. He nodded positively. "And you accepted..." I added in disappointment. To my sheer surprise he said with a cutting edge like tone "NO!" "What no?" "He asked and I denied. But he went on saying that the service was not included.. so I backed in" At this point I was already feeling my blood boiling. "But why did you have to succumb? You should have said NOOO! and if he inisisted the answer would still be NO and then we should see what happens." I was in distress. We were scammed. What's worse is the fact that this virus that has taken over the US is coming straight forward into Europe and it seems there's space and time to conquer here. I definitely DISCOURAGE anyone to visit this certain place but since it's right in the middle of a touristy area fresh victims will get milked day by day. So, why would the owners even care?
