From oversized pegs to the best paperclips you're likely to see anywhere, Typo have quirky stationery that is also functional. I've been to Typo at Harbour Town twice in the past three days and I love what these guys sell. My only criticism or perhaps more accurately request is that they make a laptop sleeve for a 17" computer in bright colours. All of the funky coloured sleeves and laptop bags are for 15" computers. People with 17" laptops need colour too. Please Typo come through for me on this one. Great staff. Young and funky and whatsmore they're really friendly. I do like a chat when I'm making a purchase so I felt right at home. When you're buying fun stuff you want the experience to be fun and at Typo Harbour Town it is!

It was always so exciting and you always wanted everything to be so neat when you wrote that first sentence in your new English book. I'm still one of those kids, which is why Typo is like walking into a candy store for me. The staff are totally awesome and match the vibe of the store. Almost everything is a brown woody kind of colour and it almost feels like you're walking into an eco-friendly store. Typo make for a great gift or a treat for yourself if you want to make your office or desk area look nice. I recommend the fancy tape dispensers.. which are actually tapes!

While not as big as Dillon's Newsagent just across the mall (near Coles), they stock all the usual suspects. If you're after your Vogue or Elle or Frankie or other big titles you will find in on their shelves. I couldn't see many overseas titles. I've found the staff to be pretty chatty and kinda funny. Last time I went in to get Harper's (with the winner of ANTM on the cover) for a friend overseas, I ended up chatting to the guy about Australia's Next Top Model for ages...which I don't actually watch, but I winged it pretty well! Good for your basics!

Or maybe it's just really good marketing, people come out of food shopping with the kids and think "man, after that I reallllly need a beer" so they decide to take a short cut through the newsagency and along the way they decide "man, I really need a pen too". You never know. There are books available here too, last time I visited I spent a good 10 minutes leafing through a book about the life and designs of Coco Chanel, of course I didn't buy it because it was $50, besides, I'd already read it hadn't I? If I need a pen I just go in and use one and then leave, they should really monitor people like me! But, considering these guys don't, that makes them 3 stars in my book! There are little gifty things available too, take a squiz on your way through to the bottle shop.

Well its just like all the others, if not a smidge smaller but so much more natural light then normal. There also is a larger range of leather goods and totes then normal, perhaps reflective of their clientele and the lean seems to be more towards the corporate. Staff are pleasant but nothing to truly rave out, just the good standard smile and nod you expect everywhere. Kikki.K is a great brand and I couldn't love it more, but as far as stores go, this is A-OK.

For instance, I found their wooden rubber stamp great for personalising letters, envelopes, reminder notes or fill the void of a blank paper. I picked up a printed notepad today and instantly knew it would be perfect for an accompanying note with a gift, or letter to an aunt in Shanghai who appreciates beautiful stationery and I could write sweet notes to my kids and slip it in their lunchboxes. In short, kikki.K is more than just a fashionable stationery. I can't help but think that the next time I whisk out my iPad in a meeting, I will proudly display my printed notepad bearing colourful string flags and show them I mean business. In a sugar and spice way.

My favourite part about the store is the colour and stationary. Although some of the stationary is in another language, I still find it cute and unique to other stores. Morning Glory is a great place to buy plush toys; they range from small to very large. There's also mugs, phone covers, hair ties, jewellery stands, shoes, clothes, accessories, Korean CDs, and as I mentioned before, stationary. She loves Kello Kitty and all those cute little characters. Morning Glory is probably the only retail store in Adelaide where you can actually haggle to. They have a variety of educational toys for kids (don't we love those these days) as well as some very politically correct dolls with different nationalities which were great! I loved pretty much everything in here, especially the Korean diaries and sweet one off stationary. I am going to come here for gifts from now on and my friends are going to love me for it. While generally quite pricey with designer stationary items, you can easily grab a bargain if you know what you are looking for, hence my first piece of advice for shopping here - keep your eye open for $5 clearance tags. The pens at Typo are very nice and its worth looking at finding a nice pen while you are there because even though they are more expensive then what you probably could get from Kmart nearby, they certainly last longer and feel nicer to write with. They also have a great range of phone cases and other cool items here. They even had a wooden QWERTY keyboard for a desktop computer, which I found really cool. The store is quite small though, so it is important to keep your eye open for other shoppers. Make sure that you also check out their funny birthday cards too.

I think they go too far sometimes with their un-useful items which are supposed to be 'clever' ... I can forsee many stupid gifts being thrown in the bin. The products have a 'homogenised' feel ... nothing stands out, everything is in the same colour tones, nothing is too bright or too brilliant. But what I do like about this place is that they stock local artists and designers. The only issue is they are the *same* artists and designers that can be found at Bowerbird Bazaar, That Dapper Market, and various other shops and cafes around Adelaide. Saying that, it is great to have a gift store to grab that little something that can't be found in a department store and know that you are supporting Adelaide businesses. I'm just a bit disappointed that they don't have a 'point of difference' at all - it will be great if they decide to branch out in future and take a few more risks!

Where oh where have all the Lincraft stores disappeared to?? The Marion store has closed, and this…read moreone has been cut in half in the last few months! Previously I would have given Lincraft at least 3-4 stars ... but my last couple of visits have left me cold. I would have thought that they would be doing OK, considering the current 'handmade' trend. But this store has been reduced to half its size, with only one service counter. Where the Lincraft staff used to be friendly and helpful, now they are more like skeleton staff ... even if you're at the front of the queue, you are guaranteed to have to wait there at least 5 minutes, with only one person at the counter. So what has happened to Lincraft? Their stock is still of a higher quality than Spotlight, but I must confess they will no longer be my first stop when I need crafting supplies.

Yes we are talking the 80s people. Unfortunately it seems Lincraft has failed to catch up with the crafting movement and instead was shoved up in the forgotten Dazzleland of the Myer Centre. With one service counter you won't find service in the aisles and be prepared to wait, even on a quiet afternoon. Spotlight always won the battle over Lincraft prices but there is more of an organised and premium feel to the products and materials available here. I have been in here searching for special buttons, wool, boxes to paper mache before and always found something, but the range of material and slow/tumbleweed service is a huge downfall. BONUS STAR: Did you know Lincraft have awesome online YouTube tutorials for "how to" arm knit a scarf, scrapbook or mattress stitch? Some of the videos are pretty dated looking, but it does win a point in my book back for the store.
