He explained that the old existing white oak (which had aged to orange) in the entry and kitchen was a valuable amenity to the property and that we could instead feather in new white oak into the dining area to match and it would look seamless. I wasn't so sure, but we decided to go for it, and we're so pleased. The 'after' result is simply stunning. I am over the moon happy with the final product. And, I just have to mention that these guys really care and pay attention to detail. They moved appliances back and forth, thoroughly cleaned up, very little dust (which is crazy with the amount of sanding on the old wood floors), they covered furniture and had everything tidy at the end of each work day. We have an oak kitchen table that had accumulated decades of use & abuse (newsprint, spilled…read moredrinks, krazy glue, culinary nightmares) and we needed the top refinished. This is the sort of DIY project that any respectable handyperson could tackle in the garage. I am not one of those people. We had passed Jak's several times on our way into town, so we pulled in one day. Jak's doesn't look like much on the outside. Frankly, it doesn't look like much on the inside either. Plus, we have no idea who Jak is or was or why his name is spelled funny, since Chris is the owner. We got an cost estimate on the spot and a turnaround estimate of 3 weeks. The final cost was on the low end of the estimate and the work was completed a couple of days early. The table looks great, so this is a big win all around.
