I am so incredibly livid with this company. We went to them for our 2022 and 2023 and 2025 taxes…read more The first year was great. The second year, they filed our taxes late so we received penalties and they never took ownership so we went to someone else for our 2024 taxes. This year we decided we'd try them again... big mistake. We submitted our tax information through their app and I sent them a message requesting they file an extension for us. I didn't receive any confirmation but assumed, since we signed the form stating they were going to be our tax preparer, that they filed the extension. I have spent WEEKS trying to get a hold of them. Through their app, their email, and phone with no response. I just got off the phone with the IRS and an extension was never filed so now we have until the end of the month to file.

What can I say, James Harnsberger is the single most knowledgable tax professional I've ever…read moremet...and I've met my share of Enrolled Agents (EA's) and tax accountants. In fact, he SAVED ME from some terrible, damaging advice I'd received from another EA that would have been devastating had I continued even another couple months. It's really, really hard to deeply empathize/care about clients who are going through what is one of the scariest processes ever (tax issues)... while maintaining the ferocity needed to legally/ethically battle the IRS on your behalf. That's what James (and by extension, his entire team) brings to the table. It's not just the massive tax savings he helps you uncover, or the careful, strategic planning set up to reduce/mitigate future liability--it's really the immense care, hope and assurance that things will work out in the end. So priceless. I could not recommend James or his entire Phoenix Rising team more highly! From their education, to client work and beyond... they are changing the entire game for regular people who deserve their fair shake at legally/properly saving on their taxes, just like the wealthiest individuals in the country have been doing since the IRS was initially formed.

The other tax preparers are not that friendly. One less star is because we had to amend this year's and last year's taxes because my husband and I didn't know that with a rental property, we could claim the hoa fees. Mr. T didn't ask us either which was not cool since he's the knowledgeable tax preparer and we had to pay an additional $100 to amend on top of the usual $200 fee to file married jointly (with 2 incomes). But overall, quick service as long as you make an appt. We still owe taxes regardless.

We didn't need her to do bookkeeping as we did our own but so she could familiarize herself with our company. We weren't going to do my taxes until I received all my 1099's to make sure all the numbers were correct. When I did receive all 1099's I noticed on a reconciliation file from paypal that they were double reporting me and I sent her the files to look at to confirm my suspicions. At first she didn't understand, then I sent another file and a detailed response to her voice mail and another detailed response to her email stating she would just do my tax returns and that's it. By now this is the 3rd day and several hours wasted on trying to get an answer about what I was seeing. I'd been trying to get a confirmation of what I was seeing and she still had not answered my simple question of, were they double reporting some income. She stated that she was too busy to look at the stuff as she was in full swing and didn't have the "bandwidth" to field my questions. One. Simple. Question. I found that when I did talk on the phone she was somewhat rude when she was challenged. As in how dare I tell her she might be doing something wrong. But in the end she never did answer my questions and with all the emails sent back and forth it was very apparent that she had never really looked at the files I sent her otherwise she could have just answered my 1 simple question. You are supposed to be my "tax professional" yet couldn't take the time to answer my question. we are PAYING for YOUR SERVICE, you should answer the questions of the customer who would be paying you, thankfully we didn't go with her. I also had asked for a quote which I got initially and when asked her again a month later to make sure I had the numbers right she had raised her quote by 250$ more than the initial quote and I had to call her on that. We decided that it was best not to work with her and did find a tax professional who spent 30 minutes with me initially, answered my questions and then called me back 5 days later to ask me more questions to clarify things on the returns and books I sent him to familiarize him with my business. A true Professional. Took the time to talk, and answer my questions and then ask more. Even though he was in "Full Swing" of tax season. I can't really recommend this person.
