What a fabulous diner! Authentic!…read more Walked into a very busy breakfast spot but the waitlist wasn't very long. Both the hostess and manager made sure Party of 3 was seated within 10 mins. We were seated in the train part of the diner and it didn't disappoint. Lots of greenery and eclectic Philly memorabilia too. Dorie was our waitress. Our table ordered: Chicken & Waffles, Breakfast Burrito and me - I couldn't decide so Dorie helped me create a sampler of sorts with Shrimp & Grits and 1 slice of Banana Foster French Toast. I originally ordered the Espresso Martini but it wasn't what I was expecting based on what I saw on IG. Dorie had no issue with getting me something else and brought me Espress Ya'Self. Now my daughter said the Breakfast burrito was full and tasty and her friend enjoyed the buttermilk fried chicken thighs, vanilla waffle, herb-maple chicken gravy, hot-honey, maple butter. It looked really good. Now imagine banana foster flavor infused over a Texas Toast sized french toast with caramelized bananas and dark rum glaze with pecans. Be prepared for the prices but it's worth it!

My boyfriend and I stopped by for a sold out Friday night show. Check in was fairly quick and…read moresimple. The room was completely packed and servers were under staffed. I read a couple of other reviews noting that service was chaotic and that was certainly my experience. After we were seated, it took a while for the waitress to come by. The table next to us told us that they had been waiting 45 minutes for the waitress take their order. It seems like we were placed in an area that was forgotten by the staff. Anyway after we placed our order and got our food & drinks, we never saw our waitress again. She came by at the end to give us the bill but didn't check on us for the entire show. We didn't even get a chance to order our second drink as part of the 2 drink minimum since she never gave us the opportunity lol thankfully there was no fee! For food we split the chicken tenders and fries ($24). Pretty expensive but surprisingly a decent portion with 6 chicken strips. Not to the fault of the venue but there was an incredibly rude and disruptive group behind us which was distracting to the show and really took away from the experience. It was disappointing that staff didn't do anything to intervene and tell her to be quiet. She was talking the whole time and her phone rang twice during the show!! Overall I'd probably come back for another show and mostly enjoyed my time. But at the same time I'm wary after the semi chaotic experience

My daughter and I went to a comedy show one January 22nd and main comedian was Brad Ttackman and he had two openers. Service was up to par. The comedians were fantastic. I haven't laughed so much that my cheeks hurt. What great performance. Drinks were delicious and we ordered the loaded French fries. They were delicious.

Okay. This place was the place to be BEFORE the renovation and now....its a total vibe! I didn't…read morethink it could get any better. I am by no means an edm/house music kind of person and that's what they played on every floor but I found myself jamming and feeling free. The amount of space there now is, is awesome as you don't feel overstimulated by the crowd. The fact that there's an outdoor area for people to smoke/just get some fresh air without having to leave the venue was something I didn't think I'd love so much. Absolutely would recommend this for everyone to take their friends out for a night out One thing to note - it was ticketed to get in and was $17 but I'm not sure if this is a thing that happens often

The Barbary reopened!…read more It's aight. I feel like I might be having my "old man shakes fist at cloud" moment: the place is clean. The numerous toilets and sinks all work. There's not a single bumper sticker or graffito to be seen. And drinks are still 2025 cheap... I think. But the inside is just kinda all black and neon... like "hey, we're cyberpunk now." Barbary, you were already cyberpunk when you were just regular punk existing at the edge of technological apocalypse, bro. Cyberpunk is crusty and biohacky, but I don't even know if that's what you're going for. Anyway, the place is nice. It even has what looks like a little bottle service area. I think back in the 2010s Barbary, the closest thing to bottle service would have been the dancing proletariat seizing the means of drunkenness from the owners and sharing cheap tequila amongst the people. And that's what I miss the most. Did the Barbary lose the jank and lack of maintenance money that made it an institution, or am I just old? The answer is yes.
