I am SO impressed with this vet. I had a few bad experiences with our vet. (black Oak Vet. In Garden Valley) and needed my puppies to be seen right away. They were booked but they squeezed us in. They were super friendly and our apt was in and out. No crazy parking and call the front desk and they'll come out covid garbage. We were able to go right in, and there was 0 wait. It took longer to drive there than our apt. Took. I will be moving all my animals to this vet. Oh! And last but not least they were super affordable which was just the icing on the cake! You won't go wrong going to Them!

They wanted to do x-rays and a couple of shots that was nearly $500. I'm a senior on fixed income and I said I didn't have the money. Would they be willing to take payments? and they said no, so I had to leave with my dog, not feeling well. as the weeks went by. I was trying to get my dog help elsewhere that possibly would take payments. I could not get a credit card. I'm maxed on credit cards so last week I called the vet because he was panting and I could see he was getting worse and wanted a price on what it would cost for Dr. Robinson to put lil Rue down. She put me on hold came back and said it was probably his trachea because Chihuahuas get that and that cough and everything was causing it to spasm so come by pick up a prescription to relax his trach I told them it wasn't. He wasn't coughing or gagging anymore. He was breathing really bad but I picked up the pills went home. He never got better. I called the office. It was nearly closing time at 5:30 on a Friday I told the girl he was not getting any better. She said "Well it's not a miracle pill". I said I realize that, she said she would have the vet call me so Randy the Vet he did call me back as I told him what was going on and he knew Rudy heart murmur being like a five out of six he said it was probably his heart keep him comfortable and he'd see him on Monday for free. Well Rudy suffered for another five hours before he gasped for air rasping trying to catch his breath, and passed in my arms. I've left a couple messages on him getting bad finally I called him back and said he had passed away and left on their message. Well, it is a week later and I have not heard a call saying they were sorry to hear about Rudy or anything just to call and acknowledge would've been a good thing but they didn't. I found that unbelievable and harsh. I would never take another animal. I get back to that office.

But, I question the financial ethics of this establishment. Also, because I'm here, I will mention that the receptionist was cold and rude. I thought I was just being sensitive but my partner independently commented on it later. I came out sobbing and she shoved some papers at me and walked away. In that stack of papers was a DRN. I really hope most pet parents get some kind of warning or verbal preparation that they are about to have to sign an invoice and also make a decision about whether their pet gets resuscitated or not. That was truly foul. Now, I understand ER vet care is costly. I understand that it is not the fault of the staff that systemically there is a problem with the price of vet care. But, if you participate in the practice of upcharging people in their most vulnerable moments then you are behaving unethically. I am now in more than $5,000 worth of debt from one visit. My dog needed fluids and antibiotics. So, yep, I went from just having gotten out from under credit card debt through debt consolidation and hard work to a crushing 5K worth of debt in one day. Because she needed intravenous fluids and broad spectrum antibiotics. That's all she needed. In the moment I said yes to every single thing on the invoice they presented me with. But, now, that my dog is not potentially dying from dehydration/vomiting in front of me, I can confidently say not all of those interventions were needed. They could have started with fluids and antibiotics and went from there. I already had labs, an ultra-sound and health data on her status from my regular vet from that day. But, we had to re-do all of that. Did we though? Was it necessary? I don't believe so. I was told my bill would be from 12-20k if she needed surgery. If that had been the case I would not have been able to pay for it. Our pets are going to die because the cost of vet care has gotten so out of hand. These prices are predatory.

We took him to our vet and got him tested for cancer, got an RX for some antibiotics and other anti nausea meds but the doggy had not been eating at all so it was tough AF. On New Years Day he was not doing well at all so we made the decision to visit here. It was traumatic for us since he rapidly declined and the cancer diagnosis was still pending. The took him back and said his lymph nodes were enlarged and the mass in his chest was concerning (that's what was tested by the other vet). They told us that taking him in for 49-72 hr observation plus the tests that they would recommend would be around $5500. But, they advised they would do the exact same tests the other vet did a few days earlier and it would still take some time to get the results. Nevertheless, we weighed our options and only paid for the consultation & they obliged it was likely the best call and supported our decision. The pup actually ate some food and drank some water while we were there so it was a welcomed surprise. A few days later on the 5th our vet gave us the diagnosis of lymphoma which crushed us...however, without getting some reinforcement on our decisions from the VCA we would have been pretty bad off tbh. We appreciate their honesty and assistance. The doggy is still with us but he is slowing down so it will be time eventually. Hug your animals folks!

They are always very patient, understanding and encouraging. Not only that - but they don't try and empty your bank account in your time of need. Some vets will try and sell you on some ridiculously over-priced "plan" before haggling to something more reasonable. Not here. They've diligently worked with me for months on a tricky skin issue which we finally have gotten under control. One time he had gotten bit in his face and there was no way I could bring him into the office without total chaos. They were very creative and drew up a plan with me to sedate him in the car and then take him in. They drained and cleaned his wound. Even with sedation, emergency visit and the special circumstances, I walked away spending a few hundred (versus what I'd expect would be closer to 1k+ elsewhere). Because my pupper is SO difficult at the vet, I've been to *dozens* of vets in EDC and Sacramento county. This is, hands down, one of the best I've visited. Strongly recommend!!!

We found several but when I explained our situation nobody would take us in. Pollock Pines Veterinary was the only one that said to bring him in. The break was so severe that it required surgery and unfortunately the surgeon would not be available for at least 3 days. We were able to keep him comfortable with medication given and it almost seemed like he didn't even mind hobbling around with his broken leg on a splint. The ladies that run this facility made every effort to contact every and any other vet hospital from Reno to Sacramento that could attend to him sooner. No one was available for several days. We finished our trip with my boy all busted up but in amazingly good spirits. We were finally referred to a specialist in Sacramento that was able to surgically repair his injury.
