She always asks if I need any numbing gel before my cleaning so that I'm comfortable and pain free. She's also a master at removing coffee stains from my pearly whites! I'm really torn about this, as I like all the dentists and the hygienist, April, is super cool, but I've had some frustrations with the administrative side of this dental office. I've put off getting my wisdom teeth pulled out for nearly a decade and they got outta control. The pain was so bad I finally dragged my swollen mouth in. The first thing Dr. Rolfes said to me was, "Now what's a nice, cute girl like you doing running around with an infected, pus-y tooth?" That totally cracked me up and kept me from freaking out in the chair. He took it out immediately, no pain and very little to no discomfort. I was sold. He's extremely capable and I trust his skills completely and that's coming from a huge dentist-phobe. After the wisdom teeth debacle, I got a consultation and discovered that I needed close to $8,000 worth of dental work, yikes. All four wisdom teeth extractions, three porcelain crowns, etc. I was stunned. With insurance, my out-of-pocket costs came close to $4,000 and that really worried me and I sat down with the dental office staff to go over my payment options, so I assumed they realized that I wasn't some rich kid who could blow thousands, no biggie. Luckily, I was able to finance most of it through work. So when I went into the dentist a few weeks ago to get two fillings, I was surprised when the office receptionist handed me a bill for $300. Apparently I had used up all my available insurance for the year, something they conveniently forgot to tell me prior to making the appointment. They had also scheduled me for oral surgery, knowing that I would have to pay out of pocket for it, another $1,200! I was told, "Oh, we gave you the cost list way back when, we thought you knew." Yeah, I got this list of figures and dental jargon I didn't really understand back in November, more than 6 months ago, how am I supposed to remember all that? I've already spent in excess of $3,000 out of my own pocket the last 6 months and you try to tack on another $1,200? I was miffed because I felt they were just trying to milk me when the whole time they could have totally put off the oral surgery (for my two other wisdom teeth) until my insurance kicks back in in six months! And when I bluntly said that I couldnt' afford it, the attitude was like, "Oh, you can't?" Also, after my two extractions with Dr. Rolfes, I was transferred to a different dentist (who is also great, but it felt like an abrupt switcharoo) and I haven't seen Dr. Rolfes since. Two times out of three whenever I have an appointment, I would get a call from the dental office asking me to switch the times around, kind of a drag. And the times I've had to reschedule or was too tired from working late the night before, they weren't very accommodating, instead wheedling me to come in anyway. I'm looking for another dentist with a staff who's a bit more caring and understanding of their patient's cost-conscious needs. read more

LOVE the vibe in this place. From a nervous nellie who does not like someone working on your teeth this place will make you feel at home. My family has been coming here for many years on the advice of a previous Doctor who retired and we couldn't be happier. My husband has had extensive work done over the years and his teeth couldn't be better taken care of and my son has been coming since he was little. We have seen all the dentists in the office but I mostly go to Dr. Rolfus who's calm demeanor is what I need to get through my appointment because I have such anxiety when it comes to dental work. He is professional, calming and very efficient in what he does along with his attentive assistants and staff. Karen has been cleaning my teeth for years and does an excellent job and Vicky and Paige up front are always great to see and very helpful with any insurance/payment or appointments you may need. Soon our insurance will be ending which concerns me but we have had very good care over the years and have kept up with our cleanings and any work that needed to be done so I am hoping that with continued preventative care whatever comes up will be doable. It is really hard to find a dentist that cares. I am so happy to have found Dr. Tim Rolfes after my long time dentist retired. Dr. Rolfes was a very straightforward professional who told me just what I needed, not what he thought would get him more business from me. I really appreciate that for him, he really puts his patients first. My first meeting with him, he sat me down for over 30 minutes and explained all the things he saw when he examined me. Dr. Tim Rolfes is the newest addition to this dental team, and yesterday I went in on an emergency for a toothache I had had all weekend. Dr. Tim zeroed right in on the source of the problem ( I was not able to pinpoint the exact tooth) and explained I would need a root canal. There wasn't an opening until the next day, so he offered to begin the procedure to get me out of pain. I was terrified, but he did an excellent job of keeping me completely comfortable and worked efficiently and carefully to complete the procedure. He gave me very specific post operative instructions, and a prescription. When the anesthetic wore off, I was amazed to discover the pain was gone! Dr. Dunne will be completing the root canal today, but many thanks to Dr. Tim Rolfes and his assistant Ele for their competent, gentle care, and my pain free good night's sleep! read more

I have been going to Dr. Rolfes for five years now, and I couldn't be happier. The atmosphere is like Cheers - everybody knows your name! You don't need to sign in when you arrive, as the entire staff makes it a point to know you. Dr. Rolfes has the steadiest hands I have ever seen. When he has to give me a shot, I do not even feel the needle. What I really like about Dr. Rolfes, though, is that he stays current on all of the new trends, issues and discoveries in the dentistry world. I also enjoy that he is concerned with my long-term overall dental health, and gives me advice on how to keep my teeth and gums as healthy as possible. The real test Dr. Rolfes passed with flying colors....my then 8-year-old son was scared to death of the dentist. We had taken him to multiple pediatric dentists. One dentist had three assistants hold him down in the chair, while another dentist had to schedule an anesthesiologist before she would work on him. Trying everything I could, I thought, "What have I got to lose?" and took him to Dr. Rolfes. The bedside manner shown by Dr. Rolfes in that first visit is something I will never forget. He spoke calmly and soothingly to my son, and talked to him for a good ten minutes before any dental work was even started. I could see my child start to visibly relax and start to calm down. The dental work was performed with not even one scream from my son, which was something I never thought I would see. That, in itself, made me a life-long patient. read more

Jaw dropping! I have just about given up hope to find a cure for my tinnitus. My "ringing" just came up in conversation while at Dr. Dunne's office. After a brief discussion about possible connections of tinnitus, jawbones, muscles and clenching, a Night-guard was recommended and quickly fitted. Dr. Do and every person I come in contact with at this office is amazing! This is a very kid-friendly office. I was very concerned how my 2 year old son (now 3 years old) was going to take going to the dentist. Dr. Do and her staff are all super friendly and great with kids. On my son's first visit, their focus was just to get him comfortable with being in the chair and the equipment. They let him ride in the chair up and down, pick out his animal toothbrush, flavored toothpaste, and of course pick out of the treasure box. Now my son on his 3rd visit could not wait to go see Dr. Do. He said ,"Please can we go see Dr. Do." They have gotten my rambunctious 3 year old to get x-rays and a full on teeth cleaning. I have visited many dentists over the years, a result of moving so often. Dr. Rolfes and his team are by far, the best dental practice I have been to ever! Why? 1) Professional and knowledgable: Dr. Rolfes and his team are friendly, well-versed in the dental world and always have practical suggestions that are easy-to-implement, whether it is choosing the right toothpaste for you, showing you floss that is easy to use with permanent retainers or giving you chapstick because your lips are dry! The small details matter and in this they greatly exceed all expectations. 2) Focus on long-term health: Some recommendations may seem hard to choke down at first due to initial cost. However, you can trust that Dr. Rolfes and his team have your best interest in mind. For example, they suggested time and time again that I get a mouthguard to wear at night to preserve my bite (I am a clencher). After having excruciating jaw pain for 2 weeks as a result of all that clenching changing my bite drastically, I decided to take the plunge. The price tag was well worth it as I am now pain-free and will not have long-term jaw problems since I am resolving the issue now. Plus, the cost of the mouthguard is almost certainly cheaper than the repair work I would have had to do 5-10 years in the future, had I not purchased a mouthguard. While dental work can be very costly, Dr. Rolfes and his team never recommend something that is unnecessary and even then, they do not push you to do it until you are ready. 3) Customized dental care: I am amazed at the personal attention and custom care that Dr. Rolfes and his team deliver appointment after appointment. For example, I am very bad with needles and tend to pass out, even for the finger poke. So novocaine to the mouth prior to oral surgery tends to complicate things for me instead of relieve them. Dr. Rolfes used a different machine to numb my mouth (no needles) and then burned away part of my gum tissue. The procedure was still almost pain-free and was faint-free! Most doctors do not take my needle phobia (if you want to call it that) seriously, and I appreciated that Dr. Rolfes did. Another example has to do with my sister, who also sees Dr. Rolfes. She is chronically ill and has a severe pain disease that presents all sorts of complications when it comes to dental work. Time and time again, Dr. Rolfes caters to her needs and customizes her dental appointments. Most of the time, this means putting her under, which he is able to do (not all dentists are). I know my sister would not trust anyone else with her dental work. I would highly recommend Dr. Rolfes and his team to everyone (I already give their name out to friends and family!).
