He expressed concern for me walking around with a badly broken tooth, MADE room in his schedule that afternoon, and helped to outline an extensive treatment plan to fix my issues. Dr. Rolfes always takes great care of my teeth. My cleanings go very smoothly, I have extremely sensitive teeth and I love that is requested, the hygienist will add an extra numbing cream on my teeth to make sure I am comfortable during the cleaning. They really dig in there to make sure your smile is perfectly clean so I appreciate the extra comfort. Dr. Rolfes has always been a very honest dentist and recommends the best treatment to keep my teeth healthy. Here's a novel on my awesome Smiles4OC experience...:-) I have been to several dental offices in the past and have had many terrible experiences when it comes to my dental care. After following Susie's recommendation to make an appointment, I'm happy to say I think I've finally found what I've been looking for in a dental office! Every interaction during my visit was not only positive, but reassuring, which truly helped me overcome my fears and follow through with my check-up and cleaning. Dr. Dunne and Nicole were most thorough with my exam, explaining each step and giving individual focused care, Karen took her time to get my smile pretty and white again with my cleaning, and both Vicky and Gail provided excellent support and professionalism from the time I came in to the end of my visit. In summary, my visit to Smiles4OC surpassed expectations. For once, I'm not only not afraid to go to the dentist, but actually welcome the thought of visiting again in 6 months! Dr. Tim Rolfes is the newest addition to this dental team, and yesterday I went in on an emergency for a toothache I had had all weekend. Dr. Tim zeroed right in on the source of the problem ( I was not able to pinpoint the exact tooth) and explained I would need a root canal. There wasn't an opening until the next day, so he offered to begin the procedure to get me out of pain. I was terrified, but he did an excellent job of keeping me completely comfortable and worked efficiently and carefully to complete the procedure. He gave me very specific post operative instructions, and a prescription. When the anesthetic wore off, I was amazed to discover the pain was gone! Dr. Dunne will be completing the root canal today, but many thanks to Dr. Tim Rolfes and his assistant Ele for their competent, gentle care, and my pain free good night's sleep! read more

Dr. Rolfes has been taking care of me and my family for several years now. He is probably the 5th dentist I have used over the decades and is by far the best. His office has all the latest technology, he is super-current with the new techniques, and his team is the happiest and most accommodating front-office group I have ever dealt with. No oral health problem we have ever brought him has been too large or too small for his assistance, and he has squeezed us in same or next day whenever we had an emergency. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, friendly and caring staff, on top of state-of-the-art equipment, this is the dental office for you. I have been going to Dr. Rolfes for five years now, and I couldn't be happier. The atmosphere is like Cheers - everybody knows your name! You don't need to sign in when you arrive, as the entire staff makes it a point to know you. Dr. Rolfes has the steadiest hands I have ever seen. When he has to give me a shot, I do not even feel the needle. What I really like about Dr. Rolfes, though, is that he stays current on all of the new trends, issues and discoveries in the dentistry world. I also enjoy that he is concerned with my long-term overall dental health, and gives me advice on how to keep my teeth and gums as healthy as possible. The real test Dr. Rolfes passed with flying colors....my then 8-year-old son was scared to death of the dentist. We had taken him to multiple pediatric dentists. One dentist had three assistants hold him down in the chair, while another dentist had to schedule an anesthesiologist before she would work on him. Trying everything I could, I thought, "What have I got to lose?" and took him to Dr. Rolfes. The bedside manner shown by Dr. Rolfes in that first visit is something I will never forget. He spoke calmly and soothingly to my son, and talked to him for a good ten minutes before any dental work was even started. I could see my child start to visibly relax and start to calm down. The dental work was performed with not even one scream from my son, which was something I never thought I would see. That, in itself, made me a life-long patient. read more

I have been coming to them for all my dental services for years. They've consistently been organized, thorough, and caring. All the dental hygienists are wonderful but today I had Michelle; she was so warm and friendly. Their surgeons and dentists are all amazing as well. I saw Dr Rolfes today and he always has such a positive and compassionate vibe. Never makes you feel guilty and always praises you for taking care of your teeth, even if they're far from perfect (like mine). When I was 18 and had my wisdom teeth pulled the whole office and my surgeon (I can't remember his name) were extremely gracious and supportive, even though my nerves made me a bit of a brat. Dr. Do and every person I come in contact with at this office is amazing! This is a very kid-friendly office. I was very concerned how my 2 year old son (now 3 years old) was going to take going to the dentist. Dr. Do and her staff are all super friendly and great with kids. On my son's first visit, their focus was just to get him comfortable with being in the chair and the equipment. They let him ride in the chair up and down, pick out his animal toothbrush, flavored toothpaste, and of course pick out of the treasure box. Now my son on his 3rd visit could not wait to go see Dr. Do. He said ,"Please can we go see Dr. Do." They have gotten my rambunctious 3 year old to get x-rays and a full on teeth cleaning. I am really impressed with what they have been able to get son to do. I really believe everyone one in the office goes above and beyond to make our visits a wonderful experience. I went to see the dentists in this office first for my granddaughters a year ago. The office staff was kind and answered all of our questions without hesitation. Dr. Do did an amazing job of not only taking care of their teeth, but giving them their first positive experience at the dentist office. I then needed a root canal :-(( Dr. Dunne had to deal with my anxiety and get the work done - which he certainly did!! Everyone in the office is friendly and remembers your name. I have decided to continue with this office of professionals since I've been treated with such caring and concern. I have visited many dentists over the years, a result of moving so often. Dr. Rolfes and his team are by far, the best dental practice I have been to ever! Why? 1) Professional and knowledgable: Dr. Rolfes and his team are friendly, well-versed in the dental world and always have practical suggestions that are easy-to-implement, whether it is choosing the right toothpaste for you, showing you floss that is easy to use with permanent retainers or giving you chapstick because your lips are dry! The small details matter and in this they greatly exceed all expectations. 2) Focus on long-term health: Some recommendations may seem hard to choke down at first due to initial cost. However, you can trust that Dr. Rolfes and his team have your best interest in mind. For example, they suggested time and time again that I get a mouthguard to wear at night to preserve my bite (I am a clencher). After having excruciating jaw pain for 2 weeks as a result of all that clenching changing my bite drastically, I decided to take the plunge. The price tag was well worth it as I am now pain-free and will not have long-term jaw problems since I am resolving the issue now. Plus, the cost of the mouthguard is almost certainly cheaper than the repair work I would have had to do 5-10 years in the future, had I not purchased a mouthguard. While dental work can be very costly, Dr. Rolfes and his team never recommend something that is unnecessary and even then, they do not push you to do it until you are ready. 3) Customized dental care: I am amazed at the personal attention and custom care that Dr. Rolfes and his team deliver appointment after appointment. For example, I am very bad with needles and tend to pass out, even for the finger poke. So novocaine to the mouth prior to oral surgery tends to complicate things for me instead of relieve them. Dr. Rolfes used a different machine to numb my mouth (no needles) and then burned away part of my gum tissue. The procedure was still almost pain-free and was faint-free! Most doctors do not take my needle phobia (if you want to call it that) seriously, and I appreciated that Dr. Rolfes did. Another example has to do with my sister, who also sees Dr. Rolfes. She is chronically ill and has a severe pain disease that presents all sorts of complications when it comes to dental work. Time and time again, Dr. Rolfes caters to her needs and customizes her dental appointments. Most of the time, this means putting her under, which he is able to do (not all dentists are). I know my sister would not trust anyone else with her dental work. I would highly recommend Dr. Rolfes and his team to everyone (I already give their name out to friends and family!). I have been a patient at this office for many years now and have always had a very positive experience. I have seen all three of the Drs at the office (Dr. Rolfes, Dunne, and Do) and really like them. Most recently Dr. Dunne made me a crown and I didnt feel a thing and he was very quick. Last thursday he put in my new tooth and it looked and felt great, I cant even tell which one it was now. He also gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him any time if anything started to hurt, I haven't had to use it. Dr. Dunne also got me this super strong bleach that I started to use over the weekend at night and within 2 days I could see a difference which is crazy to me. Smiles 4 OC has the best and most honest Dentists, hygienists, and staff in Orange County. I had work done from other dentist in Orange County prior to my visit with Dr. Do at Smiles 4 OC. The last Dentist I saw before meeting Dr. Do told me I had a cavity (my first cavity ever) and proceeded to prep for a filling immediately. This concerned me since I had not noticed any issues with the health of my teeth. I told the Dentist to stop what he was doing and that I wanted a second opinion. He told me not to be foolish and let him "fix" my tooth before the decay got worse. I was refereed to Dr. Do by a loved one and was instantly put to relief that I did not in fact have any cavities at all. Unfortunately, it is common for Dentists to lie about dental issues to make a quick buck. This is not the case with the professionals at Smiles 4 OC. They utilize the most sophisticated technology and techniques in dental practice to date. The staff is extremely friendly and the office invites a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere incorporating visual aids at each station so that their patients can see the work being performed during each visit clearing any question as to where any problem areas may exist. Dr. Do fit me with Invisalign braces upon my request and I could not be happier with the results! I now have a perfect smile! This is the only Dental Practice I would ever refer to my friends and family knowing that they are in great hands. read more

We did it, all went great with Dr Do of Smiles4OC in Costa Mesa- my OB and lactation consultant both referred us to dental practices in San Bernadino or Carlsbad for laser tie revision surgery. Our newborn had a fourth degree frenum palate... when I called Dr. Do's office to ask if the procedure was a specialty I was surprised to hear it was. I asked why others were not aware of her practice and her specialty in tie revisions and she said its all word of mouth. That she doesn't have time for marketing. Dr. Do was a student of Dr Jesse and worked under him in his office for many years. I told her our newborn wasn't used to being in the car and how driving an hour for surgery and then undergoing the procedure sounded like a lot of unecessary crying and trauma. She offered that I send a picture of our newborns mouth so she could be sure she understood what needed to be done, and literally replied to my email within minutes. I am so impressed with her. She explained that her 3 month old son had a tongue tie that she herself did the revision for! We set the appointment for the following day at noon. She was so patient and answered questions thoroughly and thoughtfully about her choice of lazer (water instead of heat/diode) and her choice of anesthetic- fast acting topical gel. She believes in no medication afterward and so far we are just past 24 hours in with multiple feedings complete and all is great. Would love to spread the word so moms with latch issues and their newborns don't have to go sooooo far for treatment. Also she was extremely reasonably priced... Dr. Khoury of Carlsbad charges $700 for the same procedure and both Dr. Jesse of San Bernadino and Dr. Do charge $450. Our newborn is not used to the car and screams when put in her car seat, driving over an hour for a specialist was out of the question. We were in and out of the dentist chair in under 8 minutes. Everyone in the office was more than helpful and although there was a line out front when they saw us with a fussy newborn they told us to go right into an consultation office. I would highly recommend this practice to any new mom, or anyone looking for a very caring dental environment. read more

By far my favorite dental practice. Dr. Rolfes made me feel comfortable in his office. The staff is courteous and professional. All options were explained clearly and no drive was made to decide immediately. I'd definitely recommend to friends and family. My schedule is not always the easiest to work around but they are more than accommodating, and make my appointments quick and easy. Everyone on your staff is friendly and professional. I also love that I can be put to sleep using IV sedation for bigger procedures. It is so nice to simply go to sleep and then wake up with all of my dental work done! I used to be a patient of Dr. Rolfes. This dentist was recommended to me therefore I felt safe going there. Then, once Dr. Rolfes saw my teeth, he asked if I had orthodontic work. I guess this to him meant that I might have money - which it's not true. Anyway, I didn't have any problem with the front office as I thought I might since I listened to other patients entering and leaving the office. My problem was with Dr. Rolfes. He started suggesting extra things like getting my teeth cleaned when my teeth aren't yellow. I don't smoke just drink coffee but from the looks of other people, my teeth didn't need the $600 bill I was being pushed to consider. Then I started feeling uncomfortable that if I didn't watch it, I'd get suggested more things I didn't need. The other thing that bothered me was the dental assistants Dr. Rolfes had at the time I was going to his office. Dr. Rolfes would leave me 100% in the hands of the assistants and I didn't feel safe not being supervised. Anyway, I left the practice. I just don't think now a days one can find a dentist who just wants to be honest and do honest dentistry. I think the new dentists now a days are taught to be car salesmen. If you read this and still want to go to Dr. Rolfes, just watch your pocket book for unnecessary procedures. read more

I made an appointment 3 months in advance for a regular cleaning/checkup as a new patient. I submitted my existing x-ray result with new patient registration form via email months ahead to save my time at the appointment. I still had to wait for more than an hour to see the dr and the hygienist. Regular dental cleaning should not be longer than an hour, but I wasted THREE HOURS there! First, I was seated in a room to take photo and x-ray of each individual tooth in order for Dr. Do to see my teeth condition, which I respect her thoroughness. This procedure took an hour. Then, I waited for half an hour to see Dr. Do and talked about each tooth condition and see how it looks, which I already knew there is nothing wrong with them and it didn't bother me. After that, I was seated in an up-sale room to go over my financial option if decided to whitening my teeth or removing wisdom teeth. Luckily I asked for the detailed charges they applied to my PPO insurance. This place is all about money. Lastly, it's time for cleaning, which I had to wait for 40 mins for the hygienist. And she only spent 30 mins cleaning my teeth. This should've been done in the first place. I am extremely upset with all the time I wasted especially with the appointment. They have no concern of client's time. I do not recommend this place. read more
