When I first pulled in, they had a pretty large free parking garage which was super helpful! They have numerous rooms for meeting spaces, lots of computers, and multiple info. desk areas where people are available to help you if you need it. They also have a lot of resources for audiobooks online. The only issue is some of them can take a while to become available...Overall, I am a little bit sad I am just now coming to visit this library! I feel like I have been missing out! You can use the printers with a library card for 10 free prints a day (they are $0.15 each so up to $1.50/day). I will say just like with any place you need to be aware of your surroundings! There were a couple of times I was making sure I kept an eye out, but luckily there are a lot of people around as well as a security guard that makes his rounds. This made me feel super safe! The restrooms were also relatively clean!

Sampled one of their teas, Apricot Brandy, and it was amazing! My second visit was for a Japanese culture class. Another wonderful experience shared with many along with delicious tea. First floor is cozy with plenty of nooks to sit and be comfortable. I see patrons working, reading or crafting enjoying a drink or a pastry the establishment offers. You can also purchase loose leaf tea they serve as well as their branded merchandise along with local designers. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and I am looking forward to many more visits to the Philosopher's House.

When is the "up and coming" Business School going to be up? Looked like half the classes were taught by grad students, many who got their jollies off on flunking the students. The highest grade in the class on a test was 39 and tested on things that were not presented in the class or book. By the end, well over half dropped the class. And, we're going to pay money for this? You're not learning in this type of educational environment. People here, no class whatsoever. Screaming out windows, lacking in social skills, like the people had never been anywhere. Many of the students were dishonest liars, but that's the mentality you get here. No professionalism. A nutrition major 30 to 50 lbs overweight, nursing majors that didn't know basic anatomy. Just hard to believe. Our dorm manager had to be removed for lewd and obscene remarks to the females (which can happen anywhere), one of the Psychology PhDs or Masters in Counseling from ASU was such a redneck I actually refused to continue the services. One "college seminar" (I can't remember the title) the subject was birth control or sex, but the person presenting had this Cheshire Cat Grin on here face with glee and laughing because as she proudly stated had had an abortion. How she did it for all women and women's rights. She was so gleeful I thought she was going to tell us she had given her life to Jesus. I actually wonder if she regrets any of this. She then proceeded to tell us how her sister had also gotten pregnant and she immediately took her also for an abortion, almost as if this was a right of passage. One person I know said he would not allow his son to go here because of the school's reputation. And, it hasn't always been this way. Up until the 1980s, this was the premier school in notably music and education -students came far and wide, but not now. What happened? Basically, they all come from I-85 in N.C. going west. Regret ever seeing the place. Don't Walk, Run... away from this school.

Lots of books to check out. They have books that you can purchase there. They will even hold books for you. I like that you can check out books from here and if you need to, they can be returned to other libraries.

Always friendly and accommodating staff, easy pick up for books you've placed on hold and a great…read moreselection of used books for sale every time I visit. They have several activities and gatherings here throughout the week for all ages and even more so in the summer. The bathrooms are always clean too! Plenty of computers to use and lots of quiet, cozy spaces to hide out and read/study.

I tried to donate a couple of hundred dollars worth of books to the library - most of them hard cover - all of them in excellent condition. After lugging the books into the library, I was informed that I could not donate books at the library (they would not accept them at the main library location). I had to call so-and-so and make arrangements to donate the books at another location. This was the last time I'll try to donate to the Kingsport Library.
