So much fun seeing these guys when out grabbing a taco! The birds are BEAUTIFUL and so intelligent- you can seriously tell how loved they are. The whole team is super kind, caring and knowledgeable- not to mention they don't mind answering any type of questions! I think this is such a cool experience everyone should have especially since you don't see birds like this often. Also, as an animal lover, teaching kids how to be gentle and show compassion with *all* kinds of animals is more important than people notice it for.

Fun experience and pretty entertaining. The owner wasn't mean about the folks standing by taking pics/videos on their phones. He had a special for $35 to get the package of 3 photos (one kind) versus other days it's $35 for just 1 picture. The process of taking the picture was pretty fast but don't expect the greatest quality print, it's mostly just for memories. The blue and white parrots were so charming and hilarious! Hope you catch them on your next visit.

This was such a cool experience - Joe was super patient and the birds were beautiful and incredibly well trained. They were so gentle and only did what they were supposed to do. The backdrop and leis added interest to the photo and even our 4 year old got to hold a bird and the baby got to touch it. All in all a really unique and fun experience! Definitely worth checking out!

Joe is a passionate and kind man! He came to our school for career day and shared his journey. His speech was very motivating and the kids enjoyed his presentation. His birds are very gentle and beautiful! I highly recommend visiting or hiring Joe for your special event! Thank you, Joe! You're the best!

We have our framed picture with Birdies taken in Long Beach hanging on the wall by the bed. One day I was thinking of ideas for my son's Birthday Party. I looked at the picture and thought what if Smile for the Birdie could visit my son's preschool and let all kids meet the birds. I checked their website and found out that they do all kind of events - from Birthday parties and school visits to attending Senior centers. We had our celebration today and it was most unforgettable joyful experience for all, from 2 year olds to teachers and parents! Birds are well behaved and the business is insured! But even smallest kids in school were brave enough to pet and hold the birds! Thankful to Joe, the owner, coming all the way down to Santa Monica and making this day so special for us!

Happened to walk by the booth for this a few weeks ago and noticed all the beautiful birds. My oldest loves birds and of course had to stop and look. We met Joe and he was very informative about everything we asked so of course we ended up taking some pictures and we were very pleased with the whole experience. Definitely would recommend this if you're in the area very friendly and well trained birds.

I never realized how terrified I was of birds until I was up close and personal! However, Joe immediately put me at ease, showing me photos of young children interacting with these exotic creatures so effortlessly! I was amazed. Once I began to pet them, and hold them, I lost all fear and enjoyed the experience. The pictures came out so cute, too! If you hire Joe to come to you, he brings this incredibly cool looking Tiki House on wheels! It's gorgeous, and the pictures look like you might be on a deserted island somewhere. Very unique and memorable. Highly recommended!

So glad I stopped to say hello and get to know the birds and you. Honestly, I was hesitant and concerned because I didn't want to exploit these beautiful birds. After watching for awhile, I could see how much love and respect the handler (sorry, I forgot your name) had for the birds. The birds absolutely love and respect him too. After hearing the newest addition was a rescue, I was sold. This experience was amazing. My youngest child wants to see animals but not in cages, so this was perfect. I'm relieved to know these birds are treated like family and not like property. The pictures are great but the experience is everything. Communicating with the birds was so remarkable. You can truly see how intelligent they are. I can't wait to come back and see them again. Thank you so much. This amazing experience was the highlight of our trip to Long Beach.

The owner was so kind to my 90 Year old Grandma. We tool pictures with the wonderful Birds. I would recommend dropping by

Came to shoreline for a fun day out and saw joe next to the arcade and couldn't help but stop and look at the birds. Joe was absolutely AMAZING, the birds were so friendly and sweet. He answered all the questions we had. Definitely going back again soon.

This was the best experience me and my friend could ever have happened upon! The birds were so well trained and lovely I wish I could've hung out with them longer LOL. Thank you so much, this has made our whole trip honestly !

If you want to re-live your big day over and over again years later, James is your guy! My wife and I had never done a professional photoshoot. Neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of the camera. After interviewing 5 different photographers, we knew from our first conversation that James was the one. He is incredibly friendly, easy going, and knowledgeable. We agreed to do an engagement session, 1 location for 90mins to see if we'd be comfortable working with James. It couldn't have gone better. Initially, we were a bit stiff, but James gave us tips on how to act naturally, suggested poses and hand positions that made us feel and look relaxed. The time flew by and we actually ended up going to a second location with a wardrobe change. Overall, it was about 2 hours. James did not mind at all. In fact, he probably could've gone longer if the sun hadn't set on us! Our photos were edited and received in less than 2 weeks! James was kind enough to print a large poster and sign that shipped to our house in just a few days. He price matched any package/prints from other photographers. Having gone through our engagement session seamlessly, we hired James to shoot our wedding as well. He and an assistant were on site for 10 hours, tending to our every need and keeping us on our timeline. After our planned family/wedding party photos, we hardly even noticed them working as we proceeded with wedding events. After the wedding, we received many compliments on how great James was and several guests asked for his contact information. Within a couple of days, we received a preview of about 20 photos highlighting our big day. We were thrilled! Every important moment was captured so elegantly! The full magazine of photos was available for download in about 1 month. James then worked with us to print a high quality photo book for our coffee table. You can't go wrong with James--his high quality work and work ethic speak for themselves. There is no substitute for how easy and stress free he made us feel, so that we could truly enjoy ourselves knowing that he would capture every single moment candidly. Do not hesitate to hire James, it will be the best decision you will ever make.

An unforgettable experience captured perfectly -- thank you, James!…read more I had the honor of graduating from both LACC and UCLA Extension, and I'm so grateful that James was there to capture every important moment. From our first communication, he was extremely professional, flexible, and kind, always making sure he understood what I wanted and adapting to each location, timeline, and change with ease. He photographed both ceremonies with incredible attention to detail -- from candid moments of me with my husband, family, and friends, to emotional highlights like walking across the stage, and even the quiet, heartfelt moments in between. His eye for storytelling brought every part of the day to life. James made everyone feel comfortable, and his warm presence truly added to the celebration. He treated both graduations with care and dedication, and I couldn't have asked for a better photographer to help preserve these milestones. If you're looking for someone reliable, talented, and genuinely passionate about their work -- James is the one. Thank you again for capturing these beautiful memories that my loved ones and I will treasure forever!

Truth be told....I write this with a bit of a tear in my eye....not to get too melodramatic over a…read moreyelp review....but pictures...when done perfect and if your in a particular sentimental mood....can have that effect. Some backstory...Imagix/Michelle has done our yearly photos for our son from ages 1 to now 5. (See my past reviews). From somehow capturing a perfect moment from our perpetually moving blur of a son (ages 1-3) to patiently instructing four 70/80 year olds on how to hold their aforementioned 4 year old Tasmanian Devil grandson last year, Michelle is a magician/artist...I always leave the photoshoot stressed from the chaos Hurricane Daniel (our son) leaves in his wake....But every year we come back to look at the proofs and are amazed at Michelle ability to capture "lighting in a bottle" . This year was no different. Fortunately we survived the terrible 2's (...3's....4's....) and thanks to time, maturity, and the opposite of gentle parenting, our little Daniel, though far from perfect, is manageable. But we didn't want to make it too easy for Michelle, so we threw in another variable. After a recent canine cancer scare, and recently learning from Google that all dogs, however loyal and cute, unfortunately have an inescapable life, span, I somehow convinced my beautiful but camera shy wife that this is the year we do a family photo with our dog. Some more backstory, if you read this far, our Yorkie, Libby, loves us but HATES the rest of the world. She spent the entire hour photoshoot in perpetual scowl and Volume 11 non stop bark. One week later as she always does, lighting in a bottle perfection. I looked at the proofs with amazement. Our son, we expected....she's done it every year, but how she made a loud perpetual yapping bark into a impossibly cute smile is above my skill set. But I think her greatest feat is how she lessened the "he must be rich" looks gap between my wife and I. My wife is easy, even me with my amateur Android skills, it's hard for her to take a bad picture. Michelle mastery came with how she elevated me to "he must be funny" looks gap level. So why the tear? We loved one of the pics so much we purchased a large framed canvas print to hang on our living room wall. My 85 year old happened to be in town for his grandsons 5th bday so I asked him for an helping hand hanging the picture. I figured he has these family portrait hanging at my childhood home. My brother and I with our full head of hair and my mom shoulder pads captured the 90's to a tee...but what I always remember is the "proud" look my dad had on his face. A look of accomplishment shouting "look at me world and all that I love and created". Watching my aging dad struggle, listing to my aging dog bark in a locked room to protect my dad's ankles, I was suddenly reminded that time, as much as you want to hit pause, always moves forward. It's a good idea to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, look at the snapshot/memories/moments and take it all in. After my dad handed me the leveler and I put away the hammer, and I looked up....and yeah....I had that "Dad" look
