I got two windows fitted earlier this month. Very bad service all the way. a) The sales person Luke promised everyone at Smiths are employees including window fitters. This was a big lie, the person who fitted my windows was a contractor/freelancer. b) The person who booked in my installation date over the phone was very unpolite and rude. It made me feel they just want to the job done not worrying whether it was OK with the customer. c) The windows fitter was very worst experience. Very rude,unprofessional and went on doing what he wanted to do, whenever I said something he would say its OK. He used the F word couple of times when I was showing the dirt on the windows. The windows supplied were atleast an inch small both sides, this fitter should have used properly packing foam but he said her forgot in his earlier job and just filled the big gaps with silicon. The windows are still very cold and sweaty all night. I strongly feel these windows have to be redone. NEVER EVERY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE....THEY LIE, ARE VERY RUDE AND UNPROFSSIONAL. read more

WISH I COULD RATE THEM ZERO!!! WISH I COULD RATE THEM ZERO!!!! Nothing but THIEVES who take advantage of pensioners!!!! My mother in law paid them £1000 deposit for the work to commence on 31st July, subject to planning permission. Having heard nothing from them, she waited patiently waited till 4th Sept then contacted planning to see the progress of the application only to find it hadn't even been submitted???? She then decided enough was enough and she wanted to go elsewhere! After phoning them they say they can't discuss it unless it's in an email or letter, all of which she has done numerous times. She even got the police around and they refused to talk to them??? She is 82 years old and all she wanted was a dining room she could move around in? She is now in the process of taking it to a small claims court. DO NOT waste your time or money on this so called company, who I'm sure must post a few of their own 5 star reviews!!!! Truly believe they make their money just collecting deposits of people then vanish or refuse to talk to them?? Do not be fooled by the gibberish of the salesman who will tell you they are far better than Everest and Anglian!! read more

Reported blown units in may 2018 for the second time, still not replaced under guarantee and yet again had day off work to wait for them for no one to turn up, nearly a 10 months waiting, they measured units wrong twice and now report that there yet another issue with the new unit, terrible service, communication and twice now have not called to say engineer is not going turn up, absolutely awful STEER CLEAR read more

Good job from smiths building our new conservatory, the workers were reliable & did a fantastic job

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I read some of the reviews for the company prior to contracting them to put a conservatory up and they were mixed and after meeting the sales person I felt more at ease. He confirmed we could start beginning of Jan and it would take 3 weeks all in. it took over 3 months to have it completed due to the fact that all the people working on the project were all sub-contractors and no one took overall ownership for the status of the work therefore every time we had someone working at our house when they left no one contacted us to let us know who was coming next and when. Even their team said the company was in trouble as they contracted to many projects and didn't have enough people to complete the works. My partner and I had to manage the whole process ourselves constantly calling, emailing and leaving messages to know when to expect people; we even took days off work to be home in order to give the team access and twice they never showed!! It has been a very stressful time and if I had known I would NEVER have done it. (Hindsight is a beautiful thing). 8th May when it was finally finished we agreed I would receive a call from the project manager to check we were happy...this did not happen. Then we received a letter in the post a week or so ago to say they have been trying to contact us. I called the number on the letter only to see they had given me the wrong one. So I called the sales office to get the right one and they said they couldn't put me through so gave me the number. I called the number provided 4 or 5 times - no voicemail so just had to keep trying. Today I get a call, whilst I am home recovering from surgery, from their legal department to say they were starting legal proceedings...I laughed...I think it's because I wanted to cry so naturally laughed instead. The shock!!!! I couldn't believe after all the trouble and being told I would get a call after to discuss the work and my satisfaction to then get this call today! I was trying to tell the gentleman who called what had happened and after feeling like he wasn't listen and continued to talk over me I hung up. Upset I called my partner for him to call them back as I was too upset to talk to them. He called to discuss what happened and to his surprise he was THREATENED by the same guy. Basically said we will send boys over to your house and I tell you when they get there it would be best to pay them!!!! WHAT???!!!! I am disgusted!!! I cannot believe it! Horrible experience. This has definitely not helped me with the faith I have in builders/contractors! Shame really as all in all once the work has been finished I am happy with the result - its just been so tiring and very stressful to get here! read more
