Despite advertising emergency service, and calling well within posted "business hours", after more than 24 hours I still have not had any response. This was the case for all three local locksmiths I called on a Saturday. My mom had a doorknob fail on a kitchen door between her back door and the main part of the house. This locked her out entirely. She is injured and preparing for surgery Monday, so it was particularly concerning to have her stuck outside. Ultimately, a friend was able to come by to remove the trim and get it open with a credit card for her. I moved to the state of Oregon 20 years ago, so my number is no longer a local area code. Despite calling for (and clearly noting) I needed help for a home in Toledo, perhaps this played a role? Or they could not come anytime soon and couldn't be bothered to just call to say as much? No idea. All I know is they not only did not have a prompt response, but I got no response whatsoever. Certainly, can't get behind that. Hope you do better than we did if you're ever in a bind. ------------------ Updated 5/8/22 to provide phone log photo as requested. Detailed message was left. Not sure what happened with their messages. Sometimes phones are just weird, it does totally happen in life. It sounds like it was a busy day for them. Of the locksmith options I found, I would still try calling them again - I didn't get ANY responses. So bizzarre. But based on my experience trying 3 local providers, all with good reviews; If you need someone ASAP - and especially if you have to leave messages - definitely call multiple companies to be sure someone calls back. And it sounds like calling again is smart if you are ever stuck waiting around without any responses. I haven't needed an emergency locksmith for 15 years, so this was certainly a reacquaintance/learning experience. I've learned something useful about how to best get in contact with one! Don't avoid this company because of this; just cast yourself a wide net of inquiries and then don't worry about calling them (or anyone else) again if you are in a more urgent situation and need help.

    UPDATE: Guardian…read moreAlarm reached out to me after I posted this review and agreed to work with me regarding my issue. I will give them credit that they did follow up and did offer some concessions. The issues I outlined below are accurate, but as compensation, they agreed to refund $113. This doesn't quite make me whole, but it is better than I expected. What the representative told me was that the manager should have offered to send out a tech to unlock my board and only charge me the $85 service fee for doing that. I still don't like the fact that the board was locked in the first place as that ties you to Guardian Alarm even if you paid for the system as I did. No matter what you weren't leaving their service without at least an $85 fee. They informed me that locking the board was for security. I believe if you are going to follow this practice that you should have some remote way of unlocking the board and just do it for customers who are choosing to leave. I still believe if a customer is choosing to leave and has fulfilled their contract and paid for their system they should be able to leave without any additional fees. As I wrote below I paid out $175 to change out the board, which was my only option at the time. By Guardian refunding me $113 I am only out about $62 above and beyond what I knew I would pay to change providers. While I wish that cost was $0 I can live with this and I give them credit for reaching out and initiating it. I was no longer a customer and they didn't need to do anything. It is not like I had any recourse. So I am updating my original review. ____________________________________________________ Be very careful before using these guys. I found their monthly monitoring service to be very expensive. I was no longer under contract with them so I tried to negotiate a lower rate. The only way they would lower my rate was by signing a new 3-year agreement. I decided to switch to another company for monitoring and that is when I ran into trouble. My new company discovered that Guardian Alarm had put a lockout on the mainboard so I could never switch to another company and then refused to give me the code to unlock the board! I was forced to pay an extra $175 to get a new board installed! They did this deliberately so I could not leave them. My system was paid for and I should have owned it and received this code. When I called and requested the code they gave me the runaround and tried to blame my installer. My installer even called Honeywell, who made the system and verified the board had been locked and there was no way in and the standard override code would not work. I actually listened on speakerphone when he talked to them so I know he was telling me the truth. This is a shady business practice and total B.S. I will NEVER do business with this company again.
