They said I could find it here and it has been around for almost 50 years! And what a fantastic hidden gem located right behind the Publix shopping center on Roosevelt! I woke up this morning on a mission to get some fresh pressed carrot juice for my boy and possibly a sandwich for me. I had read about the 14 Carrot Gold Juice Bar located inside Weise Natural Food Shoppe on their website so wanting to have an excellent Saturday morning adventure, I drove over to check it all out. Holy Wow! Who knew this place existed? Well, apparently a ton of people because when I arrived, the parking lot was full of cars and people were coming in and out up until closing. I was greeted by a super nice lady named Sue and she asked me if I needed any help. I told her I wanted to get a fresh carrot juice so she pointed the way to the back. When I got there, an equally sweet lady named Lisa told me that I could have my carrot juice plain or with celery, garlic, parsley or ginger added or however way I wanted it. In addition, the juice bar offered organic fruit smoothies and healthy vegetarian sandwiches. I thought I had died and gone to HEAVEN! I opted for straight carrot juice and their curry "chicken" salad sandwich and then walked around the store to see all of the offerings. They stock a wide variety of herbs, supplements, vitamins, all natural products for the body, home and even your pets as well as everyday organic groceries and CHOCOLATE! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Weise-Pharmacy-and-Natural-Food-Shoppe/180411578676414 I was fortunate enough to meet and briefly chat with Gilbert Weise, Sr., the pharmacist and nutritionist, from which the pharmacy and natural food shop is named. He is a very interesting character and apparently comes from a lineage of healthcare practitioners in the area and continues the legacy. Not only does this man talk the talk, but he also walks the walk....if you speak with him, you will know what I mean (and feel guilty that you haven't already adopted his lifestyle yesterday). http://www.weiserx.com/retailer/store_templates/ret_about_us.asp?storeID=D5014D8206A24FA7A9B57A43F807BE7E Overall, my experience was exceptional! That had to be the most fun I've ever had in a pharmacy/health food store! Such an interesting and well run location with a great staff who really makes you feel like family. It's my new favorite place! Oh yea, by the way, the carrot juice was perfectly sweet and yummy and the vegetarian curry chicken sandwich was super flavorful and healthy. What a great way to start my day! I will definitely be back! :)

Yay! Every staff member I've interacted with has been incredibly nice and super helpful! Everyone who works there is truly so sweet!! There are so many amazing goodies and full meals in the grab-and-go section too! I have had a few issues recently with food having already gone bad once I've brought it home including some meat that already smelled rancid even before the best by date and a grab-and-go meal that had mold growing in it, so just try your best to check how things look as you're placing them in your cart (and most of the time, whoever has checked me out has been on top of checking the quality of my items for me too)- most things in Native Sun are fresh goods, so it's understandable that that type of thing can happen. And when I brought in the moldy item, they were super accommodating with letting me replace it, even without my receipt! Super appreciative that they care about their customers, the local community, and have just created such a lovely shopping environment that it actually makes grocery shopping enjoyable :)

Not in a bad way, but in that unmistakable health-food-store aroma that tells you there are herbs, oils, supplements, organic everything, and probably someone blending wheatgrass in the back with spiritual conviction. I walked in thinking I'd grab a couple of health bars or maybe a smoothie, and suddenly I found myself in what felt like a live-action documentary about modern hippie culture. Real hippies. I'm talking long dreads, natural fabrics, calm serene smiles, and an energy that says they own a crystal collection and know each crystal by name. The vibe inside was amazing. Everyone looked like they were on their own personal wellness quest, floating around the aisles with purpose, shopping carts full of things I didn't even know existed. I felt like I needed to level up spiritually just to stand near the kombucha section. And the café area had this cozy, earthy coolness to it that almost convinced me to sit down and contemplate the meaning of life over a smoothie bowl. The whole experience was wild in the best possible way. Grassroots Natural Market wasn't just a store that day. It was a full-on immersion into the hippie heart of Jacksonville, and honestly, it was fabulous.
