I have been a fan of Enniskillen General Store since I went to its butter tart festival a couple of…read moreyears ago. Its main store sells butter tarts, Kawartha ice cream (in scoop form and in tubs), hot sauces, and plenty of gift ideas. In recent years, it has opened a few locations. Its newest location has opened up in Oshawa. It is probably the closest location to my home. Today, I decided to check it out. The downside was that I was driving down Ritson Road North and there was a major accident at Taunton Road. I took a break at Arby's before I did a detour to ultimately get back on track. It was easy to find this store thanks to a red sign that clearly had Enniskillen General Store on it, with ice cream flavours in scoop form. I parked. There are a limited number of spaces. I managed to back into a spot in a corner. It's a compact parking lot. I walked in. I liked everything. It's a long store. Jerky, tubs of Kawartha ice cream flavours, and fine gift items are to your left. The ice cream flavours that you can get in cone or cup form are in the middle of the store. Candy, hot sauces, and cold beverages are in the far right corner. Every time I am in any of these stores, I am happy as can be. I came here for orange cream pop Twizzlers. There were plenty of bags. I grabbed one. Above them were bags of Reese's white peanut butter trees. Wow! I grabbed a bag as if money were no object. I checked out the pop section. I love getting an ice cream float here. Instead, I found one of my favourite drinks as of late. Dr Pepper makes a vanilla float in a can. It is so good. Without any thought, I grabbed a can. The checkout is over on the left side. I saw samples of perogies. I basically threw a cheddar perogy sample in my mouth. It was cold, but still yummy. You can get a bag at the store. The woman at the counter didn't seem friendly at first. I broke the ice by saying hi. Perhaps she was still getting used to customers as a new business. The sign says debit and cash only. However, I paid using a credit card and I was good. Weird. She gave me a bag, which was great. I thanked her and walked out the door. Unfortunately, I didn't see any butter tarts. In a way, I am glad. I would have bought a dozen and inhaled them all by now. Yes, there are crazy good. Tonight, I consumed my Dr Pepper vanilla float. Delicious! I need to get more. I haven't tried my other goodies yet. I suspect that I will enjoy them. I like this store. I had some business in Whitby sometime in November, 2019. When I had finished, I got to my car and was about to leave for home when I noticed The Corner Store. For some months, I had been looking for a particular tobacco called "Drum." It was sold out at my regular convenience store in Markham, so I had taken to randomly look for it in out of the way places in hopes of someone stocking it. The owner of The Corner Store, who was behind the counter that day, told me that he had run out of Drum and was unable to get it anymore. He asked if he could take my phone number in case his supplier had fulfilled the back order. I gladly obliged. About two months later, in January, I got a call from him. He had received his order and was calling to tell me as he'd promised. Awesome! To this day, March 2020, the stores in Markham still don't have it. Thank you Corner Store!! If I lived closer to Whitby, I'd do as much shopping there as I could!

I have always been curious about the convenience store on CoCo's left side when you're staring right at it. Time 2 Time Convenience is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the sign. It's perfect for students at York University who need something at odd hours of the day. I saw a mini van in front of the convenience store. A man was offloading bags of milk. After fetching my bubble tea at CoCo, I went into the convenience store. I was curious. I do like this store. Ice cream bars and Mr Freeze greeted me. It took me back to being a kid visiting my local convenience store. Sadly, prices aren't the same! What I like about this store is the selection of pop. When I see A&W cream soda, Dr Pepper strawberries and cream, and Crush in peach, grapefruit, and strawberry, I know that I've hit a gem of a store. I grabbed a bottle of Dr Pepper strawberries and cream. I didn't bother looking at how much sugar was in this beverage and how quickly I'd crash from a sugar high. I wanted the drink. This store also has patties in mild and spicy beef, chicken, and veggie. They looked good. Each patties goes for $2. I asked if I could get a mild beef. The man who was hauling milk into the store said that they weren't quite ready from the oven. He offered to microwave one. I decided to go with the spicy beef. I said that patties aren't as yummy nuked. He agreed. I paid for my goods. I rarely have cash on hand. This place charges 25 cents if you use your debit card to pay. If you're using a credit card, you get charged 75 cents for the transaction. A quarter didn't seem horrific. I tapped and was good. I thanked the woman behind the plexiglass. She wished me a nice evening. I reciprocated and headed to my car with bubble tea, pop, and a patty. I ate my patty in my car. The sleeve had a lot of information. If you want to sleep soundly, read it. My patty was yummy. It wasn't all that spicy. The beef was yummy. The dough part was perfect. I had my pop as I drove home. It does taste like strawberries and cream mixed in with regular Dr Pepper. It was enjoyable. I like this store. I'm glad that I dropped by to check it out. I'll be back. (187)

I am now in my 30's and while I no longer live in the area I still come back every now and then. The family owned and run store is the best, and the people are friendly . When I was 10 I tripped over a curb infront of the store and hit my head splitting it open. The owner came out and took me inside and held a towel on my head until I was taken to the hospital. Generally caring people that have been in the community for a long time. While the area has changed a lot and the people in the area are not the same this store and the owners have not changed.
