Laser tag is good, and it's fun to point the thingy at the targets and get points. You also get a piece of paper at the end with your rank and stats on it! Personally, I've been to many birthday parties there and the birthday person gets to go in this big yellow box and catch certificate prizes as they blow around in the box. Veteran's is a quick 15 minute drive from Providence, and they offer public skating for 5$ 7 days a…read moreweek at very convenient times. They also have public hockey and learn to skate programs. It's pretty basic, but they do have concessions, bleachers, and a pro shop. The pro shop did an excellent job of sharpening my skates (finished by hand!) and their rental skates looked nice and sturdy. It's a lot more fun to skate at an indoor rink than outdoor one. They're usually much larger, the ice is better taken care of, it's warmer and you can go year round. I also found indoor rinks easier to handle while I was learning. Be warned though- this rink seems to be really popular with the little ones. I've never seen so many milk crates on the ice at one time in my life! Sunday afternoon is probably not the best time to go. Still, I would much rather have to dodge peewees piloting milk crates than suffer the terrible ice and scads of teenagers loafing around aimlessly at Kennedy Plaza.

Getting checked out at the register the blonde woman working gave me a weird vibe and kind of yelled at me for my wrist band falling off with my glove which she insisted I take off for a stamp. I obviously was about to put it back on and she held it from me and made her put it on me. Whatever no big deal. Then as my friends are skating we get screamed at by this same lady who's standing on the ice now in boots to slow down. We laugh and look around at the kid she was yelling at and it was US! Mind you two of my friends can't even skate so I don't know what she was talking about. Will not go back.
