The brisket was great if perhaps a little "moist" with fat. Tasty and nicely done with little sauce. The cole slaw was crunchy and tasty but a lot less mayo than I would have preferred. We've been using Smoke Ring for onsite employee lunches--both catered and via their food truck--for quite some time. While our employees genuinely enjoy the food, the service has been increasingly unreliable. On multiple occasions, they have simply not shown up for scheduled events. After the most recent no‑show, we made numerous attempts to contact our representative, all of which went unanswered. This has been especially disappointing considering Smoke Ring had repeatedly asked to become a regular vendor at our location. We gave them that opportunity, hosted them consistently, and then they completely ghosted us. Unbelievable and unprofessional. Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend them as a dependable vendor. read more

The fake brisket is chuck roast and ita so salty, unless you cover it in BBQ sauce, it isnt edible. The Mac and cheese has a burned taste not smoky. Its like a big clump of burned paste. Garbage and it cost me 17 bucks. I threw the food away in front of them and told them. They said oh sorry about that. read more

The food was not worth my $14 dollars the beef was nasty and the taco was soft shell and falling apart the tomato's was the size of a quarter, the queso was orange I didn't even eat it. Food trucks are street food so why don't yall have street tacos? I give them a 4 out of 10 the workers was nice food was a waste of my money. How are you going to let online orders be placed when you are not open? Placed an order for 6 people and it ETAs 25 minute pick up time. Show up to the location, and there is no truck and it's not open. On google the truck is open and the website allows order now. Fix your business, it's an actual joke. read more

Brisket sandwich was wildly good. As a bbq lover that prioritizes a good sauce, I was fully overwhelmed by them having like five different sauces that were all equally excellent in their own ways. I just went back to the Hazel Park festival that I ate this at for the second day purely to buy another brisket sandwich from them. I dislike writing bad reviews, but this was bad from start to finish. There were screens on the truck that had old, hardened sauce on them, and the outside of the truck looked like it had not been washed in . . . a long, long time. The pulled pork was so bad, that I can say it was the worst I have ever had. There was so much fat that Smoke Ring had no business serving it. At the very least they should have drained all the fat and juice off it before putting it on the bun and serving it. The sandwich bun was a sponge for the fat and was so wet you could not pick it up under any circumstances. (Remember, it was supposed to be a sandwich.) It had so many chunks of fat that it was literally gross to eat and I spent part of my lunch using my fork to try to pick out all the pieces of fat. The guy serving the ribs from the truck had to use a giant knife and put most of his weight into the action of cutting the ribs because they were so tough, so I'm guessing the ribs were less than stellar as well. The sides were good. The mac and cheese could have been hotter, but the flavor and texture were good, and the coleslaw was very good. Because this is a BBQ truck (an unclean truck at that), I can't give more than one star considering the BBQ was so bad. I sincerely hope your experience is different . read more

The owner was super outgoing and friendly! The bbq was so good I used the sweet sauce I'm not a huge fan of heat and it was really good! It had a little kick to it. The coleslaw was great and the kids devoured their Mac and cheese! On top of all of that they are super affordable! read more

I can't tell you how many of my guests came up to us just to talk about how much they loved the food. Some of my guests even came up to talk about the food multiple times! We had the pulled chicken, pulled pork, smoked Mac, pit beans, coleslaw, and of course the burnt ends. Each and every menu item is to die for. The smoked Mac in cheese is so creamy, the smoked chicken is super moist, the pit beans and fantastic, the burnt ends are their star, the Cole slaw is so refreshing and the pulled pork is great on or off of a sandwich. My fiancé and I wanted the food at our wedding to stand out and my goodness did it! Each guest left full and happy! I'm still getting calls asking about the food! This company is so easy to work with and offers fantastic menu options. They were on time and served our 90 guests so quickly! I was worried there would be a line of guests but everyone was served quickly and only had to wait in like for a quick minute. I had the pleasure of feasting on the chopped chicken, the brisket and the macaroni and cheese today at the Southfield Town Center where the food truck was stationed. Everything was delicious and there wasnt a crumb left over from all of us who had lunch. The food is great, the BBQ sauces are very tasty and each have their own levels of heat. If we had to find something to gripe about it would be the lack of tops for the BBQ sauce containers (so we can save the leftover sauce for future eating endevours!!) We used Smoke Ring BBQ for our wedding 8/15/15. They were extremely easy to work with. We tried the food beforehand and LOVED everything. Standing in line we were able to chat with a lot of customers and all were regulars who had only positive things to say. They have a very active Facebook page so you can find where they are and try them out! Smoke Ring arrived on time for the wedding and served 160 people extremely quickly. I wanted the wedding guests to be able to go up to the food truck and get their food from the window and that's exactly what they did. What a great experience for all guests. excellent! tried this place when it was down at campus martius in detroit. the people are very friendly when you're placing your order, and they have some of the best barbecue around. i tried the pulled pork sandwich with their smoked mac and cheese, both were delicious! the pulled pork sandwich just comes on a regular bun and you can get containers of whatever kind of sauces you choose (they have mild, medium, and hot). i opted for the medium and hot sauces, and applied both to the sandwich for an amazing zesty kick! the mac and cheese was made with white cheese, and tasted like mac and cheese i would make at home. my boyfriend tried the ribs on a separate occasion and said they were the best ribs he has ever had. definitely don't be afraid to check this place out if you see them around! read more

Absolutely horrible. The truck and food were disgusting. I got the chopped chicken sandwich and the chicken was half black from charcoal. That's exactly what it tasted like - charcoal. I had two bites and threw it away. The side of cole slaw had some kind of spice that was incredibly overpowering I couldn't even try it. The mac'n cheese was less than average. The "truck" or should I say makeshift trailer, was not clean at all. This just makes me nervous that anyone can start a food truck these days. Where are the health inspectors? I received numerous compliments from our guests, including those who are big into smoking BBQ meats... We had ribs, beans, mac & cheese, cole slaw, pulled pork and brisket along with homemade BBQ sauces. They showed up right on time, brought everything needed, and our party was rolling in an instant.
