Clark did an AMAZING job painting our home in The Fan. He worked more efficiently than any other contractor I've hired, yet he made sure we were happy with every step along the way and paid close attention to details and quality of his work. One example that told me from the beginning he truly cared about the results rather than just "getting the job done": before we even started, he recommended that we try painting a small section in every room and viewing it in varying light for 24 hours before committing go colors. He did this initial painting himself as well, which included visits to multiple paint stores in some cases to find the right colors. Clark understood our vision from the start and not only was able to execute the job at hand he went above my expectations. He fixed issues with the drywall and ceilings that required attention to detail. He's very thorough and really has a true talent for what he does. He gave a quote via message in Yelp, then said he needed to see the place in person. I arranged for him to see the place today, gave him the whole day as a window, starting from 10:00 AM. 10 AM worked great he said. Today, no show, no call. I tried calling him after 30 minites of waiting but could not get an answer. No posted email and their phone doesn't accept texts, so I had no other means to contact him. I finally told him via Yelp message that I needed to proceed with another company because my time is valuable when I did not hear anything from him for over an hour after the appointment should have been kept. I finally get a message response from him at 11:50 AM saying "Oo." I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but if he's really that busy he needs to get someone to manage his business for him. Its one thing to choose to turn down jobs, it's another to ignore potential customers entirely. I leave 2 stars only because I cannot judge the quality of his work and because he was generally polite, but otherwise completely unhelpful. Edit: If I leave a review reflective of under- or non-performance, the best option is generally not to call back and be upset or complain, and then tell the potential customer that it doesn't really matter that their time was wasted because it was just an estimate and no actual work was being done. Nor is it best to respond back to call the potential customer "entitled." 15 minutes late is understandable. 30 minutes late is something I have patience for. It was only after an hour that I gave up waiting after not being able to make contact and left the property. I took off of work this day to take care of my responsibilities. It wasn't until almost 2 hours after the missed appointment that I hear anything back, and it's only "Oo." No story or explanation of why the appointment was missed except in his response to my review (which has been edited away, but it's his story to tell, not mine). I allowed ample time for Clark to apologize and try to reschedule or otherwise make some effort to respectfully explain why he could not give me an estimate. "Sorry" on its own would have garnered 3 stars at least. I will not reduce my rating further because I cannot judge the quality of the work. He could be Michaelangelo. But my house is not the Sistine Chapel, and I'm fairly confident I'm not the sort of client he's looking for. read more

Clark, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. He was very responsive to my message and came right out that day to give us an estimate. His painting and dry wall work was impeccable. We closed on a house recently and needed a painter to finish painting that same week. We didn't know if it was possible but Clark responded to my Yelp request immediately and we met him the next day. He was very enthusiastic and was able to give us different options for types of paint and scope of the job. We hired him after getting a few estimates. The other estimates were actually slightly cheaper but we knew we were in good hands with Clark and wanted to make sure we were getting a quality job done. I hired Smooth Finish to finish/fix up some repairs that needed to be done (ceiling from where recessed lighting was installed and a cat door that needed to be closed up). Initial contact was fast and easy. I sent over some pics and was provided a quote the same day. Day of they arrived within the window they quoted. Setup was thorough and they covered everything just in case. At every step of the way they kept me informed about what they were doing and what to expect. I appreciated the very friendly yet professional demeanor. When completed, they gave me more information during the final inspection. I reached out to Clark on the 26th of November and we set up for him to come out to the house on Monday November 30th. That evening he was running late (this should have been a red flag) and attempted to cancel (he was supposed to be there at 5 pm). But we went ahead with it anyway and he arrived around 830. When he arrived we talked about what we wanted done. We had 4 rooms (walls, ceilings and trim) to be painted and some sheetrock repair, however, my husband wanted access panels in the sheetrock. Although this was not normal sheetrock repair, they talked and he assured my husband this was "no problem" (if you hear him say this, watch out). He was pretty professional while he was there and seemed to know what he was talking about. The following day he sent us a estimate and we decided to go ahead. I sent him 50% of the estimate so he could get the supplies and start work on the following Monday, December 7th. December 7th, he was late. He said he would arrive at 830 but did not arrive until 10 am, with no phone call. I had to reach out to him. His helpers were waiting for him, but he was not there. Eventually he did get started and started painting ceilings walls and trim. HOWEVER did nothing with the holes in our sheetrock. I am not a contractor. It seemed as though that would be the first thing you would do, but I let it go and encouraged my husband to let him do his job. Occasionally we would take a look after he left for the day and see the holes still not closed but again, he is the professional. He said this job would be finished by Wednesday, but it ended up going until Thursday. By Thursday he was ready for us to take a look. Upon entry into the first room, I look around, paint looks pretty good (although there was paint on my light fixture) and notice the BIG HOLE that was supposed to be closed with an access panel. I asked him about this immediately and he said he could not do it! I told him he needed to speak to my husband. My husband came down and was not happy. Clark assured us he would have someone out in the "next few days" to put in the access panel. He said it was too much carpentry for him,( if he would have said that in the beginning I would have gotten someone else to fix it) but said he had a buddy who could fix it. He told my husband to hold back 300 since he did not fix the holes. My husband was upset and Clark went to packing up. When he was done he came to me and asked "Who was going to write the check?" I said, "Your not done!?" He said he spoke with my husband about the 300 and so I assumed (like an idiot) this was the plan. He told me he would have a guy back to my house and the holes closed, before we went on vacation which was the 18th. I paid him the rest (dumb I know, but I'm trusting). On December 18th I reached BACK out and he told me he still hadn't found a person! I told him how I felt about the paint on the fixtures (more than one) and how he did a touch up right before he left on the ceiling with the WRONG PAINT, so now there is a weird spot on my ceiling in the laundry room. He AGAIN said he would fix what was wrong and have someone at my house and that he "wasn't leaving me hanging". It is now January 7th and I have not heard a peep since. I have to say the paint job was pretty good, the trip looks amazing. It was the finishing of things that wasn't good as far as the paint is concerned. If he would have told me he wasn't capable my husband probably would have jumped in and helped with the access panels if he didn't know how, but he said nothing until the LAST day, and then just wanted to get paid. I wouldn't normally write a review like this but don't want someone else to go thru the same thing. read more
