The smoothies were great! It did take a bit of time to get the smoothies the first time we went here but the next time it was really quick!

I was super happy to see this place open (RIP Pita Pit) since I loved the Smoothie King in another city. Stopped by last week to try it out, and then came here to read the reviews... I wanted to see if my experience was a "bad day" for this place. Sounds like it was not. So every other reviews mentions how long the wait is. They also mention the rudeness of the employees. Unfortunately that's exactly what I got out of the experience as well. They didn't seem super busy, there were only about six customers during the 20-30 minutes I was there. I think they had some online orders as well, as I saw one smoothie go into the refrigerator to await pickup. But each order has to be custom made, and it does take a minute. I get that. This seemed a bit beyond that. They moved super slowly and almost intentionally unrushed. I waited about 10 minutes to order, even though there was no one in front of me (other than people waiting for their drinks). Since the staff didn't acknowledge me or say anything, I took my cue to order when one of the employees stood at the counter in front of me and made eye contact. I asked about an item, and she actually moaned. "Those are such a pain to make" she told me. I was really surprised. It was a menu item heavily promoted with posters and fliers. I should have left then. I was just so shocked that someone would moan and complain about how difficult an item was to make, that I just quickly ordered my second choice (without even asking it if that option was any easier on the staff). I paid and tipped, and my total was over $16. My order came out about 10-15 minutes later, and while I waited, 2-3 other people came in. I also talked to another lady waiting and she had ordered on the app. She said that was the quicker way to go (but she was still waiting when I left so I'm not sure how much of a time save that is). My smoothie bowl was ok. It was small, and fairly ordinary. But the fruit on top was incredible! The strawberries and blueberries were super fresh and flavorful. I'll take that as a win. I usually go to Revive Cafe for their smoothie bowls. Much bigger, better, a few bucks less, and never, ever has anyone at Revive told me that my order would be a pain for them to make. They make it happily and make sure I have napkins, a spoon and offer a bag. Even with a tip at Revive, I'm out the door for about $12. So, it's a shame, but I can't imagine going back to Smoothie King, even with such a great location. I hope whoever owns this spot checks out the reviews and makes some changes. There's so much potential here, but the employees are deeply unhappy and they're tanking the place. Different attitudes and some friendliness would have made all the difference for me. If there is more than one customer, forget it. Usually only one smoothie employee/maker but a dozen blenders. Takes forEVER to add a zillion ingredients then blend.Unreal. First time there I was the only customer and it still took a long time to get my smoothie. It was very good I must say, hence 2 stars, but not worth that kind of wait. Today we just left. Extremely poor service. Our drinks were rang up incorrectly. We ordered 2 drinks and was charged for 1 drink that was typed in wrong ($12.89 for a $6.47 drink). Then the second drink wasn't even made until we paid for is (upon the manager request) since the second drink was never rung up. All in all we were charged $23 instead of $16 and walked away with 1 out of the 2 smoothies we actually wanted. The manager was very condescending to us and rude blaming it on the new employees/the machine. The manger explained she could remake our first drink since it wasn't what we ordered; although it has to be a 40oz (I wanted a 20oz) and they cannot refund us from the accidental "add-ons" that we were originally charged for. Horrible! This is the place if you wish to get verbally abused by some entitled teenage brats! One of the smoothies wasn't even edible. All of the bad reviews are absolutely correct! 3 - 16yo w/ major attitude. Workers are extremely lazy and rude. No manager. Can't keep orders straight or make them right. Takes forever. The owner of this business sees this as passive income investment & doesn't need to be there. "Just throw in some teenagers and hope they run my business right. I'll show up and collect the money at the end of the shift." I'll be surprised if this place is still open by the end of the year. Service is slow & team is rude! Even when you order on the app you still stand there for 10+ minutes waiting. They often have to remake them bc they can't get them to blend when all they need to do is add a splash of water. If the people were friendlier it would go a long way but even the manager is rude. read more

Ive gone here on my lunch break 2 days in a row. There was no line either day and i still had to wait 20 minutes for a smoothie?! I even ordered ahead the 2nd time and still had to wait. My inner karen almost came out fr. Good smoothies though but come on mcdonalds has good smoothies. read more

Today I went to Smoothie King and right when I walked in she said that she had 10 orders infront of us and it would be a while. She eventually got to us and then we sat. We watched about 10 people walk in and wait for their online order and just a walk in for 30 minutes. Another employee walked in and they started yelling at eachother for about 5 minutes. The manager screamed at me for picking up my mobile order smoothies after the cashier told me that they were at the end of the counter and to go pick them up. This isn't the first time I've had a problem with this place. They've told me there no such thing as a lactose intolerance I've wait 30 minutes for smoothies after 5 people ordered after me and picked up before me. So poorly run it's not even funny. Im not one to leave reviews this is my first time ever leaving a review for an establishment and I'm dumbfounded at how they treat their customers as someone that works in the service industry. This place is a double edged and and standard sword. The Good first. The smoothies are good and not a fair value. That as good as it gets. Now the bad if you food allergies "Do Not Come to this Business". Cross contamination of foods and the types various powders used in the making of the Smoothies is an unchecked and unmonitored condition of how they run this business. And probably the whole franchise as a whole! The Service of the employees is sort of friendly, but rude and disrespectful to both the Customer and the newer employees learning or haven't been there long. The training of employees is pour to say the least and is constantly showing. When staff ask a simple question of where equipment is of other staff and management they are made to feel incompetent, told to use equipment from another container (product in used right then) rather than finding or knowing where a clean equipment item is. Luckily the employee had found a clean scoop. But had the employee had used another scoop from any other container it would constitute a cross contamination food violation in any municipality. Also, management made this same employee belittled when advising her to shake the blender. She shook the blender. The Manager neglected to mention removing the blender's pitcher first then shaking it. He then failed to mention to hit to the correct blender setting to restart the blender, making her belittled, in front of me and rest of staff. This same manager when asked about the Protein content of the new High Protein Espresso Pumpkin Smoothie they were promoting and I had got tried to do this same exact act on me. The Customer who is asking him a question about a product question. Now first he tries to point me to the menu pamphlet, but as that was the the original pamphlet it was of no use. As I ordered on line and they didn't have anything there that was no good either, and nothing on the walls notices had any info except for what pumpkin items they had for a limited time. This guy was making things up to blow me off. It Vanilla Protein Powder, it's Whey Powder, Ahh it's Gladiator Powder. I told him what dose that mean, please look it up. I also knew that Pumpkin also naturally contains some protein on its own. Except , every answer he gave me was wrong. Well it turned out that the Protein content of the new High Protein Espresso Pumpkin Smoothie is 48g of Protein. That is 3g's higher than the 45g's in the Gladiator which is there highest regular menu item Protein Smoothie. So, this Manager got a little taste of what he just did to his, fellow co-worker. To be clear this Manager may have been a Supervisor or senior Staffer, but for ease of context. But he acted as one. I have actually seen the owner/operator of this establishment from the beginning how she operates and some of how she handles and trans her staff. Over the couple of visits I have made to this place since it had opened and a copy of employees I know who have worked and left with in weeks of being hired there. I was amazed to hear that they were actually finally removing their hiring staff posting officially the day I am basing this review on. The staff is not well trained, food safety is non-existent, and if Bettendorf, had any type of regular food and Safety inspections this place would probably not be in business very long. They're good, but do mind drink/eat at your own risk. They use a minimal safety disclosure notice to avoid getting into too much trouble. But is your health and a night stuck on the house throne for most of the night worth it. Unfortunately, if I needed a major protein boost in a hurry because of dietary issues I may have to go here again and change it. But it would be like playing Craps. Literally! Gabriel, the employee who demanded that my name was not what I said it was, is very impolite and unprofessional. Only been to this location twice. Both experiences had me leaving thinking "what the hell was that". Other than understaffing and not being able to manage onlines and walk ins efficiently which I understand is stressful and overwhelming, the staff is disrespectful. I went this morning around 9:30 am, there was one young girl working and I saw she was busy, trust me I get it. I never received basic courtesy of a "hello how are you" or a "sorry I'll be right with you". I was just met with silence and a few stanky side eyes like she wanted to tell me to fuck off. I awkwardly ordered and she said "yeah it'll be a second" in the quietest flat tone. I tipped out of fear my drink would be messed up on purpose if I didn't . I didn't wait for long but when my drink was done she rushed over to me, shoved it at me and ran off. Smoothies taste nice but the service is disgusting. Probably won't return. read more
