Our experience is we were seated waitress got our order of three orange juices and two coffees . Juice showed up had to ask three waitress after 25 minutes for our coffees then took them 10 minutes to bring the creamer and our food order had no been put in to make. We arrived at 6:30 and were not served ANYTHING but water until 7:15. 45 minutes with nothing, no snacks, no bread, nothing. And nobody even stopped to ask if we needed anything until about 7:10. When the food arrived, it was warm (barely), not hot and very watery. My husband had tacos and beans and rice (beans and rice were swimming in liquid), I had an enchillada and beans and rice. I'm a local who loves the food here. However, like many other places, since Covid - they are extremely short staffed. Went to eat here on Saturday 3/29/25 after avoiding this place for over a year. Every single time we've gone here you are promptly seated but, the food takes over an hour to arrive. The food is good but, takes way too long. Pack your patience if you're coming here. This place needs to stop taking tables if they can't serve them in a timely manner or at least warn patrons that you will be waiting over an hour for your food to arrive. To be fair, they have a sign up that they are short staffed. But, who wants to wait over an hour for food? Just take few tables that you can reasonably serve. read more

We stumbled on this place and boy are we glad we did. I had the Breakfast enchilada plate with both red and green salsas; the red was good, but the green was spectacular. My partner had the breakfast burrito, which was huge and full of bacon (her meat choice). We were driving north on a road trip and were getting out of our car at Smiling Faces restaurant and a lady approached us directly asked us if we were with the graduation. We said no. Then she said in the most snide voice possible, "then we are closed; you can come back tomorrow if you want." Then she walked away. I can understand closing for a private party but she didn't have to be so rude about it. We drove one mile north and went to Dave's Diner and it was excellent! I'm baffled by the negative reviews for this place. I went there with a couple of others on our way to the Montezuma hot spring about a year ago, and we loved it. I'm not religious at all, but was still not at all put off by the Christian figurines. A little weird, but hey I'm from Austin, so I love all things weird. Let's talk food. Between me, my boyfriend, and our friend, we were all satisfied with what we each ordered. Everything was great, but just needed a little salt, which I am okay with. I can appreciate a restaurant that allows you to vary the salt level on your food yourself. Salsa was fresh and yummy, chips were good. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, which were excellent. Again, just needed to add a bit of salt. My boyfriend ordered the green chili, which he seemed to love. He is a guy that eats a good bit of spicy food, and he said the spice level was on point. Overall, a great experience! I'd go back, and I'd definitely recommend it to others. We were actually surprised there were so few people there. read more

So I have never eaten at the restaurant before and did not know what to expect with a business name called Smiling Faces. When walking in you are created with tons of decor of smiling faces. The waitress took us to our table in the back and we were right next to a bunch of angels that was a little weird, I thought we were going to a Mexican restaurant? The waitress got our drink order and brought us some ships and salsa which was quick. We waited a while to get our order put in which was just a taco plate with some french fries. The place only had about 10 people and our order took about 30 min just for 2 tacos. The taco shell itself was perfect but the meat was flavorless and only tasted like cheese. The salsa was homemade and was really good. I don't know if I will go back again just because of the decorations and especially how long it took to get our food. read more

This restaurant has gone done hill. Terrible service and customer service. Ordered an ice tea to drink and then realized there was a fly in the cup. Once we brought to the waitresses attention she was very unprofessional about it. I told her we aren't going to pay for the drink and she came back with "you drank the first glass oh my it's just a fly" I was like yeah in my drink! My concern was that other people in the restaurant were drinking ice tea from the same pitcher ours came from. We will for sure avoid this place for now on and not just because of the fly but the comment about the fly and unprofessioalism of the staff. read more

On the way out I explained my story to what seemed to be the owner/ manager. She shared with me that the Heath inspector tells them that they are the cleanest place In town. This is a Christian driven family that runs the place that are strong in their faith which was impressive. And the food was AWESOME. We had the Navaho taco green chili (basically a pizza with green chili) was huge. For such a reasonable price which my wife and I could split. Was so good and delicious.
