I would never use this company again, they do not return phone calls, they submitted my state taxes three times causing bank fees and state fees. Even after they messed that up they would not return my calls. I could only talk to a receptionist who could never answer questions. When I requested to talk to a tax pro denied over and over again. This is what lead to their filing my tax payment three times. My entire return was completed without even one phone call or in person meeting with a tax profesional. Their business model is flawed. Got my taxes done here for 3 years. Referred friends. This year, got my taxes done, and forgot to submit a paper. Most tax preparers would amend your taxes for a fee, possibly for free. Smith and Marion, on the other hand, will not return my e-mails or phone calls. Terrible service. You're better off at H and R block! read more

Too pricy for the tax service provided, I decided to try this company out of curiosity from years being with the same person to find out you pay more money for less service. I have never had to file my own tax return I pay a company to usually do that for me when I had to do it for the first time and made a very minor mistake the company took over six months to correct it and then charged me for the correction. They should've never charged a new client $150 to fix a mistake. I paid $600 for them to do a tax review I did all of the work on my end they reviewed it and they told me I had to file it. So I paid $600 for an hour of an interview and another $150 for them to correct a mistake that should've never been a mistake. I do not recommend going with this company. I made it very clear to them that I was uncomfortable filing my own taxes because I have never done so that is one of the main purposes I pay a CPA but didn't get the service I paid for. read more

I am a small business owner and at first was happy to work with the accountants. I am new to the practice of using an accounting service. After about a year of working with this group I had experienced a very busy staff. Some weeks I was told that I could speak with my assigned accountant the following week. After waiting patiently for a week and sending a few emails I was ignored. When I did call I spoke with various people in the office about my bill. At the end of the year I was told there could be no more work done on my account until I was paid in full. So I made the payment and was told that I could have my account reconciled by the end of January. January deadline came and went. I was then told I had more documents to send. Once I went through the documents I noticed I had already set aside them and sent them to them. Thus wasting my time not to mention losing my copied document. One time my documents were tampered with at the post office. Luckily they were all there. Finally once I had been ignored for over a week both via phone calls and emails. I called. I gave them a chance to speak and then the person I was waiting to speak with had put another lady on the phone without an introduction. At one point I said god dam it out of frustration. At that point they took it upon them self that I was now using foul language and would not even speak to me in at all. I then attempted about another 10 times only to be told they could not speak to me about the original bill. I then got a call and email from the owner saying they would report me to the authorities if I called the office anymore. They dropped me as a client "I expected that because It just wasn't working out in terms of communication" They also said I would receive all my originals back that I was missing. They now do not have my originals from the beginning of the year. I have never had a worse experience where a firm charges me 160 an hour for reconciling accounts. I was told and have checked that this price is very high. I agreed to pay but to be treated rudely and ignored is unacceptable. I told the owner I would be leaving a review on here and I hope that in the future they see through the words and attitude and attempt to reconcile even an inkling of understanding. In the end the explanation for the 950 dollar bill was two very separate accounts. If I was to pay them I would be paying close to 2K for a small business accounting with no explanation and late responses. My recommendation is to not use this company at all. read more
