While you meander among the tents you can listen to fiddlers or singers while sipping coffee from a local coffee truck. I have a lot of health concerns so a store like this is just what I need, and while visiting recently I popped back in to see what was up. I was immediately greeted by several staff members who apologized for their disarray - they were redoing the store and a lot of stuff was moved around and under construction. I let them know I'd been there before and had been passing through to check the place out again, and she was so relieved I had seen them before their current state. While we didn't really need any food, my boyfriend and I couldn't resist grabbing some whoopie pies on our way out. They were fairly inexpensive, and I was happy to see they were made by Hungry Hollow up on 26. The cashier told us her favorite was the pumpkin, as we had gotten that and the chocolate. Once we ate them later we wished more were purchased, because (sorry auntie!) those were the best whoopie pies I've ever had.

The line up is an eclectic mix of Maine products and vendors. Whether you need a sweater (or her lamb), specialty vinegars (and recipes), or any other delicious housewarming or holiday present, the market offers a diverse array of products besides the organic produce and other goodies. We like providing them to our VRBO guests too. We do wish they would move Hootenanny's Bread to the south end of the market near Dharma Farms and Kelly Bros beef-- it would reduce the congestion from the long lines and make the "main street" of the market more enjoyable. The market moves indoors with fewer vendors in November-- being in the historic freight shed is a little more crowded but also cozy as the winter months progress. And our freezer is never without a Mainely Poultry pot pie or two, some haddock "burgers", or a Chase Farms apple pie. It's our kids (and their kids) favorite activity when they visit.

Every vendor there had people in front of their stands and hearing them all engage in conversation about their business was so nice. There is such a human element to this market. Felt more people focus than business focused. The grounds were clean and each vendor was placed within a reasonable distance. Didn't have to walk too far to the next and you didn't feel like you were on top of people either. Parking can be a challenge if you can't walk far, especially with the main street construction happening near Bull Moose/Tontine Mall (September 2025). But if you can find parking and you enjoy farmers markets, I would highly recommend this market.

Every vendor we walked by, said hello and seemed warm and friendly. The area was set up near the main walkway, which was nice - very tidy and organized. There were a lot of different patrons, young and old and everyone seemed so happy and engaged with the vendors. I can't believe it's taken me YEARS to finally visit. I will definitely return, if I can get out of work in time. That's the only downside, they are only set up until 6pm on Thursdays.

They do have parking in the back. I didn't see the sign for that from the street, but I was able to find street parking just past the market place. As I was leaving I saw the clam mascot, and I had to get a picture! I can't wait for the Yarmouth Clam Festival, it's literally the reason why I came to Maine from Austin, Texas.
