Jazmin, Anna and staff are amazing these ladies have amazing customer service they are on top of it all. They get things done. Worse costume service! Residents are unable to enter to the fitness center. they give you a key but the key doesn't work because the lock on top is always locked. Management is rude and unprofessional. I can't wait to move out of here. read more

Do not give this place a holding fee to hold your apartment after applying. They made our experience a whole lot of problems and then after we just decided to go elsewhere because of all the issues tried to keep our $200 for trying to rent the apartment. They told us they had given the apartment we had on hold for a one bedroom to someone else so they tried to upgrade us for a more expensive one and when we told them we couldn't, wouldn't give us our $200 back. Definitely unprofessional. Very disrespectful employees and they admitted that they made a mistake on their end but weren't willing to make it right on their side. read more

DO NOT LEASE AT SMOKETREE In response to my yelp review, the property manager said he was saddened to hear about the unprofessional management and experience at SmokeTree which I made public and to give their office a call. Well I did contact the Regional Property Manager, Lisa Haslam, in writing, but this attempt to reach out to senior management at the regional level, was also ignored. I visit here sometimes. I have a handicap placard for when I drive my step dad around whom is blind in one eye. On March 30 th I arrived at 5:00 pm , there were no available handicap parking spaces. This is the first time I ran into this issue. I have already been told by tenants that covered parking is reserved for tenants that are renting but that non covered parking were available if the the space isn't taken. I made sure my placard was visible as I had been towed 4 days prior for forgetting to put up my placard. I was helping my step dad to the unit and thought it'd be ok to leave the car there . My car was towed about 30 to 45 minutes later. There is no visible sign anywhere distinguishing that guest parking is not permitted and it's my understanding that notice must be given before the car is towed. In my experience at other complexes a sticker or note is left warning that the car may be towed in the future. I've been towed twice now without any kind of warning from smoketree mamagement. I understand the first offense was my fault but it seems like management at smoketree gets a kick out being malicious toward tenants and visitors . I have yet to hear any tenant say anything good about management it seems like they are vindictive slumlords. There is ample parking near the leasing office that is available for rent yet is empty night after night. It seems unfair for visitors in my situation to have to find out this way, that permit is required for open parking spaces.It's because I usually park in the handicap spot that I didn't think to ask. I've done research and an attorney told me that this may in fact be an illegal tow. Here's what they had to say - "If there were no signs indicating that visitors parking was restricted or prohibited and you were towed from that location without warning, it could potentially be considered an illegal tow. California law requires that there be appropriate signage posted to inform drivers of parking restrictions or towing policies, and failure to provide such signage can result in an illegal tow.Additionally, the fact that the property manager authorized the tow without any warning or prior notice could also be considered a violation of the law. If you believe you were illegally towed, you may want to consult with a lawyer or contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles to file a complaint and seek recourse. It's important to keep any documentation, photos, or video footage as evidence of the circumstances surrounding the tow. " I plan to file a civil suit against management and would appreciate that they reach out to reimburse me before I do. I tried contacting the leasing office at 11 am the next day on a Friday and the office was closed. I was at the mercy of friends and family available to give me and my step dad a ride to NYC towing in Palm Desert to pick up my car after a $370.00 charge. NYC towing was not very compassionate about my situation at all and I'm surprised that they towed the car under these circumstances. It seems like NYC Towing in conjunction with Smoketree management engage in "fishing" when it comes to towing cars. Most complexes have signs to warn tenants and visitors and most complexes give warning in these situations. read more

It's never no where to park. Guest parking always taking due to one household having 6 people living in the apartment all 6 people drive cars but one tenant on the lease it makes no sense. Maintenance ride around in circles not doing work orders in a timely manner. Good luck read more

Great apartments, good neighbors good management. The major complaint and only bad part of living here is parking is an enormous head ache for families with more than 1 car, if you have more than 2 it gets really challenging and for families with 2+ you'll find yourself at least once a week driving around in the middle of the night for parking for up to half an hour. That's only if you go out in the evenings sometimes we would choose to stay home just not to deal with the parking situation. read more

I just moved into this apartment complex November 15, 2019. The application process went quickly and smoothly just like I had hoped for because I was needing to quickly relocate. The women in the office were very informative and helped make the process even faster letting me know everything that I needed to have in order to get in quickly! So far I love how quiet the complex is. I also love that they have enclosed garage units for my car so I know it's safe! The amenities are great so far and since I watch my grandson on the weekends I'm loving that I have a pool and playground within walking distance of my apartment. There are a few things that need to be addressed in my apartment but I've been assured it's nothing that maintenance can't handle in a timely manner. I look forward to living here for years to come!!! read more

Lived here for two years. I work in property management myself so I understand how things work, and understand how some tenants can get. That being said, The office is the worst, to be quiet honest I do not know how they are still working there.No respect and no professionalism. Gina attitude is horrible, and she is disrespectful. Jim the property managers professionalism is very disappointing, and condescending. They really do not care about their renters. There was an occasion in the summer when it gets really hot triple digits, I have a 1 year old and the AC was not cooling, walked over to the office to let them know and I was greeted with Gina's attitude and response was " we will get to it when we can" The two years I was there, never did they do a property inspection. They have a mold problem as well, their solution to getting rid of mold is spraying bleach (which does not kill bacteria only removes the color) and painting. Yet we paid a rent of $1700. I seriously recommend look elsewhere to live. read more

My girlfriend and I have been searching for apartments for her to live in due to a new job opportunity. We were told to stay away from Indio Ca. unless it was located in the southern part, and we found this place! Mind you this is our first time looking for an apartment. The girl who showed us around was really nice and helpful, but maybe she was new because her coworker (Priscilla) kept jumping in and was really rude toward us. Just a know it all kind of attitude. We left kind of unsure, so we looked at a few other places. The more we looked the more Smoketree apartments seemed right for us. So we went back. When we got there we found out my girlfriend left her ID there, and they disclosed to us that they looked her up on Facebook (I understand they were trying to contact her, but I found it odd and a bit creepy). We filled out the paperwork and turn in the deposit (which is only accepted as a money order), which wasn't told to us beforehand. I was a little annoyed because that should have been mentioned to us, instead of us driving around to get a money order. When the paperwork was done we were told that once we were notified about the background check we would need to have a $500 deposit ready within 24 hours. We agreed to all the terms and left excited. Monday morning my girlfriend was notified she passed the background check, and that a full months rent $920 was due in 24 hours. We were upset because we didn't understand why it was so much. Priscilla of course was the one helping us. Instead of trying to find a different way of explaining things she just continued to say the same thing over and over again. She was extremely rude. I couldn't believe that she, who work at the leasing office, who is suppose to make you WANT to live there was such a jerk! I figured if she's this way, the first person future tenants have to deal with, I can only imagine what the management is like! My girlfriend went immediately to pick up our deposit. You want to fill your apartments with legitament people, then treat people with respect from the moment you meet them. read more

In my first few months of living here This was true! Smoke tree is a pretty quite complex. Everyone is friendly but quite with no trouble, good place to live in Indio. But now after a change in management and new owners. This place has gone down hill! There's never any parking and they no longer care about who they rent too. They just raised the rent again but yet they still have riff raff smoking weed, partying and screaming at all hours. Previous security used to walk around and keep the peace but that must have gone away with all of the budget cuts. :( looks like it's time to move on. read more

I live in this apartments and the AC unit is in my closet. Every year there has been a leak coming from the unit. It has destroyed several important items of mine. tools, my computer that I kept in My Closet. The most frustrating thing was management told me to for it and let them know immediately, because it's going to happen every year. I asked if there was a permanent fix for this issue the lady said no . I have full pictures of a running rapid leak coming from my ceiling into a container that gets filled within a few minutes. read more

The only good thing about these apartments is the girls help in the front office. Usually maintenance is good too but not today. I had an after hours emergency and called the after hours maintenance. I've been trying to reach them since 5am since the office doesn't open until 9am, and they are forwarding my calls to voicemail. Very upset. I have to get to work to pay rent and can't do that since I can't open my garage. What if this was a life or death emergency with my toddler? Not happy. read more

This is my second year here and most likely will be my last. I'm currently looking for a new place to live. I am very disappointed with the effort that is being put into this community. First year my fiancé and I lived here HIS CAR GOT STOLLEN! Right in front of our apartment. This was in 2018. Still have not found his car and we had to buy him a new one. So with that being said, we have purchased cameras within our apartment due to the fact we did not feel safe at all and still don't! Considering we have a 2 year old daughter. Another note, our refrigerator. I have gone into the office 6-7 times throughout the summer due to the bottom of the fridge keeps freezing my food! I have placed 6 work orders for this issue to be resolved. It is a very very major inconvenience to my family. Food is not cheap and neither has our electric bill this past summer! Almost $200 for 3 people that live in a 2bd 2bath apartment! Ridiculous to me. This problem has been going on for the past 2-3 months and I am honestly fed up. Rent went up $80 and I can't even get a new fridge? I will not be staying here next year and I do not and will not recommend this community to anyone. If my rent has to go up I expect the admin office to help their residents to the best of their ability in order to keep this place running. read more

The manager is rude she doesn't care that there has been people stealing things from some of the residents that live here at smoke tree my friend called to report that some property has been stolen and all she said was "uh ok" are you kidding me? how is that supposed to make me want to stay in smoke tree when there's things happening in the apartments and she doesn't seem concern at all i don't feel safe in this apartments anymore they went from being the best place i ever lived in to the WORST that i just want to just move out. I think shes just concerned about her dog she seems to be always walking him/her thats all i've seen her do because the assistant claudia seems to do all the work. The apartment is1 bed room 1 bath(dey have 2 bedroom also) the bathroom gets stains if your shower with the door closed (yellow stains on walls) when your eating if someone gets in the shower you can hear the water falling down in the dinning area. They have 3 pools there nice and clean i wont complain about those. they have 2 gyms but some of the machines don't work $25 for the gym key is not worth it better for you to go get a real gym membership. they have a tennis and basketball area its ok i guess nothing fancy they could do better with all this rent were paying. you get a garage thats good parking is horrible you have to pay extra for a carport if not you have to drive around until you fined a open parking space if its late around 2am and there's no parking you have to drive around till someone leaves. i think the best thing is that they have a washer and dryer unit in your apartment i seen a car tagged a car with graffiti... and they have security it seems to me that they need to fined a new security company that actually works during the night . ... i wouldn't recommend anyone living here because i want to move out of this place. read more

Evil management. They are clueless about everything. Here are a few bulleted points as to why these apartments are horrible. 1. Car break-in's/theft is a big problem. Management does not care. Prepare to have your car broken into once every couple of months. 2. Your deposit is a free rent payment to them. They will absolutely not refund your deposit no matter how beautiful the place looks. 3. They hand out fliers which enter you into raffles if you leave reviews with 4+ stars on apartment finder. Aka if you are honest, you don't get randomly discounted rent. HUGE scam. 4. Parking is miserable. Good luck finding a spot. 5. Apartments are poorly made. Everything breaks and the office will blame you. Avoid them at all costs. read more

I've lived here for more than a year ago and so far I love living here. In the beginning it was a bit annoying because of the previous manager, she was rude, nosey and an instigator. The other staff however are very friendly, helpful and nice. New manager is friendly and helpful. All the staff are prompt to help, specially the maintenance guys. Any problem that I've had, which have been minor, they come and fix it in a matter of minutes. The longest I've had to wait for something to get fixed is one day, but it was minor. I love my apartment... I can't complain about my neighbors because I can hardly notice they're there... No noise. The garage that came with my unit is so convenient... It serves me as storage and it fits my car perfectly. The only thing I have to complain about is that unless you only have one vehicle or pay extra to rent a shaded spot (all have been taken) you have to drive around to find a spot... Specially after 5pm until midnight you have to literally race the others to find a spot. The pools are kept clean and nice. The dog park is well maintained and stocked with bags for waste disposal. The place is safe thanks to the courtesy patrol at night... Through out the day you can enjoy a walk around the well shaded property and take your kids to the pool or the little playground. The location is great because your at the center of indio and its close to grocery stores, coffee shops and some schools, also it only takes a few minutes to go to LA Quinta, Palm Desert or to take get the freeway. What can I say, I can call this place home and I'm comfortable here right now. read more

This is a very nice place to live. The staff are very nice and helpful, they also have many cool promotions and tons of amenities. Such as pool with the hot tub, tennis court and basketball court. There are lots of trees that make the place look very peaceful. They got 24 hour maintenance and the units are very spacious! I would definitely recommend this place! read more

The only reason I gave 3 stars is because I love the quiet location of the complex itself and the location of my apartment. I have lived here for about 5 years and have seen 6 different office staff and 2 Managers. But the same maintenance men with the exception of One they are really great guys, very professional and get the job done. I have recommended over a dozen of people to move in here because I truly do love the place itself. The only big and consistent problem myself, family, and referrals have had is the office staff and their attitudes. You would think they would bend over backwards, be friendly, and convincing. But they are the complete opposite. With the exception of Ashley Who is great and just seems to get it. There is always a problem when I call up to the front office for any reason, the misunderstandings that occur on their end are so ridiculous at times. More times than anyone would like they don't answer the phones and when I have walked up to the front it made sense why, employees are on the computer looking at makeup sites and on their social networking. It shouldn't take damn near 4 1/2 weeks to hear back from the office who ordered a replacement dishwasher for my unit and it had been sitting there in there storage for 2 1/2 weeks when I ask why they didn't think to call me or put in the work order, I get an attitude saying well we figured you needed the replacement and you would call...?!?!!!?! Are you kidding me?? It must not take much to "run" things. In that case I'm sure I can be a better leasing agent in that leasing office then the one that gave me Her wonderful attitude. I really hope the property management company who is in charge of all this makes a real change. When Priscilla isn't there things get done and I dont get any attitude. read more

My husband and I moved here in Jan/Feb 2007 and have been here ever since. It's nice, quiet, and perfect for us. When ever there has been a problem with anything in the apt or around the complex it gets taken care of pretty quick. read more
