That's right -- not ONE, not TWO, not THREE, not FOUR, not FIVE, but SIX WEEKS. I could have gotten a default judgment. My understanding, although not a NJ lawyer, is that this case management failure is malpractice. Damages are obviously another issue, but a cut and dry case of malpractice nonetheless. 2) Fees: They quoted $1,500, took that amount as a retainer, and charged me another $1900 on top of that. The additional fee might be warranted for competent legal counsel, however please see points 1 and 3. 3) Client communication: They did not communicate that they would be billing me an additional amount. When I asked them a fairly simple question about whether I needed a form, they responded with "I don't know" and billed me $50 for the pleasure of having them read that email, $50 for them to research that answer of pure legal genius, and $50 for responding to my email. It was a question that they should have known. 4) Firing them: When I tried to tell them I didn't want them to represent me, they continued to contact me and bill me, again for this distinct pleasure. My husband's lawyer (Corinne M. DeStefano) did a much better job in a much more timely manner for a much better rate.

He escalated conflict, padded legal bills with excessive and unnecessary communications, and showed no interest in resolution--only financial exploitation. His behavior was not rooted in advocacy, but in weaponizing the legal system to harm. What makes this more painful is that I am a military veteran and a former law enforcement officer--serving in the very town where this law firm is located. I have devoted my life to service, integrity, and protecting others. Years ago, I even assisted this firm during a devastating fire, when they needed help. Despite my sacrifice, they chose to come after me without conscience--motivated only by money and personal gain. It was not just unethical; it was deeply personal and inhumane. Helping push this unethical case were Christina Cilli and her brother, both of whom knew from the start they had no legal standing. Yet they persisted, throwing money at a meritless case out of pride and entitlement. In the end, all their spending got them far less than what they could have had through fairness--and it left their own daughter and son emotionally abandoned and lost in the process. Also involved was Jay Kaplan, a used car salesman from Motion Kia, who lived with Christina during the case and actively supported her toxic behavior. His involvement contributed to the emotional damage inflicted and further destabilized an already broken situation. The most malicious figure was Daryl Cilli of Media, Pennsylvania--owner of NLTD Tennis and former owner of 160/90. He used his wealth like a weapon, purposefully trying to bury me under legal bills. He did so knowing exactly what kind of emotional and financial damage it would cause. His actions were immoral, unethical, and utterly heartless. In the midst of all this, there was only one voice of reason: Sharon Johnson of Johnson & Johnson Law Firm in NJ. Sharon showed the kind of character and strength that the others lacked. She communicated with honesty, showed unwavering compassion, and fought for me with true professionalism, even while we faced a system abused by the other side. She stood by me with integrity when it felt like the world was falling apart. If you want a strong, ethical, and genuinely compassionate attorney, I highly recommend Sharon Johnson. But if you value fairness, decency, or justice--stay far away from Mario Lomonaco and the firm of Laufer, Dalena, Jensen & Bradley. They betrayed not just legal ethics--but basic human decency. (At the time he had 70+ units). The phrase, Slumlord comes to mind. My 1-bed apartment in New Providence had holes in the floor, broken glass in the windows, broken kitchen sink and infestation of fleas when I moved in. It took pestering him for 3 months before any fixes were made. He and his son showed up one day to look around, and I distinctly remember his son saying "that's fine" when I showed him the big hole in the kitchen floor! At one point during the winter months, the super smelled gas and called PSEG. Turned out the furnace and exhaust was filthy and clogs and PSEG cut the gas to the building until it was fixed. We had no heat for days and only after another tenant called the state after 3 days with no heat did he drop off space heaters for us to use and get someone in to clean the furnace. I moved out after 1 year. This is my personal experience and may not be what other tenants experienced.

Overall, we are not sure if it was just a bad day for Grey or if it was his normal behavior, but we opt to find a new lawyer who would guide us in a manner less "Mobster" like.
