Understaffed, with distant non-engaged nursing management. Instead of assisting units, barks orders and threatens.

I currently have 3 immediate family members in Shady Lawn Nursing Facility. Two of my family…read moremembers have been there since August 2017. In addition, I've had experiences with other skilled nursing facilities so I think my perspective is well encompassed and fair. It's difficult to relinquish the day-to-day-care & responsibility of your loved one & place he or she into a care facility! Shady Lawn offers a very comfortable and home-like center. The administration team is one of the best I've ever encountered. Kathy Conley, the Director of Admissions, has always been so helpful! She is extremely knowledgeable and proficient yet sympathetic to how I'm feeling as the person that has to make such emotional decisions. She draws from her own personal experiences & gets how difficult such decisions are. I can't forget to mention Susan & Alyssa at the front of the office that makes me feel like family every time I call and speak with them. I've always found the nurses and aide-staff to be more than accommodating and want to do their best as much as they can. I'm not saying I've never encountered any issues or concerns that I've had to bring to their attention. I've had a few, however, together with communications we've resolved any issues. In other facilities, things have been so much worse! Unfortunately, any resolution came at a high expenditure of my time and energy. I've had to be a bulldog and bark at my loudest to ever get any attention to our issues. This has never been the case at Shady-Lawn. I hope my review may help you make the best decision for your loved one. Maybe for short term placement, this may not be the place that fits for your loved one. Each facility has its own vibe and patient base. I just have a different viewpoint from the previous reviewers based upon different needs. They sounded more short term and for rehabilitation purposes. I'm speaking from long term placement. I do hope this helps in your search for the right place for your loved one. Best of luck! I ordinarily don't like to complain, but this time I'm going to I have been for a little over 13…read moremonths eight months ago. My insurance bought me an electric wheelchair well two days after I started cutting out like I would drive it stop and then it would start back up and then it would stop and I didn't complain about it to anybody because I thought well nobody gonna be able to do nothing so I just kept driving it and this nursing home does not have automatic and 99% of the people that go out to smoke are in wheelchairs they're always hitting their arms or their myself have had doors slamming into me had the doors cut my arms open and they always just made a joke of it while you're we're gonna put you in bubble and stuff like this is a facility that needs to have somebody that knows what they're doing to run this place or to even own this place, I don't ever remember the owners coming in here except before they bought it but it could be a nice place if somebody gave a crap about it they back on the AIDS. They cut back on the gets the right amount of care that they need we've had people fallen and breaking arms, breaking I fell and broke my four months five months ago and I don't know I just I want to get my wheelchair fixed because I cannot use a manual wheelchair. I have arthritis in my shoulders in my back my legs and the electric wheelchair was perfect for quit running. They said I didn't have a warranty because I used it all up. They come out one time and was messing with my wheelchair and that was it and they're saying I used my warranty up that's baloney. I'm gonna call my insurance company and I'm gonna find out just what's going on they told me that this wheelchair that I bought was brand new. It wasn't brand new when I got it. It had scratches on it and two days after I got it it was cutting out in and out, so it couldn't have been brand new and if they charged my insurance company for a brand new electric wheelchair, somebody got taken advantage of, and I'm the one that has to pay for the repercussions of them not doing what they're supposed to be doing. I love this the administrator the of nursing are awesome AIDS get worked to death. They have one aid per hall most of the time and they're constantly running and answering the are overworked and I for one wouldn't send I know to this place because of the the owners are treating don't care that they cut out half of the staff not living here and they're not the ones that's not getting the correct attention that they need and I make that if things don't get changed around and start being run right I'm gonna call somebody that knows what they're doing and I'm gonna get this thing gonna know the reason why so if you don't agree with me that's fine. I don't care. I'm tired of incompetent people and I'm tired of being beat up by these if they had automatic half of the people in here wouldn't have their wheelchairs all banged up or cut them cut up or whatever I wish the owners of this place would come here and live one night and do what we have to do because they would surely change the way things go around here if they had to live here, but evidently they don't care come here and make a I would love to talk to him. I would love to find out why they don't wanna give us the right care that we need the food. My God the food is awful once in a great we get a good meal, but not very often the are worked to death. They forget to put things on your but I don't mean to sound like a major complainer or whatever I just I'm 73 years old and I wanted my last be nice and comfortable, and I haven't been comfortable since I got here so if anybody that's in charge of this place can do anything about what I've complained about. I would appreciate it and if you can't that's OK I mean at least I got my point across and I hope somebody can help because in a couple days I'm gonna call my insurance company. I'm gonna find out if that wheelchair that they sold me was brand new because they told me it was and I don't think it was and I just I don't know I'm I'm at a loss for what to do, but I've got a voice and I'm not afraid to use it. People might be mad at me because of the things said on here, but if it's a shoe fits where
