The salon was moderately busy (every stylist was occupied) but with enough staff to ensure there were no waits. (In my experience, First Choice, Magicuts and the like have more employees working on Saturdays, and that seemed to be true here.) Mila was the woman who cut my hair, and she did an amazing job! My hair looked beautiful after. Everyone was very professional and the service was great. Probably not the place to go if you want to have a very chatty hairdresser, but that's not my preference so I was very happy. She was very friendly and polite, and recommended some products to me afterward. The salon itself was clean and tidy and she definitely knew what she was doing. With a shampoo and a brief blowdry, the haircut comes out to just under 25 dollars. The experience was very nice! No fuss, just a great haircut. I will be back.

Horrendous, rude, and belittling experience…read more 1. The hair stylist (may be the owner) was extremely rude 2. The hair stylist asked me what size I want and I showed her a picture of previous haircut (I have gone to this place many a times in the past years and have shown the same.similar pictures to get haircut done). She belittled me for not knowing the size that I wish to have. 3. The hair stylist assumed that I am "Indian" since I have brown skin and told me it's not India where you just say "Medium" length. I acknowledged my ignorance but she went on to lecture me how I should tell other barbers exact number next time 4. The hair stylist was in a rush and just wanted to get done with me. I seemed like a piece of trash that she just wanted to throw. She finished my haircut with least care and even hurt me (not significantly). OMG. People, STAY AWAY from this horrible place. Although this hair salon claims that they are…read moredifferent from "Allure Salon Hair & Spa," they are indeed run by the same owner. Since they had such terrible reviews, they just changed the name of it and hired new hair designers so that it looks like a different place. I did a $100 digital perm last week and was "forced" to pay $25 by the owner. She claimed that the hair designer deserves to be paid $25 because he did such a great job. It's hilarious that the owner tells you how much tip you should pay, right? BTW, they also charge additional $5 for shampooing (for men's hair cut) You might think that they offer you a good deal, but the price tag becomes hefty once the owner adds up what she things the hair designers deserve to be paid. Very likely, she is not paying them well, and asking customers to pay after they enter the hair salon. When there are millions of other hair salons in the area, why would you go to this place? If you choose to go, I can guarantee you that the owner will tell you how much you should tip and will snatch it from your wallet. BTW, read the reviews from "Allure Salon Hair & Spa" (Same location, same owner. Nothing has changed since then) https://www.yelp.ca/biz/allure-hair-and-spa-toronto-2?osq=Allure+hair+and

My experience was that she poured good vibes into my hair, and my soul. She listened to understand exactly what I wanted for my 3B curly hair, patiently answered my questions and concerns before, during and after my appointment, has gentle hands for those of us who are tender headed, has a lovely clean shop and made me feel right at home in her comfy chair. The time passed quickly for my brand new loc installation, which says alot! I would highly recommend Majestic Locs to anyone starting their journey, or for maintenance. Ken's wife is also very skillful, more in the women's haircut area. My wife spent close to 100 bucks in some fancy salon but after coming here, she was so impressed with the quality of haircut she got at Fortuna. Icing on the cake was that it was even lesser than half what she paid at the other place.

I walked into this shop today thinking I would be able to get a general trim off my ends (to take…read moresome split ends off). My wedding is next month, and I thought my request was simple/general enough that I could randomly stop by and get my ends trimmed by just about anyone and be done with it. The request was so simple, a student or a junior could have done it. I asked the woman cutting my hair to only cut 1 inch off tops, and that I didn't want it too short. She then went ahead to cut my hair, while I went on my phone to finish off some emails during what I thought would be a simple haircut, and didn't pay attention to what she was doing until it was too late (honestly, I should have watched her like a hawk). Instead of cutting off my requested 1 inch, she chopped off 4.5 inches off my hair. My hair now looks vastly different from what is required for my wedding veil/headpiece, what's been envisioned during my hair makeup/trial brainstorming sessions, my wedding dress, etc. How cutting 1 inch turned into cutting 4.5 inches is beyond me - my wedding is in about 30 days, I've never bought extensions in my life, and I now have to figure out what to do. I look like an absolutely different person from how I envisioned I'd look like on my wedding day (dramatic, I know, but I'm super upset!). Absolutely zero regard for client direction and client requests. The price may be cheap, but you get what you pay for. Avoid at all costs.

My English was poor at one point when I first came to Canada so I let that slide. I came in to the salon asking for a simple trim and cut that would shape my face better. My stylist Jun tried really hard to understand what I wanted but he just didn't get it, even after I showed him a picture. I left completely unsatisfied and had to go to another salon afterwards. What a waste of $50. :( Also beware that the prices listed don't include shampooing although they do give you a nice head massage which was probably worth the extra $5.

Do not recommend. There are literally hundreds of salons in the city far better than this place so…read moredo your research and don't waste your time and money here. My instinct told me to walk out the place when the manager presented me a pricing menu that was incomprehensible. This salon is insanely expensive given the location, service, quality of products, vibe and design of the space. Their pricing structure is utterly confusing and atypical of how salons operate in North America, and even Japan or France where I've had my hair done many times. I went in for a half head root touch up and came out spending over $100 for this service alone (pre tip) that I know would be less expensive at some of the best salons in the city. They charge for hair color by the grams of hair color and then force you to get a blow dry based on your hair length at an additional cost. Why not just include it all together? Why not let me dry my hair on my own if I don't want this extra service? You present the blow dry on the menu as an additional service and then tell me it's not optional. I also had an add-on service head massage service where they presented me with one price while I was sitting in the chair and then charged me $15 more at check out for a "large" based on my hair length. As far as I can tell a head massage has to do with the scalp and not the length of my hair. This makes no sense and is deceiving. The only redeeming point to this review is the hair colorist Aske who did a decent job. To the manager who accused me of "blackmailing" when I told you I would be leaving you with a bad review AFTER I paid you in full with a tip. That's not how blackmailing works. It's my right as a consumer to warn prospective clients of your unethical pricing system. So yes, I am not "happy" and this is why I'm writing this review. You should take this moment as an opportunity to review your management, customer service protocol and operational tactics. You can see by my Yelp profile I barely ever go out of my way to give bad reviews as I understand how people can have bad days but this one is unavoidable, and I feel it's necessary to warn prospective clients who decide to do the research. I wish I had done so too as I can see from the succession of bad reviews here.

I had spent a very long time growing my hair out, so having that much cut off when I specifically asked for only 3 inches was absolutely devastating. My hair is now significantly shorter than I wanted and i'm extremely upset. The stylist I was given was named Bita. She was incredibly rude, making comments about my hair as well as my earrings throughout the appointment and was very snoopy when I was tipping which was highly unprofessional. On top of all of that, the haircut felt incredibly rushed. She had another client after me and cut my hair so quickly that I felt like she was more concerned with finishing my appointment than actually taking the time to do what was asked for. I do not recommend this salon especially if booked with Bita. I definitely will not be returning.
