Awesome food and service! Miranda is a great server. The homemade soups are tasty and the beer is cold. Too bad it isn't patio season yet.

I don't know if he's the cook or the bartender or the manager. I had to pay $12 for a lousy little salad that was nothing but the spines of a romaine lettuce and 4 thin slices of cucumber. Nice decor but the food stinks

The server had the list that I had emailed in upon confirming the attendees. Reservation was for 6:30, we were all there between 6:20 and 6:30. We waited a substantial length of time for our drink orders to be taken. And it was almost 7:30 before our meals were brought out. We were not offered coffee and desserts did not arrive in time so some of our party had already left. When the bills came out, the majority were incorrect. Mine had my meal and the customer next to me. But prior to the bills coming out I needed to go find our server, which meant going to the bar area and asking if anyone knew where she was. We did not finish the payment process well as it took over 40 minutes for the server to re-do all of the bills. Really is disappointing as we had a lot of out of province guests as well as some from the States! Our dog club, Red River Terrier Association, does a lot of club events, but due to the bad service, we will not be using or recommending Gaffers!

The menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouthwatering starters and main courses that will appeal to everyone. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. The chefs use the best quality ingredients to produce dishes that are simply delightful. The restaurant also offers a wonderful drink menu as well. I'm pretty sure that we would return for another visit the next time we're in Winnipeg.

Greeting was very pleasant and they sat a group of 8 immediately. The waitperson was quite knowledgeable about local brews, and since I'm a local brew fan anywhere I go, opted for a double IPA that ended up being really good. Other folks had a single IPA, lagers, wine, etc. The menu is quite eclectic, with items ranging from the Filipino-infused Shanghai Lumpia, to soup and salad, to Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. I wasn't particularly hungry and I thought their "appetizer" menus would be small dishes, and treated ordering like tapas, asking for a small plate of lumpia and a small plate of chicken tenders.... Oh well.... I get an entire dinner plate of lumpia and a full basket of chicken tenders, French fries and vegetables.... I left stuffed. Service was superb. Even asking for separate checks for the entire party, our waitperson didn't flinch an eye. Superb service, great food and good company.

Located on the main drag, this cozy pub serves as one of the popular locations to grab a few drinks with your mates or dine in for a quick lunch with co-workers, and dinner with your family with more drinks in the evening. In the summer months they open up a small area on the sidewalk for your outdoor dining enjoyment. Right when you walk in, you have the bartender mixing drinks and tending to the few occupied stools at the counter and those playing darts. The hostess will gladly seat you at one of the tables along the windows or booths along the far wall in their restaurant "section". I use " " because the restaurant portion for this pub, for all ages, forms an L-shaped seating plan. The 18+ section is separated by a short black iron fence in the middle that holds a few more tables and larger booths. Sawney Beans is like any other pub with their weekday Pub Grub specials. One of the favorites is Tuesday for Pub Poutinerie Night - How Canadian of them ;) Another favorite are the Irish Nachos (Waffle fries, loaded with tomatoes, jalapenos, green onions and cheese with the option of adding chicken or beef for an extra charge) It's a small kitchen so they have a lunch menu that changes at 5pm for dinner. The lunch menu is small and not really British authentic but when i'm craving their delicious Chicken Quesadillas, this is the time to get them. Their dinner menu features more British Pub eating with titles like: - Bangers and Mash - Roast Beef dinner with Yorkshire Puddings - Shepherd's Pie - London's Burning Burger (ok not authentic but still yummy with a little heat) For a sweet tooth my favorite is: - Sticky Toffee Pudding with vanilla ice cream Another interesting option would be their deep fried Mars bar The bar serves up a variety of British ales as well as some domestic bottles. There's a decent wine list and a variety of British mixed cocktails and ciders. My personal favorite - Cider and Blackcurrent (Floundry Cider with a shot of Blackcurrent cordial) Two glasses in and I'm walking home feeling warm and tingly from my head to my toes! Steinbach, once a dry town, has succumbed to the British invasion and given the residents and surrounding communities a great place to eat and wet their whistles. The first time I went we were put in a booth that had higher wallsand I felt very claustrophobic. The second time I went I went with a group of 8 and felt like they could barely accommodate us. It was very tight. We barely fit. Go elsewhere if you are more than 4 people. The other thing is that the music can be pretty loud. But it is supposed to be a pub. So that can be expected. The food tastes good but with higher prices, I would rather go elsewhere where I don't feel like a sardine.
