We had steak, shrimp and salad bar, and it was all very good and not overpriced. I was very impressed with our young waitress. She was friendly, personable and fast. I'm guessing it might have been the owner who came to our table later to see how everything was, and she also seemed very genuine. I would definitely come back here.

I heard from the Mayor of Luray @Stephanie Lillard. (Woot, woot...name dropping) that Taste of Home on Main Street just opened two weeks ago! This place blew me away. I was greeted by a college girl who is going into her senior year at JMU (graduating with a marketing degree and wants to work in the community). I tell you this because I didn't get her name...but I would hire her in less than 1 minute. She is a great employee!!! I sat at the bar so I heard the entire conversation she had as she was navigating a new point-of-sale system and she opened the restaurant by herself for the first time that morning! Super diligent young lady. I have forgotten what it's like to see a young person with true drive and a "get it done" attitude! OK, OK, on with the review. The ambience was quaint. Yet, this place could hold a good size crowd. I really enjoyed sitting at the bar and meeting a few other single eaters. It was a great option. The menu is simple. I might even suggest adding a few items to bolster it up a bit. That said, I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on toasted wheat bread, with a side of bacon and a hot coffee.. So, I know you're asking why would you write a review on such a simple breakfast? Well, my answer is all in the sausage! It was a beautiful Patty that tasted like it came from a local farm that morning! It was cooked perfectly and served on butter toast with the perfect runny fried egg and melted American cheese. The bacon was crisp and the coffee was hot and kept coming. It felt like I was starting my day off right! This Restaurant is going to make it. I hope they keep up the good work and realize what a good team they have in place. They could also raise their prices a bit....who says that! My breakfast Sandwich was $7. It was so good, the guy (from Glouchester, England) sitting next to me ordered the exact same thing!!! Of course, I bought him breakfast. I wanted him to love Main Street America as much as I do! Five stars!!!

I've stood in long lines and paid a lot more for locally loved, (non-tourist-y), cheesesteak spots in Philadelphia that can't hold a daggone candle to this spot in lil' ole semi rural VA. Just a fantastic cheesesteak. Get it with everything. Fantastic bread. I got the seeded. It was perfection. The bread was warm & toasty with the right amount of fillings, whereas somehow the sandwich held together & didn't fall apart upon biting it. Gotta have a functional sang which! Clean place. Clean bathrooms. Most importantly, the owner seems to care.
