I used to frequent two different Korean hair salons in California, and since moving here was…read morenervous/excited to find a reliable salon in Vegas for my digital perm. Based on their photos and reviews, I decided to give Soo Hair Salon a try for a digital + setting perm + haircut ($250-$400). I booked an appointment online and then had to call to move it one day later (the girl on the phone told me the digital perm is 2 hours, but if you also get a haircut it ends up being around 3 hours). Upon entering, the salon is very stylish and thoughtfully designed with modern equipment. One of the other stylists shampooed my hair first, and the sink tilts forwards and backwards so that your neck is angled and no water splashes on your face! I liked the head massage that came with the shampoo. Then Gina and her assistant came to ask about my perm and so I pointed out that I would like to have the edges of my hairline covered due to recession and could she possibly add more volume on the top. Gina speaks Korean and the assistant translated to English for me - basically if: - I wanted more volume on the top, it would be a root perm or she could start the curls higher (typically with digital perm the rods are bigger so the curls start halfway down) - She could cut my hair to cover my hairline on the edges I decided not to go with the root perm and asked her to start the curls where she felt best matched my face shape (she said around my ears). Once Gina started cutting my hair, I could feel I was in good hands - she was so gentle yet precise (sometimes when stylists comb each section of hair to cut, they overtug and it yanks my head around but she never did that). Then she carefully combed down my hairline near the corners, and then did a special cut for them! I've never had a stylist do that! Then they set up my hair for the digital perm, and Gina combed down the hair she cut on my hairline corners, and the assistant said that she was doing a "down perm as a free service" on my hair there so it could stay flat! Normally they charge for the service. Love love love! The digital perm machine was more advanced than the other salons I've been to - the cooling fan is strong and so I didn't feel my scalp overheating. Then they turn off the fan, let the hair cool, treat it with another chemical, shampoo again, and then blow dry and style with some curling cream. I also bought the teatree mask since Gina said that my scalp is very dry and it would help. The salon has very professional vibes and I will definitely be coming back! There's definitely expertise here, my hair feels healthy and the shape and curls are skillfully done. They were busy with mostly Korean clientele but don't worry if you speak English the assistant can translate. The hubs said that my hair doesn't smell as strong chemically as my previous salon visits, so I'm so happy to have found my new home salon!

I even went to sleep when she was washing, cutting and styling my hair. I couldn't get a picture of my after because I had to shoot to a birthday party, but this place is a GEM! I didn't experience any tugging or tangling. The lady lather rinsed and repeated and she would apply extra pressure around my scalp which felt nice. Afterwards, a warm towel was placed over my eyes. The lady began to massage my head and neck, moved me to the left and then over to the right. I wanted to fall asleep bc I was relaxed and at ease. When the washing and massage time was up, our hair was wrapped up and we were brought over to the drying area. We were given another massage that involved our neck, upper back and shoulders. We were given tea and a cookie and we sat under hands free hairdryer which was so cool! Like I can use both my hands to help dry my hair?! So innovative! So efficient! Like I want one for myself now! The lady asked us if we needed any hair products to dry our hair but they didn't have my root lift serum. My hair dried fast and I was able to sip my tea and destress. Yasss.
