Giving four stars for Van's personality because she is a dedicated, hard working person. I appreciate her being so accommodating towards me and taking me in last minute, I was probably her last customer of the day. The hair cut itself was more like a 2.5 star experience out of 5. I did not care for her technique. My hair was being pulled, kinked, it was roughly handled and I have very thin delicate hair... I have straight thin hair and she basically decided to thin my hair out even more with her technique. I asked her to switch it up and use the scissors to cut my hair instead of just thinning my hair and she said she was worried it wouldn't look good. While feathering my hair and thinning it might look good it actually causes more damage. My hair dresser lives in Singapore and she's incredible educated me that because of my texture that I need to stay away from feathering techniques (with regular scissors) and shearing/ feathering scissors. Those techniques looks cute for the moment but ends up causing serious damage to the ends. Sadly my search for a hair stylist continues. I appreciate her kindness and work ethic but I basically came home and cut off the ends because they were so raggedy and damaged by her. The cut wasn't totally pointless, she gave it some shape and removed / thinned about 4 inches of my hair. I'm a little upset about the outcome and I truly never get upset about hair cuts because it's just hair, it grows out. The pain from Van's scissors catching onto my hair and from the comb ripping my ends and roots, it was too much. $40 + a $10 tip, cash only. I'd come back just for her she's a lovely person, but my hair needs to be handled with more TLC. read more

Van is one of the rare hair stylists that I trust to cut my hair! I'm pretty easy going with haircuts, but if it's for a wedding or big event I always come here to be safe. I cut off 8 inches of hair before my new job and Van gave me such a fresh cut that I now always use that picture as a reference at other hair salons. She is professional and knows how to sculpt the hairstyle to my face. Always make an appointment because her schedule gets packed! When it was my turn, I showed her the picture of the gal who had layers and asked her to cut it so I could still put my hair in a ponytail. She carefully measured the length and began "Edward Scissorhands" cutting my hair. She was so masterful and articulate about cutting that it mesmerized me. Van is excellent. She is super friendly and will give you exactly the cut you ask for. I love how she is taking appointments only and has the next person wait in the car. I did not make an appointment with Van ahead of time on an early Sunday morning. Unforunately, she already had a line. I was 3rd in line and had to wait. She got to me after about 45 mins waiting. I haven't been here for over 20 years since I always shave my head since then and now I'm balding . But when I did it was always a welcoming place and always got the haircut I wanted. I decided to make an appointment and bring my 14 month old son to get his haircut. Can't believe Van remembered me. So that was really cool. Been coming here for a few years now. Price is right and Van is always friendly and skillful in her work. She's one of the only people I've left a satisfied customers after a haircut. I have pretty simple parameters for my haircuts but somehow I feel like I have a weirdly shaped head or something, because some barbers just don't get me, and I end up looking strange as a result of their one - size fits all approach. Not the case here, thankfully! Even though I'm only here once every few months, she always remembers me and we have friendly chats to catch up. When I call, she even has my name on Caller ID I think because when I make an appointment she already knows to expect me.
