It definitely made me ready for the main course. I chose the ribs and was a little jealous of my friend's choice of the brisket. It was a full rack of ribs, which arrived not quite warm though the fried potatoes on the side were still hot. Perhaps a little overdone, but I have a very high standard for barbecue. Before I start, I'm a native Texan so I know a thing or two about BBQ -- picky as hell. It's been a home run at B-Smokery both times. If I had to pick, their ribs and coleslaw are my favorite -- plenty of meat on the ribs, and nice vinegar hint to the slaw to give it that acidic kick. This particular night, I had their "small" all-in platter that samples all the meat -- ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and two sides, coleslaw and grilled veggies were my choice. Cornbread included. Everything was delicious. And the "small" portion was super filling. If I had to be critical, the beer selection is fairly limited. But they've expanded the bar selection since the previous time I was here, so at least they're getting there :) I warmly recommend B-Smokery -- go there today, like now, and get your BBQ grub on! Overall, kudos for really, really amazing preparation of plant-based dishes. We all ordered an array of dishes; two friends got the salmon, one the BBQ ribs, and I went with the Fried Artichoke dish. First, we were served a sampler on the house, which was amazing. These little appetitive-type finger foods were bursting with flavor. I have no idea what was in mine aside from the peanut, but I could have eaten ten had they been served to me. My friends (who placed the order in Finnish) surprised us with a sampler consisting of many veggie sides. The veggie sides, mostly consisting of root vegetables, were amazing. Cooked in light oil, seemingly chilled and locking-in all the freshness of the produce, I was blown-away by their crispness and juiciness. Delicious. Then we were served a side salad on the house, which the server went to the extra mile of ordering mine vegan. This one was also tasty, served with a tangy dressing and roasted peanuts. It was an adequate predecessor to my entree. My main dish was superb; the artichokes were fried but done so in way that still allowed the them to standout. The rest of the veggies that paired it were crisp and juicy, like the ones from the sampler platter and complimented the dish excellently. The avocado creme was different, like nothing I have ever tried before. Though not my favorite dipping sauce out there, it was tasty. Different, but tasty. I would actually go here again before departing or on a return trip to Finland. The staff, ambiance (cottage like, cozy, and welcoming all-around) and plant-based dishes made my first dining experience in Finland worth remembering. Thanks!

The dumplings get a 10/10, there were the perfect warm comfort meal I had been craving with the rainy Helsinki weather. The pork Bao were okay- they were really sweet and I found myself trying to add toppings from the dumplings to correct it. They also came with a sauce which was also sweet- I wish it had been more savory. Finished the dumplings of course but left one of the pork buns. Overall a win, I spent roughly $28EUR, if I were in the states that would be a lot for dumplings but seems like the average price in Helsinki. I highly recommend checking it out, this place was packed! People continued to pour in throughout my 15 minutes of waiting for my take out. Clearly it's a local gem.

Forewarning; I caught the red eye out of NY the previous night and this ended up being my first full meal at about 7pm (Finnish time). So, I was HUNGRY...and it was cheat day. For a drink a had the Whiskey Espresso Martini. I never had whiskey and espresso together but wasn't a bad touch. Will definitely try again. I started with the loaded fries with bacon, cheese whiz and I think ranch(?) on the side. The fries were good. Crispy, not overly salty and the cheese was melted nicely. I had the the BBQ Bacon cheeseburger. Which was cooked medium (how I like it) and very juicy. The toppings were house made BBQ sauce, shoestring onion rings, cheddar cheese and bacon, haha, it was GOOD. Bacon was crispy and the sauce was flavorful. I ended with the sinful hot fudge sundae; 3 scoops of ice cream, hot fudge sauce, walnuts, whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles and a cherry on top for a healthy touch haha. This was simply amazing. From the balloons at our table to the special desert and the great service, this was a visit we will always remember. The location itself was very nice looking with lots of classic memorabilia in an open and airy feel. They also had an outside "coffee shop" type of location separate from their restaurant which was unique. The local Legendary Burger had some great Scandinavian flavors and they even have a special Scandinavian menu with unique foods and deserts. Can't wait to come back to visit again. Thanks for the memories!
